No. They actually recorded Riding The Storm Out with Kevin singing originally. Just before the completion of that LP, Kevin quit the band citing musical differences. So They rerecorded the LP with Mike Murphy's vocals....
PeterCriss I think you misunderstood what I meant. I meant like did he literally get rid of the master recordings(recording sessions). It's hard to find any recordings with Mike Murphy. I was probably the biggest REO fan back in the day. Gary Richwrath was like Hendrix to me, you know. I just think the original recording of Son of a poor man on Riding the storm out was better with Murphy.
The way you mixed the images and sound for my favorite Speedwagon song is a real work of art. Every time I watch it, which is often, I see something I hadn't realized before. Thank you!
REO rocked in Champaign IL, their home base at the local bars in central IL! In 1971, the outfit from Champaign, IL - Doughty, Gratzer, Gregg Philbin (bass), Terry Luttrell (vocals) and Gary Richrath (guitar) - popped the cork on their eponymous debut album, which the current edition of the Rolling Stone Album Guide rates 3 1/2 stars. We are proud of you guys keep on rockin!

i understand your point.
But to say Cronin completely destroyed the recordings REO put out is bullshit.
He has one hell of a voice. Everytime i hear "Roll With The Changes" it gives me goosebumps.

@CCDAGO I keep looking for that original version of "Son of a Poor Man" on youtube but can't find it anywhere. Once you hear it, you never forget it.
