LMAO, funny...I've been flying Airbus for 3 years now, and those control movements appear to be overly exaggerated, I won't be surprised if the Video is fake. anyways, enjoyed watching the video!
@interaeronav: I've maintained A320s for over ten years now and taxi them and maintain the control system and what you said is what I thought also. For one thing, I don't think the A320 computers can react that fast. Oh, they react fast enough, but I don't think they react quite that fast. But in the real world, the pilot might not know that. He might be micro-controlling, blissfully ignorant that the controls aren't moving exactly the way he's moving the stick. That's fly-by-wire for ya.
didn't mention in my first post... so what its a crosswind landing? once you are established in your slip or crab or whatever you want to call it, you would hardly be moving the controls at all anyway unless your getting horrendous variable winds to the point that you probably wouldn't be landing anyway
@Pvjinflight the only time that would be the case is in a very light aircraft and even that it is a tiny fraction of what this video shows. i have flown instrument approaches in a bell 206 jet ranger with 25kt tailwind and my movements on the cyclic were never more than a centimeter at absolutely most. that is not a huge wind but for a helicopter that maxes out at 3350lbs it is significant.
@mjm9536 watch?v=PrIJI0HYDzU Go to that vid and to part 6:46. Ive seen completely stable approaches with no or very little control movement only in flight sims, in pretty much all real world ones theres some control movement as no wind conditions are very rare anyway.
@Pvjinflight I'm supposed to go for my Captaincy training next week in Spain on the A320. You must realize that the A320 is a flyby wire aircraft and thus you may not compare it directly with a Yoke style control. the control computer accepts demands and takes care of deviations automatically, even in strong winds minor corrections are required on the controls with a light touch. Then again, let me not be a judge...there's a first time for everything.
This is ridiculous. satanickaran is 100% right. left seat was clearly on the controls. you move the controls like any in ANY aircraft and you will be all over the damn place. speaking from helicopter experience, a smooth flight = mere milimeters of movement on the cyclic. most of the time its not even MOVING at all it is all PRESSURE movements.
@Bartney1994 Captains and co-pilots in most airlines alternate landings/takeoffs absent some extreme condition. That is how co-pilots build their book!
how do you put airbus in reverse, like in a Boeing for example 737 they have reverse levers on the throttles in airbus a320 a330 a340 etc do they just continue to slide the throttles back pass idle
wow.. from a full flight simulator training I know how sensitive the A320's sidestick is ... so seeing the large movements of the sidestick I guess that due to the crosswind there must have been some very rapid changes of the plane's flight attitude that had to be corrected by the pilot
Fly by wire and its ATARI sidesticks are irksome and takes pilots out of the scene.. ..it gets like when you fuck a pretty lady using condom, you will never feel her real taste....
Go fly an old 737-200 just to feel a true and free "man - machine" landing experience... maybe it´s time for adults play...
@VIctuszaphae Lol ! Just type " accidents by aircraft airfleets " on google and go to the first link. More than 100 accidents for the 737...Airbus A300+310+320 is less...Now, I'm waiting the Delayliner vs A350.
@Loglouis You have to take in account that the 737 has the most planes flying around the world. What happens when the pilot has to contend with the computer to make an emergency decision (Air France flight 447 RIP). You can never "fix" poor decision making, but I'd rather fly with good pilot who actually has complete control of his/her aircraft.
@DreaminofFL360 You can have as much control as you want on the airbus. Pilots nover have to contend with computer systems if they understand the systems properly (same as on any modern jet really). The 73 has the most flying around the world only because it has been around for considerably longer - the bus outsells the boeing now.
Looks like a good landing, I am actually applaud with the remarks made about the video. I have to ask though, why was the first officer landing the plane?
WOW THANKS FOR THIS INTERESTING VIEW !!! (= wow it's beautiful for me to see this :'/ I do want to be a Pilot *_* the chance is very slight )': But I do really want it... these moves which the Pilot is doing is that usually? @ISum41roxxBfmVI Depending on how old you are, I have to recommend to you that if you want to be a pilot do not say that the chances are very slight. If its what you want to be go after it as much as you can and dont give up. This is not REAL flying....its a video game!! (yes im being sarcastic) but seriously Airbus's have no passion or feel when you fly them, just some plain old video game, where Boeing's give you the sensation and thrill of flying a REAL plane built with passion and the feeling that you just cant describe

I don’t trust these new computers. Look what happened with the Air France air show in the 80s. Maybe it’s best for the computer to take over when humans make a critical error.
the most said sentence in a airbus a320/a380: mmmhh...... what is it doing now?
stupid airbus, airbus with its a 320/380 is the first step of removing the pilot out of the cockpit with all its computers, i remember days when you still had to navigate without an computers
@GOKTUGEROL Priority and Autopilot Disconnect. When AP enegnaged and you press it, it disconnects the AP, if no AP engaged, and you press it you take over the control from the other Sidestick
bottom line... original control panel will always save more lives than some fly by wire and blind fold system... YOU know when you feel right and feel wrong ( which is never ) us pilots think more about getting you safe to your destination then our own flight home. !!!! 78% of them time LOL
Always loved the traditional control panel , but , I find you get better accuracy especially when flaring the aircraft just before touchdown with the ( video game joystick / sidestick.) Airbus has mastered adding this feature. I must stay bias for now but being a Boeing man in blood... they will always outrun you.. BUT with Airbus industrie. You just made us work 30 % less in flight scenarios by making the aircraft almost made not for us civil and commercial flymen and Women but almost easy4urkd
Fighters utilize a control stick setup that responds to pressure (very little actual movement, only pressure application in the direction of the desired control input). The Airbus system doesn't allow the pilot direct control of the flight control surfaces (full deflection on the stick does not equal full deflection of the surface), Boeing is the opposite, and, invariably, the more 'appropriate' approach.
@archer49d damn, you're a dumbass. what you just described is how every fly by wire system works. in fact that's the whole point that it limits the control response to what the aircraft is capable of. and no FBW system uses pressure sensitive sticks. they tried it on the f-16 (the first FBW fighter plane), but the pilots revolted against it. in fact, go read the f-16 article on wikipedia and stop spouting your verbal diarrhea all over youtube. kthxbye
@aseglkj Maybe English isn't your first language...
An FBW system (as utilized by Boeing and Lockheed) is similar to Airbus' take only in name. The F-16 stick is in fact a pressure stick as I said, the "non-movement" type wasn't revolted against, it was uncomfortable and caused a tendency to over control by the pilots. The stick is still pressure sensitive in all fighter HOTAS applications, but it is given very limited play for comfort and provide better "feel" to the pilot.
I´m happy that the pilot did some sudden moves with that stick, when we were landing at O´Hare and the plane was still rocking sideways in 20-10 metres... It felt like a time for a prayer.
By the way, do you know, how fast a plane must descend, when drinks come up from the cup and form a ball in the air?
@childsca You're right, "retard" means pull the thrust leevers back to the idle detent. Airbus calls them "thrust leevers" because they are fly by wire with no physical connection to the engines.
@fmabvideos The trigger is a microphone button. You're right about the AP disconnect button. There is also a side stick priority button that switches which side has priority L or R.
@festusthefiend although it may be a little easier on your cute little flight sim game at home, I'm sure that pilot who flies the A320 for a living knows more than you! The control imputs look extreme, but under those conditions I guarantee the response is almost unnoticeable! Have you ever actually flown an airplane? Did you really think you could post a comment that ignorant without ppl calling you out on it? Get a life!
I hope this isn't taken off some instruction video! It's quite a good example of how not to do it. This must be one of the worst examples of abusing the FBW i've ever seen. At one point the stick is smashed against the right stop and less than half a second later against the left stop and then back again. The 320 is NOT a Nintendo! B****y awful.
I don t think so, when your flying through gusty heavy winds sometimes you need to handle the sidestick or yoke like tht, because otherwise you might not get the plane to align in the middle of the runway.
@doubleBdasher You are right, and I apologise to all for the bad form of my comment. Just goes to show one should not comment in public after something unrelated has just seriously gotten up one's nose.
@CamaRO9923 America nows a lot about swindling in high risk mortgage sphere.
but not how to build complex technical system´s and if so then GM and the Automobil industry and heavy industry would be first class...American consumer are running for products from Germany or Europe because of the quality and reliability
wow thanks for sharing this, i thought the sidestick on airbus planes is harder to use than a joystick, but in this video seems like it's more comfortable and softer~
if u push the stick with enough force the autopilot will disconnect and u will hear that sound , and btw the disconnect pushbutton is not the black one on the front , it is a red smaller one to the left , which u cannot see in this video
this aircraft has autobreaks , they will be engaged when the spoilers deploy , the spoilers deploy when the strut is compressed ( when u touch the ground ) and the power is idled , pressing the breaks which are the top of the pedals will Disarm the autobreaks and then u will have to break manualy
mceyran what u said is right , but at 100 feet u enter a flare mood , where ur inputs will be given without any reduction like a very conventional aircraft , i would say the full back stick was after the mainwheel toched to hold the nosewheel up
Airbusses have fly-by-wire systems, so the sticks do not engage the system directly. A computer takes the stick input and makes sanity checks, so full stick just means something like "give as much force as possible to one side without destabilizing the plane". I think the reason for full stick in this case is the strong wind and resulting turbulences.
@mceyran Yeah write ... but the pilot should remember to not do that in alternate law 1 or 2 ... because the computer didn't control the bank in that law
I like that ! Very fascinating !

@GOKTUGEROL Priority and Autopilot Disconnect. When AP enegnaged and you press it, it disconnects the AP, if no AP engaged, and you press it you take over the control from the other Sidestick

Sorry I ran out in my last remarks !
bottom line... original control panel will always save more lives than some fly by wire and blind fold system... YOU know when you feel right and feel wrong ( which is never ) us pilots think more about getting you safe to your destination then our own flight home. !!!! 78% of them time LOL
mkenny44 1 year ago
Always loved the traditional control panel , but , I find you get better accuracy especially when flaring the aircraft just before touchdown with the ( video game joystick / sidestick.) Airbus has mastered adding this feature. I must stay bias for now but being a Boeing man in blood... they will always outrun you.. BUT with Airbus industrie. You just made us work 30 % less in flight scenarios by making the aircraft almost made not for us civil and commercial flymen and Women but almost easy4urkd

What a stupid way to control a plane.
archer49d 1 year ago
@archer49d so all fighter jets are stupid? maybe you're stupid?
aseglkj 1 year ago
@aseglkj Nope, and now you're stupid as well...
Fighters utilize a control stick setup that responds to pressure (very little actual movement, only pressure application in the direction of the desired control input). The Airbus system doesn't allow the pilot direct control of the flight control surfaces (full deflection on the stick does not equal full deflection of the surface), Boeing is the opposite, and, invariably, the more 'appropriate' approach.
archer49d 1 year ago
@archer49d damn, you're a dumbass. what you just described is how every fly by wire system works. in fact that's the whole point that it limits the control response to what the aircraft is capable of. and no FBW system uses pressure sensitive sticks. they tried it on the f-16 (the first FBW fighter plane), but the pilots revolted against it. in fact, go read the f-16 article on wikipedia and stop spouting your verbal diarrhea all over youtube. kthxbye
aseglkj 1 year ago
@aseglkj Maybe English isn't your first language...
An FBW system (as utilized by Boeing and Lockheed) is similar to Airbus' take only in name. The F-16 stick is in fact a pressure stick as I said, the "non-movement" type wasn't revolted against, it was uncomfortable and caused a tendency to over control by the pilots. The stick is still pressure sensitive in all fighter HOTAS applications, but it is given very limited play for comfort and provide better "feel" to the pilot.

retard means.... deploy the reverse...... or the reverse has being deployed...that's what i think...
zappaflorida 1 year ago
@zappaflorida
It means to retard the throttles to idle. :)
BoeingBonkers 1 year ago
I´m happy that the pilot did some sudden moves with that stick, when we were landing at O´Hare and the plane was still rocking sideways in 20-10 metres... It felt like a time for a prayer.
By the way, do you know, how fast a plane must descend, when drinks come up from the cup and form a ball in the air?
Annafin62 1 year ago
@Annafin62 head straight down i guess, like zero gravity....theres a plane that does just that...more like a company its called zero gravity.

@SinclairisCool
Retard (pull back) the throttles I think.
childsca 1 year ago
@childsca You're right, "retard" means pull the thrust leevers back to the idle detent. Airbus calls them "thrust leevers" because they are fly by wire with no physical connection to the engines.
JetMechMA 1 year ago
whats the trigger on the back for , is it autopilot disengage because i thought this plane had a red button like other planes
fmabvideos 1 year ago
@fmabvideos The trigger is a microphone button. You're right about the AP disconnect button. There is also a side stick priority button that switches which side has priority L or R.

I think you did a great job. All these noobs out here never flew a plane before, you know the best how to fly this beast. Good job!

@festusthefiend i think the pilot knows a bit more than you on how to land the aircraft.

I don t think so, when your flying through gusty heavy winds sometimes you need to handle the sidestick or yoke like tht, because otherwise you might not get the plane to align in the middle of the runway.

if u push the stick with enough force the autopilot will disconnect and u will hear that sound , and btw the disconnect pushbutton is not the black one on the front , it is a red smaller one to the left , which u cannot see in this video
kharyee1 1 year ago
this aircraft has autobreaks , they will be engaged when the spoilers deploy , the spoilers deploy when the strut is compressed ( when u touch the ground ) and the power is idled , pressing the breaks which are the top of the pedals will Disarm the autobreaks and then u will have to break manualy
kharyee1 1 year ago
mceyran what u said is right , but at 100 feet u enter a flare mood , where ur inputs will be given without any reduction like a very conventional aircraft , i would say the full back stick was after the mainwheel toched to hold the nosewheel up
kharyee1 1 year ago
very cool video
jonjonjonjo123456789 1 year ago
Airbusses have fly-by-wire systems, so the sticks do not engage the system directly. A computer takes the stick input and makes sanity checks, so full stick just means something like "give as much force as possible to one side without destabilizing the plane". I think the reason for full stick in this case is the strong wind and resulting turbulences.
mceyran 2 years ago 25
@mceyran Yeah write ... but the pilot should remember to not do that in alternate law 1 or 2 ... because the computer didn't control the bank in that law
oldmac6 1 year ago
@oldmac6 in order for that law to come in the computer would have been confused i.e. like frozen pitot tubes...
