  • I'm sure you went as far as identifying the people in the video as law enforcement officers. You're identifying crimes committed. From your video, can you prove beyond a reasonable doubt, to a jury of peers, that these "people" were drinking alcoholic beverages?? What evidence do you have of a vehicle being operated under the influence of alcohol? In my opinion, your video is of poor quality, and is not "proof" of what you're accusing.

  • It was enough proof to start internal investigations in 4 jurisdiction, when the commanders in those jurisdictions confirmed the identity of the officers and asked for all the footage.

  • I have to say, some of these responses from cops and their supporters are typically arrogant. "After all, jerk, we serve." Yeah, right. So, you were having a little well-earned fun, eh? That's what have the people you took to jail last year were doing. Think about it.

  • Another argument for us to not wear our badges in DC...would anyone really care what these guys were doing then?

  • Yes, I would have had the same complaint as I do now. The law applies to everyone. Had non-LEOs acted the same way, I would have the same to say. The sad part is, had it been non-LEOs there would have been a response and the problem resolved.

  • Oh you got a response...The following night, May 14th, there was a LINE of DC cops outside the drinking establishment, to make sure noone had an open alcohol container in the street. Problem resolved...everyone went to the F.O.P. area on top of the garage where testimonies could be given and people weren't whining about bagpipes. Fantastic waste of money and police resources for a residential street that happens to also have a drinking establishment.

  • The PROBLEM is they did not respond SATURDAY, SUNDAY or MONDAY night. This is a YEARLY problem and we as residents ARE going to raise enough hell to get the problem solved. SO, if you have access to the FOP on top of a garage, go there next year and drink your brains out.

  • As far as the "drinking establishment," well, there are things in the works for them, when their ABC license comes up for renewal in Sept. Basically, they will either agree to some terms, or we are going to protest their renewal.

  • Bagpipes 666, Profanity will not be posted or tolerated.

  • Police (killed in the line of duty or not) put more people in jail in this country than they do in any other, and it still has the highest crime rate. They don't go to jail for drinking and driving, smoking pot, or any of that other crap. Hmm....

  • Not true, I know a few cops who have been fired for DWI ( and put in jail for it) along with getting arrested for drugs.

  • And, that means the law was applied equally to them as it should have been. Those cases are few and far between, but that show the system can work as it should and that someone spoke up.

  • A few cops? I doubt it.

  • Continuing: If cops do something "illegal", they should be punished as an ordinary citizen would be & removed from the force. They should be required to do their duty with courtesy and restraint, if they cannot, then they do not belong in law enforcement!

  • Agreed.

  • IMNSHO, because we put cops in a position of authority over all the rest of us, they should be held to a much higher standard of behavior. They should NEVER be allowed to do something for which any regular citizen would be arrested or ticketed, whatever the reason.

  • *** NOTICE****

I have official confirmation from DC MPD the female riding the SEGWAY is not a law enforcement officer. I apologize for the misidentification. I however do expect the DC MPD, to respond to her the same as they would anyone else for drinking in public and acting as she did.

JUST because she is apparently "a friend" to some of the law enforcement officers in DC, does not exempt her from the law. I apologize again, and will try to correct the video, without losing all the comments.

  • There you go. you were wrong about one. maybe you were wrong about others. You say the DC police identified the people in the video? What did they do next, knock on you door and tell YOU? 'Rear Window' my friend. It's Hitchcock.

  • As the person, who filed the complaint, I have had several conversations and meetings with DC MPD Commanders. Unlike you, I have common sense and have the ability to ask concrete questions, such as:

    1. Did you identify the individuals in the video?

    2. What action has been taken so far?

    3. What action will be taken as others are identified?

    4. When will the outcome of the investigations in their home jurisdiction be released?

  • The process in most jurisdictions I have worked or lived in is the complainant is always notified of the outcome of an investigation involving a formal complaint. There is also a great tool in this country called FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT.

  • I find it a little odd that you're so well versed in the complaint procedure for all the jurisdictions you have lived in. Have you really had THAT many negative encounters with law enforcement? Ever think you might be part of the problem??

  • Ever think I might have worked in local government? Don't make assumptions!

  • Funny I diddn't see one cop. I saw people drinking and celebrating life but I saw no police ID, no uniforms, no marked units, I saw nothing but a few, maybe 5 people tailgating. I saw a sedgeway. Oh!, that's right. DC cops use sedgeways. therefore I must assume it to be them just like the videographer assums they were all cops drinking. Wait!, I guess wearing t-shirts with badges stitched on the frontmakes them all cops. Gee!, I wonder where all the other 15 thousand cops were drinking.

  • The other 15,000 were apparently showing some respect for the residents living here. The people in the video except for one, have been identified by DC MPD. Letters to those jurisdictions have been sent, according to the officials investigating.

  • Fine! Then tell the good with the bad. Your talking about 'COPS' so talk about ALL cops. Oh and answer me this question....Did you ever drink beer whilst you were on vacation??? I'm guessing you did.

  • Yes, I have drank a beer on vacation, but never on a public sidewalk, never under a residential building, and I never disturbed the peace. The problem is, the other 15,000 officers, did nothing to curb the bad behavior of these officers. If they would obey the laws they enforce, there would be little need for anyone to ever complain.

  • I feat that too many cops are oversized juveniles. Having drinking parties on the street until 4 am is what stupid teens do for something for which they get arrested by cops. The real issue here is that cops are arrogant and assume the law doesn't apply to themselves.

There is no reason to "lighten up" one week a year so cops can break the law. And bag pipes, like them or not, are inappropriate in the middle of the night even if played by drunks with badges.

  • What a shame. It makes me sick to see that folks like "In the public eye" choose to spend time targeting law enforcement when he (or she) can't realize that even the worst cop on his (or her) worst day probably has done more positive for people and society than any camera-toting liberal will ever do in his or her lifetime. There's a whole world out there Mr. Public Eye....

  • I did not target these officers, they targeted the area outside my house to drink in public, yell, scream, and urinate. If you don't want "camera-toting liberals" filming you, control your behavior. FYI I am a card carrying Republican, so don't make assumptions.

  • Why does this surprise anyone? American cops are generally cretinous assholes who would be in jail in any civilized country.

Jersey cops are worst of all. Over paid losers/whiners/violent mental cases, who got their jobs through nepotism/croyism. Did you know that cops in North Jersey "earn" on average $100K/year?

If you'd like to see a lot more badge-fags in action, have a look at badcopnews-dot-com

  • Please keep the homophobic comments out of your comments. I happen to be gay and find it offensive.

The Maroon van everyone was drinking from had NJ tags, which were reported. Nothing was done. The only reason he stopped at all, was because he knew I was filming him.

  • Actually most cops are extremely homophobic. Calling them "faggot" really gets their panties in a wad.

BTW, great video of not so great jack-booted-thugs.

  • I am not a law enforcement agent, I again ask you to not use the term. If you continue to do so, your comments will not be allowed. I am asking out of respect for me and what I am actually trying to accomplish. Thank you.

  • I look forward to police week every year. Bagpipes are the sound of freedom. The city should have given them a permit to close down 5th St. between G and H. Put in some porta potties and more trash bins. I agree that they should not be operating vehicles but your star segway driver is not a cop but a local resident. So lighten up for one week out of the year and let our citizen soldiers unwind a bit. Any one of them may be one of the new names to go on the wall next year.

  • Bagpipes are great at 2:00 in the afternoon, or even 8:00 in the evening, not so much at 12:45 AM. There are families with small children living in the buildings on 5th Street, those kids deserve to live and sleep in peace, as do the tax paying adults.

Are you saying they cannot unwind without acting in such a disrespectful way?

  • I will take bag pipe music anytime I can get it. If your DC council ass has kids here I hope your

sending them to private school. I had to for my daughter. Dc schools suck. And I do have a rental in the Avalon.

  • I am not on the city council. I am a private tax paying citizen. What does the school system being beyond repair at the moment have to do with National Police Week attendees breaking the law? I don't appreciate the level of disrespect shown to the citizens of DC, and it does not have to be tolerated.

  • Is anybody surprised by this? Seriously, the "Just Us" system is thoroughly corrupt. Who doesn't know this?

But thanks for capturing it on video. Maybe some of the sheeple will finally realize that cops are the most dangerous criminals in the U.S.

  • They drank. A lot. But that didn't stop them from climbing behind the wheel to cruise dark streets with sirens blaring, and breaking countless laws they force the rest of us to follow...till 3AM

***Their excuse for this annual rioting is that by annoying, inconveniencing, and even terrifying DC's civilians, they commemorate officers killed in the line of duty. ***Well, why not? Those cops likely annoyed, inconvenienced and terrified folks while they were alive.

  • So let's see here:

    We've got

    - public drunkneness

    - public urination

    - indecent exposure

    - DUI/DWI

    - Disturbing the peace

Just off the top of my head. Yup, but that thin blue line will keep the cops safe won't it? Just like that idiot cop who ate pot brownies and then called 911.

Tyrants; the whole lot of them.

  • 3. Are you in fact saying that because they own a badge and weapon they are exempt from any law, from any jurisdiction and do not have to respect the citizens of other jurisdictions, and are allowed to do as they please, where they please and when they please?

  • 2. As an officer sworn to uphold the law, are you saying you only issue citations or make arrests when private citizens are falling down drunk or doing damage, when you receive complaints from the tax payers in your jurisdiction regarding public drinking, urinating on church steps, non-permitted parades at 2 AM and disorderly conduct?

  • My questions in response to the officer of 18 years.

    1. Are you actually saying that as residents and taxpayers of DC, we must first witness a visiting officer physically "fall down drunk" or "do damage" prior to our complaints of public drinking, bagpipe parades and disorderly conduct are to even be considered?

  • I am a police officer for over 18 yrs and have been visiting DC for the 15 of the past years during Police Week. What you left out is that all the streets in the area of the place in question are blocked off for several days and in all the years I have been there, there is usually over 10,000 officers and family members, and I have never seen a fight or injury. In watching this video, I still dont see where you have any officers falling down drunk or doing damage.

  • The street in question was not closed down. There were no permits issued for a "block party", nor was there any reason for them to be out on the street drinking, yelling, screaming and urinating on church steps.

  • flaherty440 (who claims to have been a tyrant (cop) for the last 18 years) says: "In watching this video, I still dont see where you have any officers falling down drunk or doing damage." --

But that wouldn't stop you from making arrests would it???? Just as long as the offenders weren't cops.

Besides, most of the laws you enforce don't harm anyone else...but yet you still think your oppression is a public service don't you?
