Most Filipino doesn't know what Marines stands for..............Marines are trained for Amphibious Assault's,ang dapat na lumaban sa Land eh yung Army kasi sila ang assigned doon at sa Air is naturally mga Airforce........and Marines were not stablished during 1950 because since 18th century eh may Marines na,they use Muskets at its from the Americans,we adopted this Group during World War 2

Marines aquire skills wich would be useful in combat, which would most likely occur on land, so you can't limit the marines's capability on the shores.

During WWI, U.S. marines were not only able to repell attacking German forces, but they were also able to push them back. That's why I don't think that marines should be limited to fighting on shores, they have the capability to fight further inland.

@iNDiOAMiGO Incorrect - you can no longer say the few and the proud. Proud yes, FEW? No way. In the Philippine Navy there are sailor, marines, and seabees. Sailors categorized into several specialties, gunners mate, machinist mate, yeoman, bosuns mate etc. There are only 20,000 personnel in PN. 10,000 marines which is a specialty also in the navy. So divide the half to the other rates and you get half of PN just marines. Marines outnumbers any other rates in PN. So not FEW!

@macotheone23 first, marines not soldiers, second do you know what MBLT stands for? Its, Marine Battalion Landing Team. Battalion is around 500 -600 Marines. Where did you get the idea that there are only 50 of them in MBLT?

10 to 1 fight? Yes anyone can do 10 to 1 fight but almost all the time the 1 loses. This includes the Marines. 2008 massacre of Marines its about 4 is to 1 ratio. 4 Abu Sayyaf for every 1 marines.  Sadly the marines perished.

Sna naman mejo gaangan nila ang req. nila for recruiting, tulad nalang ng Marriage contract ng parents, what if kung hindi kasal ang magulang ng gus2ng mag apply sa PMC edi hndi na pede agad, saka sana dagdagan nila ang age limit, sana gawin na nilang 18-24 years old. marami kasi ako kilala na gustong mag marines kaso dahil sa requirement nahihirapan na agad. kung may PMC Officer d2 sana mabasa nila to.
