I am an American and I understand that the russians use very dehumanizing training tactics making their soldiers more than just soldiers. Their training is so cruel that field work is almost second nature for them. I love my SEALS and Green Berets but the spetsnaz go through hell to achieve the level of specialty that they currently hold.

We do the same thing! war is a nasty thing as far as cowardly goes where else are they going to fight from. The purpose of fighting is to kill the enemy not to appear brave or cowardly. You may disapprove of their tactics but throw in the fear of a plane flying over head or an apache chopper or tanks and you may do the same!

The "welding helmets" are Maska-1Sch helmets, capable of providing full head protection against (IIRC) most modern assault rifle and pistol rounds. (5,56mm, 5,45mm, 9mm etc, not sure how they'd stand up to 7,62 though) Most conventional soldiers are trained to aim either at the torso or the chest, so combined with a suitable armoured vest operators are, in most CQB situations, bulletproof.
helmet is designed to provide protection from 7,62mm TT / 9mm Makarov / 5.45mm PSM as well as other pistol & submachine gun rounds. The helmet reduces the dynamic impact caused by the bullet due to its soft dampers on inside. Maska is equipped with a removable 2mm thick visor. Due to its weight, MASKA helmet is NOT designed for long periods of use, but rather for short periods of combat
it weights 7.5#'s now add the normal weight of combat gear ineffective. also you cant wear a gas mask.
the 5.56mm round will penetrate 3/8 of an inch which is .375 in decimal form. while the 2mm thick visor is 0.078 of an inch which is only about 1/16 of an inch. Doesnt hold up to the penetration of the 5.56mm round. also take a hit from somthing going 3200ft per second and tell me what it does when it hits your face sheild. I have see guys in combat get hit by a 7.62x39 round wearing a flack jacket with sappi plates didnt penetrate but knocked them down and hurt like a bitch.
5.56 is also a twenty two point three caliber. weak round. the 5.45, is a twenty one . sumthin caliber, and is more powerful(note, im talking about the ak74 5.45)

But anyways, the Green Berets are rarely ever mounted, and that has nothing to do with their combat skill. When Russia was in Afghanistan they were forced to leave, because they faced so many casualties. In the actual War, we faced very minimal casualties, we just stayed in there years longer than we should have, which is where all the casualties came in.

Spetsnaz are historically very deadly in urban combat, and, knowing the Russian military, probably have a shit-load of firepower behind them, as well.
Of course, that doesn't mean they are THE BEST. The SAS have near-perfect mission success, and SEALs have historical crazy-ass kill ratios. So the spetsnaz has decent competition.

I am an American and I understand that the russians use very dehumanizing training tactics making their soldiers more than just soldiers. Their training is so cruel that field work is almost second nature for them. I love my SEALS and Green Berets but the spetsnaz go through hell to achieve the level of specialty that they currently hold.

As far as the wars (We have won both wars, in fact in a matter of days on each. IT is just NATO and US Military Law/ Code of Conduct that we are not allowed to extract our troops until security is established. We'll be all out by August 2011).

First off, we're pulling out of a war that is 7 years overdue, we took Baghdad in a day, Sadam in 2, we only stayed to instate a secure and safe government, and we did that years ago, after that, we were just establishing relationships and fighting the insurgent forces left in Iraq.
Japan was not of greater size, in fact, we were only going to send 1/10 of our Active Duty troops, to all out invade the country. And when we dropped the bombs.

The US refers to the UN's Laws of War, RoE, it restricts us from doing what the taliban and alqaeda do, we also have morals, we're not going to sacrifice the life of a family.

The "welding helmets" are Maska-1Sch helmets, capable of providing full head protection against (IIRC) most modern assault rifle and pistol rounds. (5,56mm, 5,45mm, 9mm etc, not sure how they'd stand up to 7,62 though) Most conventional soldiers are trained to aim either at the torso or the chest, so combined with a suitable armoured vest operators are, in most CQB situations, bulletproof.

the 5.56mm round will penetrate 3/8 of an inch which is .375 in decimal form. while the 2mm thick visor is 0.078 of an inch which is only about 1/16 of an inch. Doesnt hold up to the penetration of the 5.56mm round. also take a hit from somthing going 3200ft per second and tell me what it does when it hits your face sheild. I have see guys in combat get hit by a 7.62x39 round wearing a flack jacket with sappi plates didnt penetrate but knocked them down and hurt like a bitch.

Any way, your point of view is understandable but mildly stereotypical. Now the non-contract military, that's by far the weakest part of the army. The real guys work for the army, not go there for 2 years and sit on their asses until some weak ass country attacks an ally or smthin (lol, Georgia). But, most of them still deserve respect, they're defending the country.

The spetsnaz have amazing hand to hand combat systems. their training is as tough as can be. Their weapon is said to be innacurate but they get their AKs modified to increase accuracy. These guys are number 1 but number 2 would be SAS. 3 would be green berets and then seals

Guys relax. Spectnaz are better than Seals, SAS, Green Berets. First of all, in all combat showdowns and competitions, the german special forces (KSK, GSG-9) took the last place, cause they suck. Spetcnaz nowadays is the best, cause there combat skills are incomparable. Green berets and seals and sas are ok, but not good enough. Go send them to Chechnya. They won't survive a day. But anyways, the Green Berets are rarely ever mounted, and that has nothing to do with their combat skill. When Russia was in Afghanistan they were forced to leave, because they faced so many casualties. In the actual War, we faced very minimal casualties, we just stayed in there years longer than we should have, which is where all the casualties came in.

Spetsnaz are historically very deadly in urban combat, and, knowing the Russian military, probably have a shit-load of firepower behind them, as well.
Of course, that doesn't mean they are THE BEST. The SAS have near-perfect mission success, and SEALs have historical crazy-ass kill ratios. So the spetsnaz has decent competition.
