bill is utterly brilliant and all three men have extremely insightful commentary. i think this is great for anyone who has questions about jazz, or more generally, music...or more generally, art.
This one really got me. Especially the part where Bill talks about being rather simple and true than approximate really touched me as a beginner jazz musician. Keep it real people! Thanks so much for posting.
For the past couple of years, I have wanted to learn jazz, but whenever I asked someone about it, I never got it, they might as well have been speaking a different language for all I got. But after listening to Bill talk about it, it finally makes sense to me! Now I finally realize what it is that I'm supposed to be learning! Thank you for posting this!
Thanks for the post!! I so appreciate the content on this video because it goes beyond Jazz music as well. Anyone who takes part of any improvisational arts can totally relate to this content and might have even shared the same philosophies. THANKS AGAIN.

jazz is spontaneously created improvised music.. and Evans was a master at it.. but the core of this conversation concerns creativity and self creation, using music as a focus-. timeless.
Total dedication eventually leads to complete mastery. Bill Evans was one of the greatest jazz improvisers of all time. "Kind of blue" would never have become the masterpiece it is today without his presence on the keyboard. Thanks so much for posting this series; it was like attending a master class in music and life at the same time.
I so agree cyncotts, I watch and listen to this over and over. We never got to talk directly to the likes of Mozart, but I'll bet he would have been sitting there nodding his head and saying " .. yea exactly Bill"
Yes, one of the best on Youtube, ever. Deconstructing Bill Evans and revealing the secret that Mozart and Bach and the rest were great improvisers who gave it up because there was no means to record what they did. Simply amazing. We miss you Bill!!!
This is great to see the whole film The Universal Mind of Bill Evans on You Tube. This is a Classic and has already gone down in history as one. Thanks to the contributor. There is so much information Bill Evans is sharing that one will certainly gain so much from it at any level. Thanks again.

Actually, the philosophy is only level 10. I prefer, in this case, that it should be higher. But that's just me.

I fully agree on Bill's philosophy of self learning and exploration. One only fully appreciates what he plays if he finds them out for himself.
To an aspiring jazz musician like myself, his words crystallize my subconscious opinions on jazz. Thanks for posting this!
