Greg, nice review. Hopslam by bells reminds me of 2x ipa by southern tier, except at a much more inflated price. Perhaps southern tier knows something that Bells needs to learn. None the less, hopslam is a very enjoyable beer and provides an excellent boat ride out on the lake. Unlike Greg, I have never tried "pliny the elder" perhaps I will eventually find that elusive beer an post my comment on it as well. Happy beer tasting all.

Did you think Hopslam was a little boozy this year? Still a damn good brew and ended up finishing a 12 pack, but the two hearted seems to be tastier.

I was on a waiting list for about four months, but alas it has finally arrived...an eight day old case of Hopslam! It was in such high demand at my wholesaler that the whole shipment was reserved and not so much as one case will hit the shelves. If only I could score some Pliny....

@Gregsbeerreviews Yeah, but I've heard that you can get it in Philly and in Virginia. My local wholesaler says they are trying to get it. I hope they become successful. At least I have Hopslam and then a case of Troegs Nugget Nectar coming in about two weeks.

I loved this beer when I had it. My friend that lives in Ohio brought some to me when he was visiting and it's definitely my favorite East coast IPA. Check out my vertical tasting of it with Pliny the Elder!

@simplyivan16 don't know what your looking for or whats available where your at. if your want a bud, miller or coors review, you won't like what grade they would get. most of them are 2 or 3's. to many good beers out there to try to drink than fizzy yellow water!! if you a specific craft beer reviewed, let me know. cheers!!

Awesome hoppy beer but It can not touch the West Coast double ipa's.I gave it it a 4 out of 5.My favorite personally is Pizza Port Frank,although that beer will never be made again.My second favorite is Ballast Point Dorado.Followed by several others before Hopslam.Sorry greg you know I love you.I am just putting in my .02.

nectar of the gods brotha, this beer really does live up the hype. i thought it was better than pliny the first time i had it. after doing a side by side this past week id say they are almost equal, maybe hopslam by a smidge. i think a PTY and hopslam fresh tasting would be more equal due to the high abv, but thats basically impossible since PTY aint going in growlers anymore....

Greg to save the beer cap I use the opener that was in Nov./ Dec. Draft magazine Page 94. It is a 3/4 inch square piece of oak 6-7 inches long with a # 10 panhead screw 3/4-1 inch long. Put the screw in 1 inch from the one end in the center leave about 3/8 inch of the screw out. The caps come off in good condition.
