  • so noisy and tasty

  • Wasn't this the pre-Tom Hingley version? I think the singer went on to the Rainkings, and Tom Hingley took over on vocals.

  • i may be wrong but was this John Peel's single of the year, 1989? He wasn't often wrong about good tunes. RIP JP. Funny people on here talking about how much they paid for carpets tunes, i have plancecrash ep, trainsurfing and many more on vinyl, and they have no monetary value to me as i could never sell them! still have the price sticker from piccadilly records on Trainsurfing too!!!

  • @ericsrightboot i think it was the tom hingley version that was his recordof the year. both are cool songs tho.

  • Tom Hingley got me through many a bad day..Loved him them and stil do...COOL AS F@@K.......still got the t shirt.....

  • Brings back so many fantastic memories: Afflecks, Eastern Bloc, the Hacienda, Joe Bloggs, Spike Island. Oh, they were the days.

  • Pain is one thing tying you to that girl

She has got your head in a whirl

Now if you ever promise me

Then I'm sure that you'll be free

Pain is the one thing tying you to that girl

She has got your head in a whirl

  • You can see inside of me that something is going down

You can see inside of me that something is going down

Now there's only thing you can do

Because only you really know what you are going through

Now if you're ever on your own

Think what it's like all alone

Now there's only thing you can do

Because only you really know what you are going through

Disagree about all modern music being totally shite.

Agree about You Tube being a life saver for when you leave all your old school records at your mum's house and then she takes them to Oxfam.

  • I got THE LOT !

  • great tune. saw them supporting the wedding present in edinburgh around this time (1988?). they went rapidly down hill when clint boon started cutting about in a shell-suit, though. pity.

  • I saw the Carpets in the basement room of a pub in Fulham with about 25 people when this single had just been released. I could touch Clint Boon's organ! Happy memories.....

  • Fav inspirals track. Fucking great tune.

  • wish i was back in 1989 again.john peel r.i.p. played this to death.moo!

  • Mate go get yourself a pint.Probaly one of the best comments I've read on YouTube.I''ve got a little 1 year old girl now and I love her so much but when I go down the pub with the boys we also end up talking about the halycon days of the mid to late eighties.

We were all lads from the terraces with fringes an straight jeans and then went to longer hair in sheds, flares, ecstacy and obsessed with the music.

Those were great times mate eh !

Are you Bohemians ? Am Celtic

  • Very Awesome!!!! The Inspiral Carpets with this great single!!!! Moo!!!!

  • I feckin love this tune!
