I cant imagine, what it must be like to wage every word - does it abide to the goals of his country, is there little misunderstanding possible, are all partners respected and stil not just saying some empty compromises but underlining a policy. While I do disagree with some, this speech / lecture was absolutely amazing.
This is why Obama is a great leader, not because he might have all the right policies, but because his ideals are such that he does not get caught in the net of absurdities that surround the world and do something truly spectacular.

Obama has succeeded in making countries talk to each other again. It may not be a well reported in the news but his efforts had a tremendous effect. I hope that history will reveal the success of his actions and show that he rightfully deserves this price.

Since he became Prez, my stock portfolio has doubled in value, I got a nice tax cut, I got re-hired at my plant building windmills and I got some help with my mortgage. My son has easier access to the VA and with the new GI bill, his college education is guaranteed.

'Terrorists' weren't recruiting because of naughty words that past presidents said- they fight because of what has been done to them, like bombing their countries.Obama has kept that hobby up.

Right... So having banned torture, trying to close Gitmo, and giving a fair civilian trial in NYC to the 911 planners, doesn't mean anything? Ending the Iraq war doesn't mean anything? None of this makes the US's image better therefore making recruiting harder for terrorists?
Is "America's nice image" Obama's only priority? NO. He also has other considerations such as NATIONAL SECURITY, and therefore will not unilaterally pull troops from everywhere instantaneously, but he's doing a good job.

Regarding debt, he has NOT launched it into the stratosphere. He inherited a huge deficit, and an economy on the brink. Of COURSE the process of preventing economic catastrophe was expensive, but inaction would have been worse.
Yes, our short term debt has gone up, but we are better placed for reducing it in the long term, thanks to huge investments in green energy, infrastructure and education, which incidentally also had the purpose of stimulating the economy in the short term.

You're getting confused between Iraq and Afghanistan.
He said he would start withdrawing from Iraq quickly, which he did.
He said he would have COMPLETED withdrawal by 2011, and he's fulfilling that promise.
He said he would put MORE troops in afghanistan, which he did.
He said troops would start getting out of Afghanistan by 2012, and he hasn't broken that promise.
Give me a SPECIFIC foreign policy promise he did not keep.

Obama clearly said he would withdraw from Iraq and bolster our troops in Afghanistan. He said that all throughout the campaign.
He was never unclear about that.
He stopped the unnecessary war against a country that didn't do anything to us, and is now finishing the war against those who attacked us on 911, just like he promised.
Do I agree with his Afghanistan decision? NO
Is it what he clearly promised he would do? YES
