  • @91n93y - I bet a lot of the songs you like have samples... Rock, Alt, Techno, Country, etc.... Every kind of artist has sampled. Hell, Sweet Home Alabama was taken from an old blues song from around the 30's.

  • every song i hear myself saying "God, I love this song." Lupe is a genius

  • Second thing is there were 1 or 2 samples missing that I remember Lupe did that weren't in the video the first is "Rock Creek Park" by The Blackbyrds & I'm not sure what the other is but they're both used in "Outty 5000"

  • Those who hate sampling in hip-hop should learn some history beause the first official rap song known as "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugar Hill Gang was actually sampled sampled from a disco song called "Good Times" by Chic. It is becauseof the popularity of that sampled song that hip-hop broke out from House, Park, & Block Parties in New York to a worldwide fenomenon. So technically Hip-hop was founded by sampling other music.

  • Most of these samples all off of "Food & Liquor"

  • Why do people hate on sampling so much? It requires some skill and creativity to find a abd successfully use a sample the same tempo of the track that fits with the vocals. Better than having a song that ODs the snares, has an auto-tuned hook, and the rapper brags about how "real" he is and how much women/weed/money/people on his dick he has.

  • @MrRobinsonTv exactly....sampling is absolutely fine if you know how to do it the right way...it takes a certain skill set just to take something and make it yours to the point where sometimes most people dont know its sampled...sampling is one of the cornerstones of hip hop...only artists can sample...because they have an ear that tells them "oh it coulda sounded like this ".... sampling is the audible equivilant to a collage...point blank...

  • What about Who is She? by I Monster?

  • Hip Hop: Samples with a bass line

  • No Float On by Modest Mouse? That whole song was practically "sampled"

  • @FigishPig3000 The song wasn't out when this vid was made

  • @FigishPig3000 This is from 2008.

  • why you guys acting like sampling is bad? recreates music and makes it relevant again

  • @Sidthaakid thats whats up

  • @Sidthaakid About 25% of the music i own is music i found through other bands sampling and covering songs. Lots of bands in the industry take it as a compliment if their stuff gets sampled.

  • Every Hip Hop Artist/Producer Samples except Hopsin .Its called having no creativity ,as i see it.

  • @unknown1750 its called eat a dick. it brings genres together that otherwise would not have any association with each other

  • @unknown1750

Odd Future doesn't sample.. and they're better than Fagspin... I mean, Hospin.

  • @unknown1750

Explains why you deleted your comment. Any future responses will be invalid. Just stop.

  • @AvvRham maybe thats why odd future beats sound like someone is jacking off with sand paper

  • @shutthefuckuploser

You're actually right... Fuck OF and Hopsin.

OF and Hopsin are irrelevant to the rap game unless you're depressed and you need something to vibe to.

  • I mean.. Fagpsin.... *Hopsin

  • Kanye west Samples

  • what is that song with nestle as a sample?

  • Comment removed

  • Correction. The best hip hop is sampled

  • theres a song. somewhere it farenheit 1/15 where he uses a sample from vermillion. anyone know?

  • The sample to Gold Watch is so random.

  • Not ALL of hip hop is sampled. there are many rappers out there who dont always use samples. Even some of Kanyes songs arent sampled. But, it does seem like all of the good hip hop songs have sampled beats to them.

  • I was wondering where that "Gold Watch" sample came from!, that's my favorite beat Lupe has got on! :D

  • this just made me go into lupe mode haha - @deshon300

  • damn alot of these are just the original beat with drums added..lupes producer isnt very orgininal

  • @mattfitz96 The originality itself is finding and executing the sample well within the hip hop instrumental.

  • What's the song 1:19 ?

  • @SmooveDoctor "The insurmental"

  • regardless of how the track was made, they are hot tracks that make the listener listen to the original thus exposing the listeners to an entire new artist and appreciate more music. It's what music is really about

  • It's one thing to sample a small portion or a few seconds or even a sound from another song. But that Modest Mouse "sample" is the whole hook! That's talentless BS, just like Flo-Rida's song where "Blue badabee" and the other song with "Right Round" are 100% uncreative using the same melody but just changing some of the words. It's not helping expand Rap Music, and it's hurting hip-hop culture if you ask me. People will think all rappers have no talent.

  • @dozer11 Rappers rap. Producers sample.

  • @yemenohman but you don't think he had any input in that song? It's his third album isn't it? By then you'd think it's his name and face on that track. Yes, I know, "rap is what we do, hip hop is what we live". I'm just saying that songs like that aren't helping the image of rappers. Most people don't even care who produces a song. Most people don't say "oh that's the new Rick Rubin track!"

  • @dozer11 I agree. Being a producer myself, sampling is a monster that has grown way out of hand. It went from being a three word cut that was used creatively, to a lazy excuse to put a new beat behind an old song, or even the same beat, have someone rap over it and call it a new song. Its more or less just a cover of that song with the original artist getting no credit. But I still think its important to separate the rapper from the producer, even if theyre the same person sometimes.

  • @yemenohman how many number one hits do you have using no samples ??

  • @TheRiseofFino We're not talking about no samples fool. we're talking about oversampling. :P

  • add Float on by Modest mouse to the list

  • He left out funky drummer by James Brown; it was sampled for the song the cool

  • this isnt as dynamic as the kanye samples video....maybe its cause lupe had no part in makin these samples =D

  • Lupe is just plain lazy!

  • @gab197 he doesnt make the beats the producer make the beats for him

  • @gab197 go ahead and try to make lyrics like his. please send me a picture of your brain oozing out of your ear and then call him fucking lazy.

  • whats the name of that very last song

  • @2mindz Streets On Fire - Mathew Santos

  • You forgot "Eleanor Rigby" by The Beatles on "Go-Go Gadget Flow"

  • I GOTTA GET UP ON MY MUSIC HISTORY this shit is dope

  • Kick Push sample was dope...I wish I could find samples like that haha.

Gold watch sample made me laugh a bit lol crazy though haha

  • Soundtrakk Is Crazy & Eff You If Your Anti Sampling

  • makes me sad to know that rappers don't makes beats they just steal them or an rapper term "borrow" it

  • fresh to death. good work

  • lupe didnt sample any of this...his producer did or whoever was makin the beat

  • "Life on Mars" sample on "The Cool" is so legit.

    Epic level dope.

  • what about show goes on?

    Float on- Modest mouse

  • @marz10100 Video came before song.

  • @marz10100 this video was made in 08........ a very long time before that song was made

  • Why do people think Lupe himself picked these samples and made these beats? Producers never get props =/

  • The "Streets on Fire" sample is Rob Dougan's Clubbed to Death...you got that one wrong buddy....

  • @cedric021MAT hahahah! ...

  • he must have really good taste in music because he samples really good music

  • @lt081 the producers have good taste in music*

  • check out my remix on Lupe FIasco - I Gotcha

  • I always thought the exact Lupe Daydream sample was from Daydream in Blue by I Monster.

...which was a cover anyway but yeah..

  • Can i ask you a question? Why was Food & Liquor one of the hottest records EVER even though it was bootlegged?

Lupe is just a genius and you have to admire him for that!

  • All Of Hip Hop is sampled!!

  • @langa209 except the wack ppl. i feel bad for whoever waka flocka sampled...

  • @yeaboymanidude nobody. his producers uses synthesizers and 808s to make his beats

  • @langa209 are the roots sampled???

is the new shit like drake and Ace Hood... is that sampled??

    not all of hip pop

  • @HLordz301 no. this is wy they'll never be hip hop.although drake samples a couple of times

  • @langa209

only bad hip hop is sampled. yeah, it takes a real genius to rap over another song...

  • @91n93y so what ur saying is everybody in hip hop is shit... because im pretty sure almost every producer out there has sampled. without sampling hiphop wouldnt have the same history

  • technically lupe didnt sample the song, it was the producer.....

  • Do any of you guys know what he sampled for "Ooh" from Fahrenheit 1/15

or at least who produced it?

  • The song "The Cool" was produced by Yeezy just so y'all know haha

  • @MrSupraD Because Kanye West is a gayfish.

  • @johncp1989 kanye is a genius.. ur mad because u cant do what he does as good as he does. jus because he spoke his mind about some chick doesnt mean anythings wrong with kanye.. he simply expressed his right to freedom of speech. an the comment "gayfish" is so gay/immature... grow up an enjoy the music. let them handle there situation an u enjoy what he does best which is make great music.

  • @johncp1989 lololololololol, OMFG

  • the first one is wrong. technically lupe samples I Monster's Day dream in blue, which in turn sampled Wallace Collection.

  • man, i wish it told you the song he made it into

  • @chefkahana lol I could personally tell you which ones I know at least 75% at the least of his music and I could tell you just from hearing the samples..

  • Comment removed

  • Ahh missed out "theme music to a drive by"

  • Lupe actually sampled "Daydream in blue" by I Monster

  • I always gave Kanye mad props for The Cool, but now that I know it's Dexter Wansel, I'll ahve to reconsider.

  • @yankees1234577 kanye made used the sample to make the beat so i'd still give him credit.

  • [sarcastic laugh]

    seriously. i'm looking for names.

  • San Juan Sunset and Do Whatever Turns You On Pt. 2

  • what lupe song is at 4:52?

  • lol why is it ok for lupe but not kanye lol,,fuk i love sampled music

  • @MrSupraD

because EVERY song kanye does is sampled...no creativity

  • @lilross2k6 More than half of 808's and Heartbreak is made without samples... it is probably his worst album but still some solid tracks were created from scratch. Also, sampling and turning old tunes into something new is super creative.

  • @MrSupraD I like sampled music 2 one of the essentials of hip hop..

  • @MrSupraD its cause wen lupe samples he doesn't butcher the original. all good hip hops sample now and then , but kanye not only does it poorly he does it for all of his songs.

  • @MrSupraD true that... kanye is one of the best at the game of sampling in the game today... lupes got some fresh samples too tho ...

  • @MrSupraD Because Lupe's EGO is not as big :) haha.

  • The Sample of "Pressure Cooker" by Thelma Houston @ 2:23 sounds like every bad evening News intro from the early 80's:

"It's Action 5 news with your hometown reporters Laura Metcalf and Lester Brown. A look at the weather with Kip Herzog, and Julius Dockerty with your sports wrap-up."

  • @dabidosan haha it reminds me of anchorman
