I feel that without government regulation there would be instances where healthcare companies, who are in the business to create profit, would find ways to avoid healthcare responsibilities. I was hired as an Aflac intern and while studying for my insurance license it was shocking how many shortcuts these companies would take. The US Military men and women have government health care which many consider to be the best health care program available. It just makes me wonder.
The company that you bought your computer from did so for a profit. The company that produced the food you eat, the house you live in, the car you drive all did so for a profit. The profit model is the most efficient system their is. Their are no government car companies or government supermarkets because they are so inneficient.
Just judge the quality of care you receive as a customer from the DMV vs. Starbucks. Who provides quicker better service?
Good point, but at the same time it's that profit-driven mentality that encourages unfair practices such as denying people coverage due to pre-existing conditions. My professor defended these practices by stating, "these companies have to make a profit. They can't cover just anyone." It blew my mind just how many regulations states had to enforce to keep these companies from abusing the consumer. So, please, don't take the government out of it.

I'd honestly rather see people with pre-existing conditions be on a public option than to have the government keep regulating the private healthcare market.
It's an unfair world. The government...

Wow, that's kind of mean. She had that jewelry before she lost her job. She'd get 50 bucks tops for selling that, and it wouldn't help her situation.

Obama is moving way too slow on the health care front. People are dying.

The best way to help people who are sick is to get the government out of healthcare as soon as possible!

Wait, I'm confused. Could you explain?

@indaimie
The reason healthcare prices are so high is because of government regulations that limit competition creating monopolies.
