Okay okay okay so when I put together my musical based around 80s music and high school lovers this is the Act 1 Finale song when the main character confeses their love for the girl and is determined to win her back and it's all WHAM BAM EPIC MUSICAL SYNTH and everyone cheers and smiles because. let's face it, life is good when that happens :D
i absolutely ADORE survivor. it sucks that youtube is about the only place that still has their songs. im only 17 but this is my most favorite band!! Can't Let You Go is an amazing song. i wish i was born in like 1960 or something lol
@ffrnemtprn haha its odd 'cause at the moment i just cant wait to get out of here! :D but ya thanks. nobody knows who survivor is/was. it breaks my heart lol id give anything just to see jimi live anywhere now. :)
this damned song and High On You, were songs that my ex husband gave to me on 45 records, 27 years ago..said they made him think of me and us together...I always loved these songs..but now, Id like to have them playing while i stomp on his balls...ROLMAO
I miss the 80's SOOO much...when the word 'Autotune' wasn't in our lexicon, and music wasn't afraid to mix sensitivity and testosterone in an unapologetic in-your-face blend of feathercuts, glam, and attitude.
This song is so beautiful!! I get chills everytime I hear it. I bought the cassette tape in 85 and listened to it over and over! The melody is beautiful and the heavy power guitar hanging chords , something that is rarely done anymore .I get so high hearing hearing music like this
@kalmanizer I agree and heres why, back in the 60s music took a wild and creative turn, so the youth of the 60s who didnt have todays electronic distractions, turd to music,by the 70s there was a music store on every corner.I got my 1st electric guitar in 76.Every other kid in urban America was learning to play.so by the 80s there was hundreds of bands to choose from in every catagory. Also there were no real wars and the economy was ok so songs reflected love and good times. Now kids play xbox
@504Anon ok. first of all you didnt have to call me a fucking idiot for that. and all im saying is that i cant hear the similarities and trust me i wanted to find similarities.
something else about this good music is 10 years from now ull be able to go back and listing to it again and it will still be good and other thing is i still hear classic 80,s stuff on the radio today ,
No computerized crap music will ever come close to the power and intense feeling that came from these great artist who actually had talent and not just an image with a computer behind them to make them sound ugghh I dont want to say good but you all know what i mean. oh and also really sad that when you type survivor , the 1st thing to come up is destinys child. errrrrrrrrr

What an awesome written and well performed song. The 80s really produced some outstanding singer, songwriters and bands, and incredible range by todays standards.

@jaecht83 "standard version," refers to the time length of the track. there are 3 versions - basic, standard and premium. that is why different videos of this same songs are different lengths. different/longer solos, more shots of the musicians, etc. they also do this for cds. the basic will have just songs. the standard may have the songs, plus live tracks, and premium will have the songs, live tracks, remixes of the same songs, or demos, studio versions or even acoustic versions.
This is real music, definitely. I was born in 1989; this kind of music I'd enjoy in my younger years, and then wish I had in my later years. Props to people who keep this stuff alive!
I'm looking for a song for a long time and i just can't find it.. it is just like the style of Survivor and from those times and the lyrics goes likes this: "saaave me darling.. " and "giiiive me something" and "i'm on an over.. " very good song and i really want to find it..
Yes, I agree deelberg. Jimi Jamison would have been a good lead singer for Journey after Steve left. I think after Survivor broke up, Jimi went to go solo? Now he has his own CD and stuff. Saw him in Chicago a few weeks ago, He was there for Jim Peterik's (Co-Founder of Survivor) World Stage Event. It was amazing. They had Loverboy there and Night Ranger. And to top it off Jimi. A rock and roll night to remember. SURVIVOR STILL LIVES!
I am 53 years old,and these bands from the 70s & 80s were our idols. It's amazing how their great songs still impact the younger generation, some not even born when those songs were hits! It proves that music was created to become timeless!
@CavemanJesus4Life cool name by the way.....The Poodles are awesome. i am a staff writer for a hard rock/heavy metal website, so i get a lot of music from Europe. the new hotspot seems to be Finland. but if you like AOR try these bands - Northern Light, Land of Tales, From the Inside, Kyhmera, Place Vendome, W.E.T, Starbreaker or Work of Art. so many incredible amazing bands. and if u like The Poodles check out, Outloud, Poets and Pornstars, Wig Wam, Big Cock, Fatal Smile, and Airborne.
@TheShanek911 Hell yeah WET with Jeff Scott Soto, love them. And is Khymera from Findland? I thought Dennis Ward was an american? Got Place Vendome, Kiske kicks ass. I would have to check out Land of Tales & Nothern Light, thanks for the heads up on them.
If you have any female vocal lead Hard Rock bands holla at me. Fan of Beautiful Sin/Virus IV, Floor Jansen, Old & new Nightwish
@CavemanJesus4Life no, Khymera has members from America (bassist/vocalist Dennis Ward) Italy (drumer Dario Ciccioni/keyboardist Daniele Liverani) and British guitarist Tommy Ermolli. Land of Tales is a Finnish band and Northern Light is a project of brilliant Norweign guitarist Tor Talle (who has played with Joe Lynn Turn. like female fronted bands? check out Delain, Kyrpteria, Eyes of Eden, Unsun, Amberian Dawn or Katra. Also, if u like Soto, listen to his early work with Eyes or Takara.
@TheShanek911 Is your site the RevelationZ review site, by chance? Regardless, I was looking at their reviews for the various Pride of Lions and Kamelot CDs. It was the first time that I have encountered other people that also liked both Pride of Lions (and by extension Survivor) and Kamelot.
Anyhow, I also like W.E.T. and Khymera. I don't know if it is just me, but with the first Khymera CD, with Steve Walsh on lead vocals... sometimes his vocals reminded me a bit of Jimi Jamison.
@Foxfire444 no, i write for hardrockhaven(dot)net. yeah, Jim Peterik is all over the AOR map with Ides of March, Chase and having written tons of hits for other artists. i agree with the first Khymera cd is good, but their latest, "The Greatest Wonder," was just an amazing melodic rock cd. i wonder though with the death of Marcel Jacob (who many people don't know was the original bassst for Europe when they were still known as "Force,") will W.E.T. make another cd.
@maurojor1 i totally agree with you man im still 26 years old and i prefer the old music rather than the current songs and this bands have something that i cant explain
@maurojor1 i know its a comment 7 months ago but needs to be said :)
Yeah you're totally right..look at meatloaf, alice cooper etc and they have been going for ages. Bat out of hell even took over 1 year to start because no company would accept him..years later its still going strong, then look at bands today..N dubz..50 cent..Mcfly..who can see people like that still going in 20+ years? music today sucks and im only 17 =S
@maurojor1 I'm 42, and I just took my 17 yr old daughter to see Pat Benatar and Reo Speedwagon, she grew up listening to my music. She was totally amazed she said!
This is a great song from way back makes me remeber the summer of 1984 went to his concert and its not like todays crap it was wow the girls everything it was great i wish we could go back amd do it again

@maurojor1
I totally agree,,,I am 44 years old, you hit it on the head!!!!!!

@maurojor1 I agree, most of todays music is packaged to only mainstream music which soley based without any feeling or originality.
Im happy to hear that many European acts are coming out with more & more of this music. Check out Brother Firetribe & H.E.A.T. They are F'n incredible

@TheShanek911 I love AOR bands, and Im hearing a lot more and more in Europe. The Poodles is the new band I discovered lately and they kick ass
CavemanJesus4Life 1 year ago

CavemanJesus4Life 1 year ago

Foxfire444 1 year ago
@Foxfire444 no, i write for hardrockhaven(dot)net. yeah, Jim Peterik is all over the AOR map with Ides of March, Chase and having written tons of hits for other artists. i agree with the first Khymera cd is good, but their latest, "The Greatest Wonder," was just an amazing melodic rock cd. i wonder though with the death of Marcel Jacob (who many people don't know was the original bassst for Europe when they were still known as "Force,") will W.E.T. make another cd.
