  • i think that microsoft has really hit on something from a visual design standpoint. the minimilistic metro UI is beautiful, and there new logo is hella sleek. But unfortunatily for them they are weighed down by the crippling fact that they are, due to some creul twist of fate, microsoft. so instead, i am going to make a metro style launcher and lockscreen combo for android tablets.

  • without apple tech gadget is so boring.. even they are not the best. before iphone, phone is just the phone.

  • I love Android on my phone, but it can't run .exe's

  • Kal-El, Awesome name....Go Superman ! And Here Here for ASUS ! Thats the only Motherboard I buy - Glad to see them Going even more Mainstream . . Hope this continues to catch on!

  • @xtraflo This year's Wayne chip will be twice as powerful. Looks like someone screwed up here.

  • @SJKSK123 yes I agree I don't believe they can't understand windows 8 is nothing and stupid!

  • android is better... more modern more beautiful and has useful apps... even the apple... But I'm hate apple just said win8 is already nothing.

  • If this works as it should, and it has nice devices like the asus prime then it will be simply awesome.

  • im buyng this ina couple months selling my ipad for one

  • I hope this kills Android.

  • Crysis in Windows 8 and Tegra 3.

    Possible?

  • @Dastion Quadcore cpu and gpu is good but crysis needs too much ram

  • @Dastion No. Cores with ARM architecture are totally different than the Intel architecture your pc/mac uses. The ram memory or any other detail is irrelevant.

  • Can you put Windows 8 on asus transformer prime?

  • If intel succeeds with the medfield, then ARm vs x86-64 is going to flame up.

  • Wait for tegra 4 with 8 core and dx11 and then we are talking pc gaming experience!!

  • Even if Windows 8 was available for Tegra3 you wouldn't be able to run any of your existing Windows games and applications because they would not be binary compatible. Tegra3 is ARM Cortex-A9 architecture whereas Windows runs on Intel compatible x86/amd64 processors.

You would have to go out and buy the ARM versions of all your software once they have been ported which might take some time.

I say get an ASUS Transformer Prime and put Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on it when released in Jan.

  • @frijj2k Windows 8 does support ARM devices, look it up.

  • @sds9505 He's saying that from day one, your Windows 8 tablet would not be able to run any software that was originally made for PC's. The problem with Windows Tablets is that they are literally starting from zilch in both their application store and legacy support, while competitors like Apple have already built strong application stores.

It's hard to say this thing will kill an iPad or Android when all it can run at the moment is the core apps and internet explorer(lol).

  • @Deatho Besides, who uses IE anymore? Their market share of browsers have fallen from ~95% to between 40-50% and falling. Vista/7 was heavily resource intensive. I can't see why they would start from scratch to make a tablet friendly (i.e.energy use) OS so late. They talk of HTML5 as if it has been fully implemented (although somewhat stable, this will take years to fully adopt). Does anyone foresee similarities with the Zune? Motorola and RIM have difficulties with their late start.

  • @douchebagmoore I agree. If Intel can come up with an x86 processor that is low enough in power to have an efficient battery, remove a heat vent and run the OS decently, than those Windows 8 tablets can be competitive. Problem is that it's unlikely they can do that without exceeding the $500 price point, and ARM based Windows tablets will have a very rough start.

  • Put a tegra 3 in the prime combine with a slider an wd 8 and you have the ultimate pad:)

  • That is one thick tablet.

  • @djwarchitecture1 Well, yes, the monitor you see at 1:40 is a Sony monitor, if the tablet is made by sony, samsung or whatever is not shown, as far as I have seen...

The title says "NVIDIA Tegra 3 Tablet running Windows 8", unless the title has changed, no brand has been named... Only Nvidia, and that's the processor...

  • @djwarchitecture1 That's the computer monitor they used to demo Windows 8 on x86.

  • @MrBlaziner I spotted the sarcasm.

  • ipad 2 is so much better, fucking dorks prove me wrong.

  • @MrBlaziner You are an angry person. :)

  • @filmsmithluke NO IM NOT! prove me wrong dork.

  • That's not an Asus tablet!

It's the Samsung unit that was given to devs at Computex.

    The video title is bullshit

  • @justincgs Unless the video title has changed in the past 3 days, no brand is mentioned in regards to the tablet. "NVIDIA Tegra 3 Tablet running Windows 8"

  • Sweet! I can use Internet Explorer on a tablet!!!!!!!!

  • @sloppyjoes7 why do you even wanna use internet explorer

  • @holta1998

    I don't.

  • anyone has idea abt Tegra 2?

  • the tablet is sucks

  • I want to get one of these because of the Quad Core. But I need more RAM with a Tablet. At least 4-8GB's

  • @MicroHelper yes 1 gb is too few... maybe 2-4 will be better

  • why does the song in the end sound like it's from "sexy and i know it" lol

  • fidaus

  • if only the mobile windows os dint look so hmm old lol

  • Does anyone know if Windows 8 be ported to the new Asus Transformer Prime tablet? It has a Tegra 3 processor.

  • @wrcousert Call Microsoft, see if they'll let you know =) MS will never release the source code for Windows 8, so porting won't be an option unless MS does it.

  • @wrcousert Well they were locking the BootLoader with 128-bit encryption which is basically impossible to crack. But like with HTC, fans protested and Asus just caved in saying they where releasing a BootLoader for the Transformer Prime meaning; YES! We SHOULD get Windows 8 for our Transformer Primes :P

  • @wrcousert the point of windows 8 is to run on anything aka die apple die

  • @wrcousert since Tegra is an ARM Chip, it can only run Windows on ARM (WOA)

  • @tecnax That is understandable. The question is whether or not Microsoft will offer a port of Windows 8 for the Transformer series of tablets.

  • Windows 8 comes with x8 the crashes! :D

  • what brand of tablet is this?

  • windows 8+ARM?

    I can't wait for kal-el based netbooks!

  • Apple is dead without Steve Jobs

  • @riff48 Even if Jobs wasn't dead, Apple would still be digging its own grave with these pathetic tablet lawsuits.

  • Windows 8 on ARM processors? Bring it on :)

  • @mrhozer yup, that's one of the key novelties in win8. Yet I'll stick to v7

  • Just want to know weather i can install or dual boot Asus transformer prime.. to run win8 + android as its Tegra 3??

  • but can it run crysis

  • Internet Explorer will Crash the device

  • @foxh8er ARM or not ARM doesn't matter, it's just a computer. As for touchscreen - a touchscreen device is a dock away from being a netbook, especially when done right (google for Asus Transformer). The beauty of Win8 is that it gives you touch-oriented UI for use with a touchscreen, and classic desktop to use with keyboard/trackpad/mouse - with seamless switching between the two. Running full MS Office in classic desktop mode is going to be a killer feature.

  • Why is Tintin sitting in the front row?

  • great, i will pay windows if they totally fix bsod first

  • Does this mean we're gonna be able to dual boot Android and Windows?

  • @gamefreak964 yes.

android will run as a virtual machine.

  • @dns809, there exist this "apps division" at Microsoft since 1980's. (BTW Apple is ape)

  • Looks pretty cool but microsoft isn't gonna beat google any time soon.

  • If they get Win8 out on an Asus Quad Core Transformer Prime for $400 the iFad is D-E-A-D!

Corporate America along with hundreds of millions of Home and Small Business PCs, Laptops and Tablets will be having Apples for lunch.

  • @AxeGlove i frickin agree and hope it will happen! Asus Transformer with Win OS is my dream. first day they have this configuration in shops im buin. otherwise transformer will be to me still just an awesome gadget. like android tablets and iShitPad - cool and with lots of nice features, but none of them really useful. i need a fully operational system, with for example advanced office editors + photoshop, lightroom + games etc etc, none of that is possible on alternative platforms.

  • Love android very much, but Windows 8 looks really interesting running on Tegra 3

  • Does this mean we can dual-boot Android and Windows since they're both compatible with Kal-El?

  • THIS is 1/2 of the EVIL AXIS!! MS as well as apple literally STOLE XEROX IP. apple BRAGGED ABOUT IT. SAID XEROX were "Just a bunch of copyheads anyway". So, what, you JUSTIFY stealing. So what is apple doing today? They get a MULTITASKING OS and mess it up so that IT WON'T properly MULTI-TASK. BSD is a known MUTI-TASKING OS. PC-BSD, FREE BSD. OH and notice the BOTH of these are FREE.

  • x86 is still the best... If you want to do EVERYTHING on your tablet, Windows is what you want.

Android is a bit less powerfull, because it's more of a 'phone OS' than a 'pc OS'.

  • Comment removed

  • the new Windows CE

  • Lets face it windows and mac are the best os to chose from, and heres why.

First forget how the pc works or even which is faster etc because most people have not got a clue. Linux even took KDE to the streets and show'd it off and many belived it was the next windows version!.

People walk into a shop and see on the shelfs games and software, they buy it thinking it works on their pc. They get home and pop it in and it works, with linux you have to run wine etc and thats too complex for them !.

  • Looks significantly slower on Tegra 3...but maybe it'll be awesome on Tegra 4...

Also, why not JUST have the tablet mode for ARM systems? Why would you use the "normal" interface on an ARM touchscreen device?

  • If it runs Windows 8, can it run XBOX 360 games? As I've heard Windows 8 will be capable of running 360 games.

  • @sonicblast19 lol are u kidding me xbox games are soo big

  • @javedkhan0258 I was ironic dude. There are not BIG they are rather quite demanding of hardware. As memory goes the tablet can have over 100GB of memry ,while a 360 game has an average of 6GB of requirement.

  • @sonicblast19 It's sarcastic, not ironic.

  • @AlexD907 OK,people do make mistakes :D.

  • FAIL

  • Nvidia coming out with a tablet with Microsoft? Hmmmm....will this go the way of the Zune?

  • it's look good on tablet.

but I don't think it'll good on desktop.

  • fuck windows

  • its so fat

  • @okocha12fan well its obviously not a final product^_^

  • Hmm intel menfield or tegra 3 which is faster anyone know? Not opinion which one is acutally faster?

  • @lizardmannnn you are comparing an architecture and a platform. medfield is an architecture, abstraction high level view. tegra 3 is a platform that has a define specification. fast in cpu or gpu processing? intel gpu sucks. there flagship intel gma 3000hd (cant really remember the name) loses to amd 6250 or 6310. tegra by nvidia and they are the desktop and console gpu maker beside amd. btw tegra refers to arm architecture. dun compare apple with orange. there r no benchmark result out yet.

  • @fiaker I think intels current fastest is the Intel HD3000 (its supposedly only certain K labeled processors like the 2600K) while being good, is just no match for amd's graphics chips. Ive had to explain to others the same when comparing architectures, its like comparing apples to oranges. Idiots just dont get it.

  • выглядит массивно ...

  • Am I the only one that thinks this looks a lot like the Zune HD?

  • @zfjquery It's because it isn't a consumer tablet, it's cheap to make them thick and since it's just for developers being thick is fine :)

  • how could you say waste windows is a superior os wat is better than windows................................mac a system so rigid that a takes a it student get under the surface mac or linux that isnt much on the surface at all

  • Why would you waste such a technology on WINDOWS~!

  • @Loocifur because about 90% of the market uses windows.....I'm not trying to start a OS war, but if we're honest, windows is everywhere, so why wouldn't they use it

  • @CodeJBDA ... it's understandable that windows has a strong hold on the consumers, but honestly for windows to make a deal with nvidia their feeling the pressure of android.... in all honestly.... my vote goes to android (not sorry Microsoft, you've been too much of a headache since windows 2000 and you still haven't gotten your shit together.)

  • @Loocifur because its the most popular operating system, microsoft paid for windows 8 to be on some tablets, and apple use their own shitty technology, while sueing everyone who comes close to it. Dont be sad though, there will be tablets with this technology that run android.

  • @jauffRINDIR Fanboy.

  • @statiouscom fanboy for what? My personal preference for computers is windows, my personal preference for mobile is android (or win8 if they do it right). I dont see how I'm a fanboy for thinking apple is a piece of shit. Windows IS the most popular operating system. Apple DO use their own tech, they DO sue a ton of people (even woolworths for some reason wtf). And there WILL be tablets with tegra 3 running android as well as win.

  • @jauffRINDIR Windows has the most developer compliant of any OS so it's only practical to go this route

  • @jauffRINDIR 4 months later: Everyone, including me, is dying with anticipation for the ASUS Transformer Prime.

  • @Skaarjguy funny enough so am I xD

  • @jauffRINDIR When you hear from 0:48 better you will know that this : "there will be tablets with this technology that run android." is wrong ...

  • @jauffRINDIR correction

while suing anyone who makes mobile os, especially when it's better than theirs

  • They used the word "App" D:

  • @dns809 APPLE?? WHERE ARE YOU?

  • @dns809 oh no apple will sue them for that!!!!!

  • @dns809 App as in application? Did Apple invent the word Application?

  • @katt157 Be their lawyer.

  • @dns809 App is just short for Application just because apple created the app store doesn't mean they coined the term

  • @dns809 Yeah, they used the word "app," it's been the abbreviation for application for over 100 years (in internet time;), as evidenced by the phrase from the late 80's "Killer App." Where are you going with that? Lol, does android (which i love, btw) have a trademark on it? Don't think so:)

  • @emu314159 Yeah tell that to Apple xD

  • @dns809 you know app = application, right?

  • @dns809 the word app is not just kept with apple....

  • @zfjquery its a developer tablet, its not meant for consumption. this is the same device that was shown for the demoing of kal-el on honeycomb. with arm soc's on windows you will still be able to get that ultra skinny profile that we are used to with products like the ipad and the galaxy tab 10.1.

  • This is Eric and he's a douchebag (Kijiji ad)

  • Looks like hell, that startscreen and keyboard are shit.

  • looks nice

  • Tablets need to get away from the 16:9 widescreen aspect. People are going to turn them sideways and read books and magazines...and they are too freaking skinny.

  • @Hoopermazing

and whats the problem with that ?

u want them to be square and fat ?

  • @CRAKIZGOOD No, you numbskull. I want to be able to read a magazine on them. You can always watch pillboxed video at 16:9, but you can't make a skinny screen any wider.

  • @CRAKIZGOOD exactly i second u,i dont like apple IMO but ipad size is much better for both reading comics and other books
