  • do you have to raise the action at all to accommodate the string tension?. also how much more quiet are they as opposed to steel strings. i love these vids. please post more.

  • Nice sounding banjo

  • Are the nylgut all plain strings or is the 4th string a wound nylgut one? I really love the sound and your playing, many thanks

  • Hi. They're all plain strings. They take some getting used to. Thanks for the comments

  • nylguts for life!

  • Can you please record this? Its so nice and I want to listen to it more so than I have been listening to it on here. How is the goodtime? I'm considering getting one for myself.

  • Thanks. Nice of you to comment. I'll try and do another recording. The Goodtime was my first banjo and I still love it.

  • Congrats on not learning Scruggs style. Though I do want to learn some of the roll patterns I don't want to depend on them solely. I want to follow my own muse. Seeing your vid gives me hope.

  • Don't be disappointed, mat, that was beautiful - still - your "YAHHH" at the end was great. That's the warmest sound I've ever heard come out of banjo in my life, and it was refreshing to hear you play classical to some extent, rather than Scruggs style. I'm saving for a 'jo for the summer - wish me luck.

  • Thanks. I can't play Scruggs style. In fact I can't do any of the roll type stuff. I taught myself - bad habits and all! You'll love the banjo. A real organic instrument.

  • Thanks. Very kind

  • Great tune. Very emotional and mellow :)
