  • The unkind comments from some of the viewers are revealing. They must really be in favor a statist form of government, because from my remembrance of Mrs Thatcher, she fought her whole career to limit the power of onerous federal regulation, nationalized industry and trade union monopolies. She also brought about the collapse of international communism through her close alliance with the US, and the world and her country enjoy more freedom because of it.

  • It's good to see Thatcher :) I adore the woman, my idol, my legend, a true Briton. I love you darling.

  • STREET PARTY IN SCOTLAND AND IRELAND WHEN THIS COW GOES,,, IT CANT BE LONG NOW

  • @themole184 Fancy partying because someone died, what a creep. I don't like Hitler or Stalin but I don't think I would go out and party when they died, unless I lived under their regimes, regimes which Thatcher's wasn't merely as bad as.

  • @themole184 don't misuse caps lock.

  • @themole184 Streets party in London too, this bat did nothing for us too.

  • whats the point? people age . she looks fine.

  • For perfect rice, wash the dried rice in a sieve until the water runs clear and place in a microwaveable bowl with 2 times the volume of the rice of water. Cover with cling film, pierce once with a fork and microwave on full power for 12 to 14 minutes, until the water is absorbed. Leave to stand for 5 minutes, and fork the rice up. Note: take care when removing the film! The steam will scald you! Serve at once.

  • Rikka is a type of ritual flower offering practiced by Japanese Buddhists.

It first appeared in the 15th century.

The rikka style reflects the magnificence of nature and its display.

For example, pine branches symbolize rocks and stones, and white chrysanthemums symbolize a river or small stream.

It enjoyed a revival in the 17th century, and was used as a decorative technique for ceremonial and festive occasions, though today it is regarded as an antiquated form of flower arrangement.

  • Rose perfumes are made from attar of roses or rose oil, which is a mixture of volatile essential oils obtained by steam distilling the crushed petals of roses. An associated product is rose water which is used for cooking, cosmetics, medicine and in religious practices.

The production technique originated in Persia then spread through Arabia and India, and more recently into eastern Europe.

In Bulgaria, Iran and Germany, damask roses (Rosa damascena 'Trigintipetala') are used.

  • Ornamental roses have been cultivated for millennia, with the earliest known cultivation known to date from at least 500 BC in Mediterranean countries, Persia, and China.

Many thousands of rose hybrids and cultivars have been bred and selected for garden use as flowering plants.

Most are double-flowered with many or all of the stamens having mutated into additional petals.

In the early 19th century the Empress Josephine of France patronized their development.

  • In climates where hydrangea flowers, place in a mixed shrub border or at the back of a flower bed.

Its rich foliage and large size make it a wonderful background for white or light colored flowers, even tall growing perennials and annuals. In warm climates H. macrophylla is good for adding a splash of springtime color to shady areas and woodland gardens.

Minimal pruning is recommended for most prolific flowering.

Flowers are easily air dried and are long lasting.

  • Having been introduced to the Azores Islands of Portugal, they are now very common there.

Particularly on Faial, which is known as the "blue island" .

Terceira, named the "lilac island" for hydrangeas of that colour.

On Flores Island ("Island of Flowers") and São Miguel, named the "green island" for its floral biodiversity.

There are two flower arrangements in hydrangeas.

Mophead flowers are large round flowerheads resembling pom-poms or, as the name implies, the head of a mop.

  • Lilium washingtonianum is a native to the Cascade Range and Sierra Nevada of western North America.

It is also known as the: Washington Lily,

    Shasta Lily, or

    Mt. Hood Lily.

It is named after Martha Washington and not the state of Washington; in fact, as the northern range of the plant is near Mount Hood in Oregon, it does not naturally occur in the state of Washington.

Its range is limited to the states of California and Oregon.

  • The range of lilies in the Old World extends across much of Europe, across most of Asia to Japan, south to the Nilgiri mountains in India, and south to the Philippines.

In the New World they extend from southern Canada through much of the United States.

They are commonly adapted to either woodland habitats, often montane, or sometimes to grassland habitats.

A few can survive in marshland and epiphytes are known in southeast Asia.

In general they prefer moderately acidic or lime-free soils.

  • A flower, sometimes known as a bloom or blossom, is the reproductive structure found in flowering plants (plants of the division Magnoliophyta, also called angiosperms).

The biological function of a flower is to effect reproduction, usually by providing a mechanism for the union.

Flowers may facilitate outcrossing (fusion of sperm and eggs from different individuals in a population) or allow selfing.

Some flowers produce diaspores without fertilization.

  • Around the world, people use flowers for a wide range of events and functions that, cumulatively, encompass one's lifetime:

    For new births or Christenings

As a corsage or boutonniere to be worn at social functions or for holidays

As tokens of love or esteem

For wedding flowers for the bridal party, and decorations for the hall

As brightening decorations within the home

As a gift of remembrance for bon voyage parties, welcome home parties, and "thinking of you" gifts
