If I remember correctly, two friends have told me that the bomb's explosion is in fact inaudible. I hate to ask if it has something to do with the psychological aspect of hearing something that is visually (a) trauma (of beauty?) in a pure form (a.k.a. the sublime). I looked at NYT photos and couldn't help but think: "piece of the sun," that even science could claim it to be. (The NYTimes audio if I recall correctly didn't go into the sound aspect of the bomb; Mr. Adams didn't seem to either.)
