  • 1 person grew up without a TV

  • I always wanted to be one of the kids on Sesame Street,

  • Love this!

  • Classic Sesame Street! I love this song. We watched this repeatedly on a road trip some years ago, at the demands of my 3 year old little sister and I have loved it ever since. Can' t help but smile when the kids begin to sing :)

  • comon jenny please let him come home jenny can he come home can he can he come tonight

  • me and my daughter watched this a billion times. it was on a sesame street tape called 'sing yourself silly'.

she found this and forwarded it to me from her dorm room at UCR.

    ...time flies.

  • My son was but a babe, playing a Sasame Street video for him I fell in love with James Taylors voice. Since then I have become one of Sweet Baby James greatest fans. Seeing JT in concert and meeting him is top of my bucket list! YAYA

  • @YaaYaa1968 Do make the effort to attend a JT show. I have seen him many times. You will love it.

  • @LethiaPage amen! i'm losing count @ this point. he's my favorite artist to see live ever. <3

  • Hooray for the tuba player!

  • @connman95 hoomph hoomph. oomph oom pah pah.

  • My baby brother is named after him except his last name is "er" spelled like this" James Tayler

  • How high is James Taylor during this show? Too bad he is into herion then.

  • You said "is" present tense incorrectly. It's funny, JT never hides his PAST that included drug use. He isn't any higher on this video than you were when you wrote this. You WERE high right?

  • @andytechie

I had no idea that James Taylor was into herion! Thank you very much for the infromation!

  • i remenber this from wen i was little! omg!

  • There are so many songs from Sesame Street that are catchy and easy to remember i can not even remember them all; i am 26 going on 27 i still love them today; this one is a classic example.

  • @Nightmastercool97

I am 41 and I am crazy about "Sesame Street" songs!

  • @Smartboy8877 I am 42 and equally nostalgic. I freakin love SS.

  • @LethiaPage

Very pleased to have met you!

  • @Smartboy8877 Back atcha Smartboy! hahha! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOA can he come home Jenny?

  • @Smartboy8877 likewise Smart Boy, good to meet you too. We must have the old school good stuff in commmon. I love JT and I love SS and so this is a real super treat. Remember .Everybody Sleeps...and I'm a Cow Dog?

  • James Taylor certainly did a great job of singing "Jellyman Kelly" with the kids, don't you think?

  • That was me in this video with James Taylor. I'm between the blonde kid and the black girl. Funny that made it on here as well, good thing cuz I thought I lost the VHS of it. Thanks to whoever put this up.

  • Oh My God!

Haha, I used to always watch this vid when I was little.

haha, its funny seeing you guys batte out the "OOOOHH Jelly Kelly Come home"

    haha

  • @Munk3yBoi

I had never heard this song before. Does anyone know when it appeared on "Sesame Street"?

  • I made sure that every baby in our family has had this, the VHS that had the James Taylor

songs on it since they were on TV...His kids were small then too...His sense of humor has always been great...He shines here...A classic

  • I remember this, though to be honest, despite how easily it got stuck in my head, I really hated it. No offense to James Taylor.

  • Awesome video!

  • It sure is.

  • aaaahhh memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember this song but the only thing I retained after 26 years was "Jenny can he come home" and "yakka yakka yakka".

  • Holy eardrums! I couldn't imagine being James at the chorus. Wows! Those kids are SCREAMING those lyrics!

  • Especially considering how friggin' high James appears to be.

  • I remember watching this when i was watching it i used think he was saying jelly bean kelly lol and it was funny cuz i had a cousin named kelly i would call her jelly kelly lol

  • I wish i had been about 25 when this was made....ohhh james taylor...

  • Thank you so much for posting this. This was one of my favorite songs when I was little!

  • Thank you.

  • Tom Selleck?

  • Okay, I have tears running down my cheeks & wobbly knees. God love the internet. My son names his doll (we were preparing him for the birth of his brother) Jelly Man after this song, which we watched repeatedly. The tape was lost, and Jelly Man was torn limb-from-limb within weeks. He's still working on his brother in the same capacity. We often remembered this song & sighed wistfully. Now we get to sigh wistfully while actually viewing it!

  • @pamcoz

    Your life certainly seems busy!

  • @pamcoz

That is a very interesting story! Thank you for sharing!

  • That's okay, latino boy, you can first make James Taylor's stomach turn, and then you can play your guitar in 1978.

  • Is this a Latino boy wearing overalls?

  • I wonder where all of these kids are now...

  • @Dulcimerist

    porn

  • James Taylor looks very much like Rob Reiner in this video, doesn't he?

  • I liked Howard Johnson when he played for the New York Mets and helped to win the World Series...

  • I liked his restaurant, when they still had them in NY! LOL

  • I love James Taylor! He is one of my favorite singers of all time. I was probably introduced to him by Sesame Street. What a great song this is. I thought James Taylor and Howard Johnson gave each a high five at the end of this. Am I wrong?

  • I love James Taylor, too. And he's also my favorite singer, too.

  • Jelly Man Kelly is that disgusting French song in 1979!

  • I disagree completely.

  • A song "I Hate Boys" what a bratty Animaniac girl Dot Warner sings soudns a lot like "Jelly Man Kelly" by James Taylor. At the beginning of the song, Dot Warner gets upset. At the middle of the song, she was joined by her brothers Yakko and Wakko. And at the end of the song, she gets angry with and yells at Yakko and Wakko.

  • is that cat stevens performing this?

  • No it's James Taylor.

  • and Howard Johnson.

  • A five-star celebrity moment: I miss the days when celebrities on Sesame Street would perform songs from their normal repertoire, not just parodies or "written for the show" numbers.

  • I also like the way celebrities usually just pop up out of nowhere, with no introduction and no fanfare. They just appear.

  • So do I.
