  • @MrMortjon

your keyboard has backlit leds, this keyboard has litttle led displays on each key.

  • It is a neat product; like most, I can appreciate it on an artistic level. However, it solves a problem that doesn't really exist. *Good typists don't tend to look at the keys* and standard keyboards are functionally more than adequate. So long as this remains expensive, I see this more as a statement of wealth and ego. Please don't be quick to lambaste this view!

  • $1700? In this economy? THEY'RE INSANE!

  • You can find them cheaper if you shop around. And this keyboard was released before the economy went bad... but yeah, i doubt they're going to be selling to many of these at this point in time.

  • its the end of the world as we know it!

  • @AntDX316 but I feel fine

  • I agree but the most wierd thing is that actualy some people buy this product well its not even worth the $

  • @uuuultra 1.) it's not american made. 2.) the rig i'm building right now is running me about $6,000. 3.) some people have money falling out of thier ears (which let's the brains seep out) cause i agree, stupid product for over induldging market. buy some stickers for your keyboard if it's that needy!

  • what if one or more display go dead, like a power spike from storm hits

  • First of all, it's connected directly into your computer, so the computer would die first. Second of all, you should always use a power strip with a circuit breaker. Third of all, you can easily remove and replace each of the keys individually.

  • @WhefXLR

LED dont use alot of power unless it has its own power supply then it would kill you pc

  • Im buying one of these.

  • 2000$

  • 1700$ actually and the dollar sing goes in front EX: $1700

  • Its $1700 when you have bought all of the keys. Its around 500 for the keyboard plus 10 keys. Each next key is like $50 or so.

  • very good microsoft keyboard with wire costs maybe 20-30 euros. without wire it costs maybe 10 "bucks" more and if you are arab or chinese then just buy some fucking different version.. why would somebody buy this xD

  • lol the guy who made this said in some vid that one button cost 10 dollars for them and that keyboard cost 1500-3000 dollars xD that's so fucking stupid if one button is 10 dollars then there is 40 buttons maybe then it should cost 400 dollars then so where those fucking thousands of dollars come for the price..? who would be so dumd that he would buy those with 2000 dollars xD

  • I wounder who is the idiot who would buy this nice yet useless product

  • I heard Apple recently filed a patent for a similar keyboard rumored to launch with their new operating system in 2010 Can't wait!

  • aah,, maybe touch screen?

    with downloadable language packs...& themes...

  • not its the key board with oleds under it:P

  • wtf wrong wit u man haha ur all like EVERYTHINGS GOING TO DIE OFFF HUMANS ARE GOING TO BE GONEEE damn dude live in the present and enjoy it :P

  • The Keyboard and mouse will die off. It will be replaced by a touch-voice interface.

  • And cars will die off when we all develop wings.

  • putittogether do you realize then when you play CS:S you say 'burst fire' then you touch somewhere to walk 'kill that dude' he dies lol

  • was just thinking along the same lines. putittogether is a fuckin idiot

  • I know i spend way to much time looking at comments because that quick witted comment matched the flow. Sorry...you deserve a thumbs up. (narpok)

  • touch-voice... hmmm. Maybe not only that, visual help is always necesary...

Could also be a 3d-touch interface.

To the rest of you... Hmmm, idiots!

Even the Opera Browser have develop a Voice Quick Start-up (a way to talk with your browser).

    you idiots!

  • haha, well said

  • The point is why do we need a key board and mouse to interface with the computer. What is wrong with your voice? Vista is making a very sad attempt at voice interaction. Touch screen is a joke at this point. We need a FULLY operational voice OS.

  • the problem is people have different accents and pitch in their voice...MS will need to have a HUGE sample for the software to understand the diferent accents being thrown at it, this will take time and alot of money..marketing people just doesnt see this move into voice a big financial gain at the moment so their not doing much about it..and yes vista's voice recognition is retarded

  • "left, left, left a bit more, double click, right a bit, a bit more, just a wee wee bit more, right click, down a bit, down, keep it coming, left click"

Yeah, voice activated windows sounds like a right laugh.

  • thechevron -- "Computer find best price for ASUS x38 motherboard" "go to amazon's price" "detailed specs." "purchase the "asus ps5" "security billing code is XXXXX" "bill me". Software CAN be written to preform these task and just as written. Word recognition and logical referencing has been around for a few years now.

  • and what about playing games? you will still be doing, left, left , cast shadow bolt, runaway from imba rogue etc. Artist will still need mouse/tablet type inputs. The only thing it will be good for is typing essays. (and students can't afford anything like that because they are work shy).

The mouse and keyboard aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Plus I'm scottish, most people can't understand what I'm saying, a computer has no chance.

  • No a joy stick will do fine. Or if you wanted DARPA has nero-active control systems that will soon be availible to the public.

  • you want to replace a mouse with a joystick?

  • Count me out for replacing the mouse with a joystick. Ever tried typing on a Sony PSP? A Nintendo DS is better for typing. Going off on a tangent, a PSP has the advantage of a continuous sound buffer (the NDS can only play one sample per go, no buffering) , so it's the only useable handheld for ham radio software...but who wants to type RTTY/PSK31 with 8 buttons?

Give me my mouse and touch screen and keyboard.

  • why don't you do it?

  • thechevron -- Because I am not a fucking engineer.

  • you need to be an engineer to create new ideas? And more to the point, why is it the responsibility of MS (a software company) to create a new method. shouldn't you be looking at companies like logitech or creative since that is their core business?

    Idiot.

  • those ideas will never get off the ground if you dont know jack about electronics/software...who do you think makes new computers with smaller processors? electrical engineers, plus its MS that needs to create new shit so that companies like logitech can create hardware that will be COMPATIBLE with the iterface. idiot

  • too much star trek last night? ^^

  • That didn't make sense. and stop giving your own comments the thumbs up

  • looks awesome

  • think about what you just said. your opinion shows that "they" got you for purchasing a computer, internet service, and anything electronic.

i suggest you hunt animals with your bare hands. leave your clothes while youre at it you wasted your money on that too.

  • i WANT THAT FUCKIN KEYBOARD DUDE!!!

  • 4 hundred dolars for this?? WTF

    they're crazy

  • I wish it were that cheap!!

The full price for this model will be $1500+

$400 is the price for the add on module that can be used with regular keyboards.

  • well...lets see 1500 could get me a NEW computer...but i do like the shiny colors on the keyboard!! yeah, keyboard it is!

  • i can see him right now.... typing on his keyboard that isnt hooked into anything at all... that kinda defeats the purpose of the screens?

  • cool!!

  • A fundamental consideration in applying technology: what problems are solved?

IMHO, apart from its obvious ability to display different alphabets and possibly its use by the partially sighted, this keyboard creates far more problems of its own making than those it can provide solutions to.

  • i think you're missing the point that it looks cool

  • Lol, yes it sure does! However,'... OLEDs have a limited lifetime, characterized by a decrease in EL efficiency and an increase in drive voltage...' from googling the term 'degradation OLED' (check first couple of links.

Also, I think you'll agree that the price tag ain't looking to cool:)

  • Efficiency is much better then cool. An Intel Quad Extreme CPU is cool and efficient, this thing is just pretty and inefficient because the key size would piss most PC users off.

  • It'd be great if you can save layouts and have a default one.

Like have it set to a default QWERTY with some additional hot key buttons. But then just as easily with another button switch it to a WOW layout which has images for the hot key it represents.

This is a pretty neat idea and I like how you can buy by the button haaha. But Ill wait until a wireless version comes out.

  • I bet someone has that keyboard with the KLINGON alphabet and has vaulted himself into the "UBERGEEK" status in geekdom!

Which one of these buttons do I push to get me a girlfriend? LOL

Seriously, though, this is the future, captain Picard.

  • haha

  • wow awesome but expensive and kinda useless. just get a gaming one or something. I mostly dont look at the keyboard anyway. mostly screen :D

  • I hear it as 460$ on other videos

  • thats the shitty one that only has a few lcd keys, the res are normal keys but you can upgrade them as you go. its like tick (credit)

  • innovative thinking but very very unpractical besides the price who wants to own $1500 piece of equipment that can be easily ruined by a cup of coffee

  • That's the point of half the things at CES. It's just a display of technology, not necessarily technology relevant to the general public.

And a huge percentage of equipment that costs >$1500 can be easily ruined by a cup of coffee...

  • it is very very cool, especially if u write in different languages and basically for every reason, however the price is wayyyyyy too high, if it was 150$ i would consider! not 1500 come on. anyways, only a pro would need it, and a pro would learn how to blind type anyways so wehat is the point ofgetting a keybaord which is SEXY?loooool none

  • costs about 1.500 Euros, who wants to spend that?

  • buy this keyboard just coz is pretty would be a stupid thing, wouldnt it?

the only good thing that i see that is useful is the photoshop mapping with the icons of each function. anyways, you can learn the shorcuts and save up 1.500 euros :P

  • cool but useless

  • @thesteamroller Not useless.

I mean, multi lingual characters, keys that can display full icons, that can display both Apple and PC keyboard characters, editable keys for easy recognition of hot keys, etc etc.

Yes, it's too expensive for a keyboard, no it's not too expensive for 113 mini oled displays, and you know that it would be great to upgrade a simple keyboard into this !

  • @thesteamroller

I wouldn't say useless, when you can program every button and change each button to have it's own wording and picture :D

Just not worth the price, considering my computer doesn't even cost that much.

  • cool but useless..i usually dont look at the keyboard while i'm writing

  • Yes, but how many keyboards have you seen where every single key is remappable. The displays are just eye candy.

  • cool but useless for me

  • I would hate to spill my coffee on that. I'll stick with the 10 dollar keyboards. :)

  • amazing

  • is that the camera making them flicker?

  • yes

  • the camera isnt 'making them flicker' -- the noticeable flickering that you see in the video is how the camera's image sensor sees it.

Human eyes will not see that 'flicker'.

  • yeah, it's about the refresh rate. if the refresh rate is lower than the frames per second taken in by the camera, it'll do that.

  • thats cool :O

  • I've seen previews of that thing for ages...

    FINALLY! ITS HERE!

  • oh wow that's cool
