Anyway, perhaps the man that called could have been one of those elderly people from the country that hasn't really talked to a foreigner before and he panicked once he heard your foreign name and started talking weird and asking for someone who was Japanese because he has heard that foreigners can't understand Japanese very well? That's the only explanation I can think of. Don't know. That is a weird phone call.

Right now I live way out in the country in the middle of nowhere in Japan and when some of the older people talk to me they speak Japanese with a strange Americanish accent, as if maybe they think it will help me "understand" what they are saying better. Sometimes they will check many times during our conversations to make sure I "understand what they are saying", even though I am fluent enough I can pass as a native speaker on the phone.

If not then, 君の日本語うますぎ！ If I didn't bother looking at the video, I would totally think you're nothing but Japanese, especially the part where you announciate "caller ID" and "Alice in the Wonderland" in Japanese accent. trainingはトレーニングで通じるよ。強いて言うなら「調­教」って言葉があるけど、これは変なニュアンスも含むから「トレ­ーニング」の方がむしろふさわしいかも。

これらは外来語としてすでに日本では定着してるし、

日本語の言い方がわからない言葉があれば、その英語をカタカナっ­ぽくしゃべれば十分かな

Why do you care if the other person was 'pretending' to only speak Japanese, and why does it matter if they are American speaking Japanese or a real Japanese speaking Japanese? You are an American speaking Japanese, so I don't quite follow your line of thinking Carolyn. Sure, it is strange for them to ask only to speak Japanese with you, but they probably called to practice their Japanese, that's all.

@angel21d I'm not saying it's weird that they spoke Japanese to me. I answered the phone and they requested for someone who could speak JApanese pretending that they couldn't speak English. Then they were speaking like they were studying Japanese. THAT is why I thought it was weird. Because they pretended the couldn't speak English. I don't pretend I don't speak English. If you want to practice, that's fine, but don't pretend your Japanese if you're not.
