@raremountainbear I would love too, and replace it with the clean copy I have on disc, but I can't figure out how to contact YouTube personel so I cas do it without losing the 83,000 hits I have on this video.
Beautiful song. All songs from that album are. Luka and Tom's diner are great, but the radio stations at least in Norway keep playing nothing but Luka. I'm sad they never pay any attention to these other great songs. Love Calypso and Gypsy so much, sing them for my kids every night and they calm down so well.
I'm reading the Odyssey in my English class and in between the little story summaries in our text book the lyrics to this song were in it. I immediately recognized her name because I love Tom's Diner so much, and I surprised my teacher because she's not really "my era". But it's really sad that she's not because the music of "my generation" pretty much sucks. Thank god we have Internet :]
@iCanbEYOURrUKIA Yours is not the first surprising comment by a 'young' person that I have come across recently. I have horribly underestimated today's teenagers. You made me smile and that is a rare thing. Thank god we have the internet indeed. : )
@iCanbEYOURrUKIA Congrats to having the "independence" to breakaway from the current "corporate" music mentality. In general, young kids don't know "who they are" or "what they like". Music corporation's spend billions to program you guys. Nuff said. If you like Suzanne Vega, check out 10,000 maniacs, Smiths, Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees for cool 80's stuff. More contemporary Portishead and Catpower. Enjoy.
wonderful song!!! so inspirational! wow..who knew someone could make such beautiful music?? i wake up to this song everyday and i love it so much. brava!!
the myth is written from ulysses' point of view. i've not run across another account of the tale from calypso's point of view. ulysses was actually on calypso's island for ten years. suzanne did write this song, and the whole album is pretty fantastic. tom's diner is from this album, and small blue thing, and the queen and the soldier.
He was on her island for 7-years when ordered by Zeus to release him. He was in Troy for ten years; at sea for three; and spent 7-years with her. Twenty years total away from home (Ithaca).
This is a better version than the studio one.

This is horrible quality audio. You should delete this, it ruins the song.

@zimmercj It breaks up A LOT. I just tried it again. Yikes! But it sounds like it's a great song nonetheless. :)

Wow! after so many years she's still so nice to hear. I love her girlish, satine voice. Great singer, seems to be a nice, withdrawn person too.

@RaunchyRocker I get the impression that this was shot with a zoom lens. I don't think that guy was really very close to the stage.

(Yet - to me - there is nothing like the old studio version that I still have on audio-cassette ...)
