I wholeheartedly support freedom of speech/expression, but that right also comes with responsibilities: there's a difficult balance to be struck between humour and offense. While I don't condone any violent or threatening reaction to the cartoons, I think it's a mistake to use the 'extremist' label for all the Muslims who were offended by them. Moderates can be offended too.
My own view is that if a faith is strong enough, it should rise above insults and ignore them.
The whole Denmark things is very unsettling. However, up until recently, Denmark has been a very homogenous society. Even today, over 90% of its population is of Danish descent. The influx of people from South Asia and the Middle East is upsetting the apple cart.
I'm all about freedom of speech. But, I'm also all about mutual respect and understanding. I hope it all works out.
I read about the whole Denmark thing kicking off again in the paper. Its ridiculous, like the whole teddy bear thing .. I'm not sure whether these extremists think they are helping or not O.o

The Danish situation continues to be very sad. Countries and people with good sense need to stand up against these pathetic forms of intimidation and infringements of free speech.
There are a lot of horrible things going on in the world today, but be thankful that you are blessed with love this Valentine's Day. It makes up for an awful lot. :)
