@Matty112uk Pacman sold in millions, the only critics are fans of the (obviously superior) arcade version. In the UK there was absolutely no collapse of the video game industry, as the market was so small. You're probably thinking of the US. Plus in the UK, micros were way more popular than consoles for most of the 1980s.
@filmnet I agree, it was the U.S. that was effected the hardest, it wasn't such an issue in the UK and Europe. Yes, I was refering to the U.S in relation to console sales.
I had a Commodore 64 in the early 80's, and my mates had Spectrums. There was a lot of pap on them too, but games were a fraction of the price of carts, so it had little effect.
@Matty112uk Pacman could've been better, but as with ET (a terrible game), Atari decided to rush the thing to be in time for some buying season or other. The gameplay is alright, but the graphics and flickering ghosts were terrible. The cartridge was £30, plus £120 for the console. 10p a time at the arcade was cheaper!

PAC-MAN, one of the worst video games ever, that and E.T. Helped bring about the near colapse of the console video game industry in 1983.

@filmnet In today's money the console would cost £320 and the game 60 quid.
