You make a good point about the new systems. But the Dreamcast is not just considered the best console just because of the games it had. The Dreamcast has fond memories in peoples hearts because the Dreamcast came out in 1999. 1999 & 2000 were so much more fun than 2009, 2010 & 2011. I got my Dreamcast in 1999. The most fun times in my life was the 90's to 2002. And the Dreamcast came out during those fun times in my life. So when i think of the Dreamcast, i think of those times.
My very first system was the PS1. My second? The Sega Dreamcast. I only enjoyed it for about 2 years, but it was mad fun. From the fighting games, to the wrestling games, to the racing games, and whatever else. The Dreamcast was awesome.

Oh and have launch titles like Soul Calibur V/Phantasy Star 5 (and PSO2)/Jet Grind Radio 2/Bayonetta 2/ Blue Stinger 2/House of the Dead 6/. . . Ect It "Could" be a huge success, if they would put some effort forward :/

Too much undue credit given to the online capabilities, the selection of games that could actually be played online was weak, and hell, funny how these guys were quick to brush the Saturn out of the picture, hmm, I wonder why.
My favorite system is Sega 16bit because of the games like phanton 2040, batman games, sonic, shadow dancer, shinobi, bare knuckle, double dragon and a lot more that I alreadey forgot. LOL! it was a long time ago but my Sega still works until now unlike the new console that cannot last beyond 5 years, they have great graphic and everything but not durable or as heavy duty as the previous consoles. those are the days, where your investments are for life...
Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2, Sonic Adventure 1/2, Ecco the Dolphin.. Yeah I don't regret buying a Dreamcast. In fact, besides the SNES, it's probably still my favorite system.

I went straight from N64 & PS to PS2. Dreamcast was lost on me but Sega Genesis was my first console :)

The name fits it, "Dream"--it was a dream come true if anything. Great games, great hardware, online (FOR FREE!!!), and it is the best system of all time! I don't care how loud it is because have you heard xbox and ps3? They can get so fucking loud. Dreamcast owns and Sega should make a system. Call it the Dream....machine!
That was kind of corny but think about it, the dream machine. I'd probably waste my college fund on it. GO SEGA!

my friend had a dreamcast, it was tight, but I ultimately went after the gamecube. it would be interesting to see what sega would come up with if they went back to the console picture.

I never owned the Sega Dreamcast, I was only 9 back in 1999, I did not know much about video games expect the gameboys. I guess i missed out. I think Pokemon was more popular during that time.
