Actually it wasn't "Mostly rich folks" who died the vast majority of the people who died were poor third class passengers who where locked below until the wealthy passengers were safely on the boats second class suffered as well but the majority of first class made it i believe only 100 or so of the 1503 people who died were 1st class.
