  • 23/2/1850 Nace el hotelero César Ritz

  • You know, while everyone in class is singing Kesha and Eminiem or whatever, I'll stand up on a desk and sing this.

  • Irvin Berlin (melody & text) created this song around 1929-1930, when it was also first published and recorded by Harry Richman for the movie Putting on the Ritz.

Clark Gable covered it in 1939 for the movie Idiot´s delight. Fred Astaire, of course, in the movie Blue Skies (1945); Taco in 1983. Yes, Ella did it 1958......

  • Those texts in your description - they are in three different languages and tell about different things. Why?

  • Ella was 12 years old in 1929! This was performed much later!!

  • This version is more around the forties with the name of Gary Cooper in it !

  • @17bouh I believe the lyrics were rewritten for the Fred Astaire film in 1945, this version is not the original lyrics but the rewritten 1945 lyrics

  • the best was by Gene Wilder and the Monster!

  • This song always manages to make me feel better!

Every Day from Buddy Holly is a close second :)

  • @dantonium okay?

  • i believe that this is the best version of the song

  • whoa! there's actualy time to pronounce the lyrics properly :) as good as the other versions

  • @odysseetheater I just did a little research and found that Ella is accompanied by the Paul Weston Orchestra. John Best, Pete Candoli, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Don Fagerquist, Manny Klein (trumpet); Ed Kusby, Dick Noel, William Schaefer (trombone); Juan Tizol (valve trombone); Chuck Gentry, Matty Matlock, Ted Nash, Babe Russin, Fred Stulce (woodwinds); Paul Smith (piano); Barney Kessel (guitar); Joe Mondragon (bass); Alvin Stoller (drums); Weston (arranger, conductor). Recorded March 17, 1958.

  • id like to see lady gaga do a version of this :)

  • @glenw89 .. no thank you -(

  • @glenw89 it would suck more then the version by "the you know who"

  • What a version of that. Amazing Ella and orchestra!
