I have a much better way of getting rid of people who commit violent crime while using a gun. When an arrest is made against someone who uses a gun or weapon lock them away without bail and other baby sitting programs. If they are a violent person then arrest them and take the gun away and lock them up in prison IF they hurt someone. Then take the gun you took from them and give it to law abiding citizens so they can protect themselves. Guns in the hands of law abiding people save lives. Wake Up

This will let you buy a long gun or bb-gun. (yes bb gun's are considered firearms in NJ) Then to get a handgun you need another permit each time you buy one.

Last time I checked a gun is an inanimate object. It cant jump up and kill someone by itself. So if you are trying to fix crimes caused by guns how about a program designed to educate people on firearm safety. And just outlawing something isnt going to stop it. Last time I checked murder has happened everywhere and throughout all of history, it wont ever stop. I have watched crime stats for many years, researched some cases and have known a few police officers. One thing that all these shootings have in common is 95% of the time the people that get killed needed killing. Sure, its too bad for some family members but then again most of these people wouldn't be very good providers if they were in Jail where they belonged instead of getting shot!

Just in case anyone is wondering, it's next to impossible for a law-abiding citizen to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon in NJ. (Only those well connected and retired/active LEO can carry) And, to get a gun lawfully in NJ you need to give 3 references, get fingerprinted and have an extensive background check run. This will let you buy a long gun or bb-gun. (yes bb gun's are considered firearms in NJ) Then to get a handgun you need another permit each time you buy one.
