in the most Islamic center's and madraas-e-dean it is normal to give chance to new hufaz-e- Quran to recite the quran in nafal prayer at night time after tarveeh or in some places they do more den one jumaat of taraveeh so the new hufaaz can stricly have more connection with mosque and quran ( SOME HUFAAZ after memorising leave the mosqe and in some cases they forget Quran)but if they recite quran in nawfil and tarveeh there contact with mosqe must be stong this kid must reciting in nawafil

I have seen worse then that in Houston I saw one 9 years old child was leading the fard prayer. he was only hafiz but he did not know any thing about quran I mean what he was reading he was like any other child many ulma says if there is a knowledgeable person who is not even hafiz but has more Islamic knowledge and takwa should lead the prayer. but child has Mashallah good voice. but I will not pray behind him at this age. but I will love to listen to him May Allah guide us all.
