at 1:12 kates chair arrives by itself but when it leaves it needs 4 zeriods to move it, i guess kate must weigh more than the empty chair can managed on it`s own.
and in 1983 getting 14 different regional companies to air a programme at the same time was very difficult and with two separate companies in London refusing to promote each others programmes meant that Terrahawks did not get MUCH IF ANY promotion in the London area (Terrahawks being a LWT co-production with Anderson/Burr) which meant with Thames having the weekday licence at the time that on Monday to early Friday no trailers for LWT shows for the coming weekend would be shown
i would suspect ITV originally intended to show Expect The Unexpected in a 1 hour slot but a suitable timeslot could not be found which meant that it would be a 2 parter
@Ducksel - after you digitize the VHS you can convert it to a better editing quality or if you have the use of a digital editing production studio...believe...you can do anything
I was only about three when this was on Tv but always wanted to see it again, I remember zeldas cohort with the awful gargling voice! Funny how given how much stuff has been reshown over the years I've never noticed this series being shown again since the 80s, certainly on non-satellite tv
Why can't they make series like this any more its brilliant children don't all was went to lorn to count and read they need excitement people who say TV was refurbish when they where kids are lting the TV in the 60s 70s and 80s is brilliant.
iam sure kate kestrel scene when she rolls off in the chair, is used in a later episode , i have the dvd boxed set and i think this was used but maybe kate is dressed differently
I noticed reading the scripts (a nice addition to the DVD extra features - every script has been included, including a couple of unfilmed ones, such as "NUMBER ONE SEED") these additional scenes, but assumed they had been deleted from the scripts and therefore not actually been filmed, so thanks for this little nugget. Just a shame they couldn't have included this also on the DVD box set as a bonus, but never mind...
Not really my favorite of the Gerry Anderson model series but I like it! Just not used to the puppets not being used via strings, and the fact that Barry Gray isn't the composer but still it is pretty damned good!
I'm a bit surprised these extra scenes would be cut from the DVD release, usually DVD's have alot of special features!
i remember watching these in 80's and Zelda would scare the crap out of me and i would cry every time i see her but even than i watched it regularly !! :D
@omerthe3rd Zelda always scared me as well. I clearly remember hiding my face with a cushion when she came on. Some of her monsters really scared the crap out of me!
Damn. THIS is why I love the Internet! Where else could I have found this out or seen the scenes? Who aside from us geeks would have taken the effort? Thanks much!!
yea some decent scenes there, zeriods acting as wheels on the chair was neat :-) and scenes relating to the zeroids disobeying orders were part of the story. Youd think that they would include every scene in teh DVD version.
I don't think they cut these scenes from the DVD release. I read somewhere that the VHS releases featured footage that was also cut from the original broadcast due to time.
What I've deduced is that these scenes were included in the hour long pilot episode but when this is cut into two half-hour episodes it needs to make room for the extra credits/recap/intro/cliffhanger which meant these scenes were cut for time.
The reason all the scenes are missing from the DVD is that it is sourced from the LWT master of the transmission version which is a two parter topped and tailed accordingly, and for time as you say (23 minutes per episode). The Channel 5 tape however is a 90 minute film edited specially by Anderson Burr for home video release where they were able to include all the filmed material and this is the only version in which these scenes appeared. So there is nothing deliberately 'cut' from the DVDs.

Wonder what became of the puppets when it all finished? Are they collecting dust somewhere....or were they auctioned off to private collectors.

I can never understand why Gerry seems to hate this series. Its of its time ,Maggie Thatchers 80s.
The era that taste forgot. The series still looks good over Twenty Five years on.
