It's not reasonable to expect them to be able

to play Glenn Miller like a Swing band. What's

important is that they're bringing some of the

greatest compositions in history to many young

folks who haven't heard Miller, plus they're

getting people to dance in the aisles. And

that's a good thing. Glenn Miller forever.

What can I say, he is unmatched in the world today. I'm sure given the times, Glenn Miller would be the first stand in ovation for this and Jimmy Stewart would be honored to stand in front of such an orchestra. If you don't think so - then you didn't know Miller nor Stewart very well.

I wasn't aware the Classical and Jazz music needed saving. I am of the younger generation, being 20, and I would still prefer to hear the Berlin Philharmonic or the Glen Miller Orchestra. Two music groups with a slightly better reputation. As for appealing to a mass audience I suppose it depends on whether you want to be Paris Hilton or Grace Kelly. You just can't buy taste.

@rhythmictiger You may think Andre is killing classical music and Glen Miller but from the size of the audiences he plays before I would say he is saving classical music as well as Glen Miller. Face it, younger generations generally do now like simphony orchestra music. Andre Rieu and the JSO bring it alive with humor and color. Bottom line is if you don't appeal to a mass audience you might as well dig your grave. Personally, I could listen to Andres music all day long.

from the Miller book that did not require the clarinet lead sound of things like "Moonlight Serenade"

the 2 numbers in a medley here, had a lot of unison passages. Even so, the results were

creditable for this orchestra.

As a musician, I don't play tunes I'm not able to. If I tried to play the Blue Danube Waltz, it would sound dirty, or at least, a rendition close to Spike Jones's.

The fella plays the stupid medley to make dough, it's poorly played, Those long hairs played Mickey Mouse and make sound good tunes like smaltz from their squeak boxes.

I missed my chance to see Andre when he came to Minnesota. Scalpers were getting huge sums for tickets. I like the tribute to Glenn Miller but I hope to hear Rieu play some Gershwin melodies someday.
