@xamboozi they were 10 euro's a few years ago.. and this keyboard did not function correctly .. so .. I wouldn't do the test with a working model M, obviously.
I wonder if Unicomp would still be able to fix 'em up....
And yes, while it does suck that they're wrecking them a bit, it's in the name of science. Namely, we want to know whether an IBM Model M can be used to kill a man. Now, we know we can if the need arises (zombie apocalypse?!). I've heard they can deflect bullets too, due to the steel plate inside. But that test is for another day (and hopefully a completely DEAD Model M).
@ranzbak Ah, that's too bad. I'm in Michigan, where there are probably more guns than people (yet I do not own one; not for or against them though). If I ever manage to acquire a broken Model M, I will have to remember this experiment, and see if I can get someone to shoot at it. lol

I'd put my 1989 'Vanilla' branded Focus FK-2002A up against both of those if I could bare the thought of destroying such a masterpiece. I love oldschool industrial-build keyboards, and have seen and used the Model M, but they just cannot compare! Model M's are comparitively common. If anyone could supply me with another FK2002 I would honestly pay a lot of money!

and a pair of M2 space saving keyboards in an attic i cleaned out, i also found some old ps/1 and ps/2 computers too :) i use my m everyday,

Ow.. my english is worse than I though.
The Model M's rounded front made it hard to hit the melon right.
