  • Amazing

  • I love the seedy underbelly style!!

  • Got a smoke?

  • My favourite quote from this film. "In the meantime, I got this plan. It's called "Save Ass". And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard! Classic.

  • I may...be paranoid...but..no...android

  • This reminds me of the xeon 2 megablast theme on the amiga...

  • if it aint broken, leave the fucker alone dick heads

  • and don't forget the ridiculously low budget of $100,000

  • ohyes247. yes, but im not giving it to you..

  • Sounds like the start of the main riff in Paranoid Android, anyone?

  • what a tune back in 1976!

  • Classic.

  • love this track nothing beats the original!

  • Are you swedish?

  • WHY DID THE BLACK GUY HAVE TO DIE?!

Such a bad death as well

  • @jackheaney He was my favourite character.

  • this is sooo fucking good luved the movie hate the remake

  • What a trip back in time...10 out'a 10

  • /watch?v=B44aEUawQM0

    Just blew my mind

  • God i love this film, so spare. Definitely features in my top ten.

  • It's a little bit familar to the Xenon 2 Megablast theme....woooo,talking about ripping...

  • @TheLambdaTeam this was made in `76!

  • haunting synth ..

  • I'm still angry that the black guy died. FUCK

  • @jackheaney

    total agree.

  • HOLLYWOOD STOP REMAKING JOHN CARPENTER MOVIES!!!! LEAVE THEM ALONE

  • Saw this with Warriors about 1979 at Hulme Aaben on hot sticky night. The night vibe around the place matched both films...effin scary!!!!!!

  • Just watched this for the first time a couple nights ago with my younger brother. I cant believe how lean and mean it is compared to the film industry today. Its a powerful film in its simple and direct approach. Like all things great it gets the job done so to say. Thank you John Carpenter for this classic! Come back and show the young ones of today how its done!

  • @OnlyTheRegret Awesome post. You got me inspired , man!

  • Madlib sampled this in a mixtape. Still shows that John had some serious chops.

  • Fuck yes.

  • CUT PRICE KING OF HOLLYWOOD, WITHOUT COMPROMISING QUALITY.

JOHN CARPENTER IS A FUCKING GENIUS.

  • dark.............brings back memories of me youth...........aint the same as the old days

  • The Remake sucked, it lacked the quality of the previous films actors, also, you knew who your bad guys were, there was always that unknown factor, you never knew where they were. It was a tribute to tough guys and gals of an older time. A truly great film. Bart.

  • Anoybody got a smoke?

  • @ohyes247 YEA GOT AMNESIA BRU, GOOD SHIT TOO HIGH AS A KITE HAHAHAH

  • This was an awesome movie !!! Better than the sequel , I think ..,,

  • MÖRDERISCH geil!!

  • Another great Carpenter theme song - The bit where the gang members are scouting the precinct in the movie is so creepy!!!

  • Carpenter is more than a genius..miracle..

  • BOMB THE BASS !!!!!!

  • i think its great the way he writes his own soundtracks

  • very good theme, epic movie, violence and hate!!

  • wat a fuckin tune wat a show here is originality at its best

  • top theme !by pop67

  • all his themes are quality, love the old synth sounds

  • Best line from this Movie for me was the fantstic Tony Burton saying I jump out that window, and I run like a bastard. Great Movie.

  • Where did you get this version from? It's by far the best!

  • This movie is a rare one to feature slam firing shotguns. Don't know what that is? Google it and educate yourself.

  • A true genius with many talents!

I must admit that in recent years I really miss his old energy. The last real Carpenter Thing was In the Mouth of Madness and Cigarette Burns for Masters of Horror.

I am so eager to see The Ward ! I hope the old man :-) will show them who is the monster-boss and that he will be back on track of serious horror!

  • Awesome film, perfect soundtrack

    The end

  • ein grosser filmemacher und ein grosser komponist.

    dieses stück ist nur schön!

  • why wud there be 2 dislikes? you clicked on the theme, you no what your getting, fuck off, carpenter is the man, such a legacy, every movie, long live, THEY

  • isn't this the music in Tron Legacy?

  • @Furze2 No, but the "Bomb the Bass" remix of this became the theme tune for Xenon 2. Famous old school video game.

  • @Sn0wc4t Yep - but I prefer this version of the music. Xenon 2 was never one of my favourite shooters on the Amiga - but I loved nearly all of the other Bitmap Brothers stuff

  • bomb the bass, megablast, i never knew it was called hip hop on precinct 13 because its based off of this..

  • This theme was in the 70s? It was way ahead of its time. This is excellent.

  • if you like this try Assassin by Mark Shreeve.

  • Comment removed

  • Love that creepy synth that starts at 00:56. Sounds like chants. It contrasts perfectly with the main melody off that hard-edged synth bass.

  • This is the koolest music ever. Sounds like a video game

  • It took Carpenter’s genius to show a soundtrack could be utterly unnerving.

  • Scade that there is no video.

  • The Hardest score in movie history.

  • ha this the beat three 6 mafia sampled for when god calls time out

  • Love this movie and so much better than the remake

  • This is a gang war tune, Watching the front of this dvd with this music makes you feel badass and dangerous.

  • This is where Xenon 2: Bomb the Bass: Megablast got it's intro music from. It is also used on Animal Planet in a commercial.

  • eargasm

  • cold-war music, eerie..

  • Devo impararla col basso! Non è difficile! =)

  • mates... This's a cholo...

  • grande carpenter, un artista completo, questo pezzo è un sballo! e che film poi, capolavoro

  • This has the fattest bassline of all-time. Moog 901 - The King!!

  • Halloween; The Fog;The Thing;Christine; The Philadelphia Experiment;Starman;Big Trouble in Little China;Prince of Darkness; They Live;Prince of Darkness;Village of the Damned;Escape from L.A.;Vampires...all good movies from him & the most of them had a great scor too. :)

  • @TheBRVCorporation the fuck can you mention escape from la and not mention ny? that was probably the best tune hes done aswell.

  • @mongoloidfred

You don't have to scold me.I could mention a lot of his films that had a good score...these were only examples.

  • @TheBRVCorporation you forgot Prince of Darkness ;)

  • You guys are all so right !!! Hug ya all :D

  • did he ever release an album of music not made for a film score?

  • this song puts the cholo on my brain

  • John Carpenter is a really underrated director Halloween,Escape From NY,The Thing are 3 of the best movies he's done and his music is kickass.Carpenter the legend.

  • @seanjeaici he's not really underrated he gets a lot of well deserved acclaim, but I suppose he's one of those great directors that no matter what he does will be underrated, and damn can the man write a tune.

  • @mongoloidfred Fuck ya.

  • Bombing Bastards,

    ever after,

    what do we do,

    we do the voodoo,

    send the energy,

    to an enemy,

    f*ck Ronnie Reagan,

    'cause I'm pagan.

  • this would make the best ring entrance music for a fight

  • That's true. And as a huge fan of him (even Ghosts of Mars), I'm looking forward to his new projects. And please, don't allow any more remakes of those classics.

  • I enjoy the early mean and lean Carpenter films before the mushy Starman and clusterfuck Ghosts of Mars.

  • my all time fvourite watched it first when i was a kid,i still have it on vhs could i get it on to my pc and upload it onto here as i cant find the full movie here

  • best music for a movie such as this one

  • I love the poster too...

  • i agree his movies r amazing and ppl dont understand wat he has done... his music for films is brilliant, i hope they dont make the remake of escape from new york; please dont

  • ditto. I still love this theme used it in one of my super 8 movies when i was a kid.

  • fascinating

  • The original Assault On Precinct 13 is a classic ! One of my favorites. It also has one of the coolest soundtracks ever, composed by the director himself. The theme has a minimalistic cold dark eerie quality which I love. I'd say this soundtrack was ahead of its time by close to ten years. I knew that the film had a cult following, but it was not until relatively recently that I discovered that the soundtrack did as well. I'm not alone in my appreciation. Cool ! ; ).

  • best song ever

  • Why are people arguing over John Williams and Carpenter, when you also have Morricone? It doesn't matter which of those three you prefer, they are all three great in their own right.

Carpenter is a law unto his own; directing, writing, and scoring most of his movies. Morricone changed the face of music forever, not just for movies. Williams has made some of the most memorable scores in history and his list of accolades is a mile long, deservedly. Enjoy them while we have them around still.

  • FTW Movie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm 『漢』

    I'm 『号泣』

  • Were did you buy or download this OST?

  • John Carpenter RULES

  • The scene where the female lead takes a gun shot to her arm always gets the same comment from first time viewers...tough Bitch.

  • As you can probably guess i think this is one of the all time greatest films, absolutely fantastic great score character depth and the baddest anti hero of all time Darwin Joston RIP bro....

  • When did he die? And of what, if you know?

  • @BladeAndStick He died from lukemia in 1999

  • @ap13napoleonwilson He's alive and still directing movies dude

  • A great Carpenter Film, with John Carpenters unmistakable and corresponding music.

  • I fucking Love this Movie and the soundtrack gives it a big boost! John Carpenter is the Man!

  • FANTASTIC!!

  • great movie theme. it has a eerie mood to it. enough to be featured on a horror film. great job by john carpenter

  • great soundtrack,great movie....

  • du- du du du daaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Yeah i love this film is is so funny. No Chicken taste like Turkey dinner though/ It just ain't the same innit

  • Carpenter is a genius... love all of his films. He really is a true master of all trades, be it directing, writing, writing music etc...

Actually, for me, one of the most critically UNDERrated movie directors of all time too. So many of his films are not appreciated by critics (Prince of Darkness being a notable one) while other directors who severely lack Carpenters style and ingenuity get constant praise.

John Carpenter I salute you - a true Legend :)

  • @CitroenC407 i agree with every thing you said but which "other directors" are you referring to?

  • Ha ha, well I probably got a bit over-excited with those comments - I don't really know who I'd put in... Eli Roth for one who seems to be highly respected yet the Hostel series isn't actually any good.

I'm actually not a huge fan of Wes Craven either, I just don't get his style - Hills Have Eyes wasn't all that, Last House on the Left lived off its content, Nightmare on Elm Street was good but wasn't THAT good.

Just all my opinion of course :)

  • yeh i love his style but i still rate roth though he's not up to carpenters standard, roth has a similarly culty kinda feel to his movies. but i gotta disageree with oyu on wes one of my favs. just one of those things

  • @CitroenC407 - Amen brother!

  • @CitroenC407 yeah you are soooo right John Carpenter is the king !!!

  • @CitroenC407 I agree, Prince of Darkness was quality. But Vampires was not great.

  • @djpeekay25 But the music in Vampires was awesome, and James woods are always great ;)

  • @CitroenC407 Sorry dude. AP13, The Thing, BTILC, They Live, The Fog, Halloween, Escape From New York are all some of the best films ever made.

Prince of Darkness is not. Not remotely.

  • This is one of the best mood setting songs ever. The movie would have been missing a key ingredient without it. It's much like The Warriors music. It sets the tone. Awesome.

  • What a fantastic movie and soundtrack. I first saw this movie in 1988 and was hooked. It's for sure one of carpenters finest films.

  • Everything's fine.

    Everything's Fine.

    Everything's Fine.

  • google: 911missinglinks

  • Could also easily have fitted on a horror movie. But hey, he became 1 of the masters of horror flicks, so no surprise! Great THEME! Also used in the mix from Bomb da base (megablast) and xenon 2 (videogame). 5 stars!

  • Simply incredible.

  • Awesome!

  • An absolute classic in a way kids today will never understand. John Carpenter re-defined genres all by himself by learning and perfecting his art he set the bar for all that followed (and fell far short).

  • That is completely true, he maybe did fall short but he left a legacy that will be forever and that is the most important thing in art, isn't it???:D

  • Yes my friend, you're absolutely right.

  • you're right, man. sometimes i feel i have been born a few years later than i should have. I'm really into old movies and songs.

But they are the reasons why i wanna geet into film.

  • There seemed to be classiic time, late 70's to early 80's when people that really cared about the art of filmaking and storytelling made their mark, look back and enjoy, but good stuff's still coming through 2day, keep your ear to the ground, but keep your bullshit sensor turned on, lol.

  • haha. you're telling the truth though

  • Amen to that man. I to am interrested in filmmaking. But I feel the industry isn't what it jused to be.

I wish I was born the same year as John Carpenter. The 70's were the ideal decade for starting a film career, they were much more open to new ideas.

  • Especially the types of films he had in mind, now this kind of film wouldn't get fucking anywhere these days....

  • masterpiece!

  • Yo quería el vainilla especial, boys

  • Hey, you got a smoke?

  • Got a light?

  • This is an awsome theme

  • Just a Few simple sounds... and what an impact..

  • Some people call that phenomenon ART!!!!

  • "New Years Day" - U2

    has sampled this song

  • Minimalistic and seriously cool.

Doesn't sound mid 70's at all. Could have been a mid 80's theme song.

  • Definitley like so much of Carpenter's work, well ahead of it's time in concept and execution.

  • @AlexDeLarge90 It sounds like 80's 8 bit music, in a good way. Can imagine this music on a C64 or Amiga game.

  • well said

  • @ojideagu

You're not far off. Bomb the Bass made their version of this song and named it Megablast. That one then ended up as the main theme of a 1989's classical vertical scroller shooter game: Xenon 2 Megablast by the Bitmap Brothers.

Funny how that game was the first time I heard this piece of music, then through that I found the film and loved that one too :)

  • So cool.

  • Napoleon Wilson = Hero

  • This movie has incredible atmosphere, partially thanks to this music.

  • john carpenter always has the best movie scores, hands down!

  • Yeah I think either this, Escape from New York or 'The Thing' probably would be my favorite movie theme.

  • @poopshooterwompaone Fuck you my brother. Fucking John Williams is best scorer.

  • @dobrobien They're both top notch at what they do, a John Williams score wouldn't sound right on a Carpenter movie anyway.

  • Comment removed

  • What a theme tune. Grabs you by the tenders and just doesn't let go. Respect to Mr Carpenter.

  • sweet..

  • Just got done watching the film and had to here the music again, a true classic cop film!

  • amazing sound omg

  • NO FUCKING WAY!!!

im randomly listening to this and an ice cream van is outside my house, with the same siren as the film!!!

    haha,spooky

  • cookie5455 - Was there a black car driving slowly past it? :O

  • i dunno,was too shocked to look!haha

  • If you see a girl lying down with an ice cream on her hands, i think you must start baricading your house
