Gosh, and the Dark Knight Rises is supposed to be the end? Noooooo!!! These Batman movies are the best interpretetaions so far, even better than Burton's. *cries*
I'm trying to think of a quote of Harvey's to say here but his whole speech is quote-worthy.
I mean obviously, he is in the wrong but he had been fucked over good and proper and it seemed like it was only him who it had happened to.
Batman is a shadowy hero, what could wrong with his life?
Gordon's wife and beautiful kids were all safe and happy when it was his office that was corrupt indirectly causing all the shit that happened to Harvey.
All it took was 'a little push' from the Joker. 10/10
"Tell him everything will be okay.,,Lie. Like I lied."
When he said it at the end, it sounded like TAS' Two Face as the voice deepens and raspens. And love how this theme is similar to the theme from the series as it begins to spiral into complete madness
"'You thought we could be decent men in an indecent time! But you were wrong. The world is cruel. And the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased, unprejudiced, fair.'"
My favorite scene ever. I watch this scene five times every time I watch the movie. So meaningful and true. Just amazing acting, filming and score. Truly Legendary
It sounds similar to Two-Face's theme in the Antimated Series. The slow, methodical, lurching melody. Two-Face is a different kind of monster to The Joker, more deliberate, more self-righteous and more terrifying because he truly believes he's the good guy, even when he's holding a gun to a childs head or icing Carmine Falcone.
Acid in the face?
"If you ask me, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy."
"You thought we could be decent men in an indecent time! But you were wrong. The world is cruel, and the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased. Unprejudiced. Fair."
i love how this track gives you that sinking feeling in your stomach. the title fits nicely, watch the the world BURN, like harvey's burnt face, I know its deeper than that sue me.
Hans Zimmer is a fucking genius most people won't even notice that this is like a really dark distorted verson of harveys main theme by James Newton Howard...
Perfect music for, in my opinion, the scariest scene on the film. As a lover of acting, I decided to use it as a background for the Joker's monologue on The Killing Joke, and it fits in better than "perfect".
Every time I watch this movie, and Harvey is threatening Gordon's family around the 2:55 mark, I almost tear up. The powerful soundtrack, the emotion in the actors, everything was just perfect.
WHAT A FUCKING GREAT MOVIE. I'm from Spain and the first time i watched it was in July 2008 in England, with my friends. It's one of the best movies i've ever seen. Awesome.
BEST SCENE OF THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. Performances from Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Chris Bale and Nathan Gamble (the kid) were FUCKING AMAZING This musical score playing alongside 2face spilling out his dark soul had me trembling in my seat. Cinema and acting at its very best here.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I really find Bale's Batman voice to be laughable and cringe worthy. When I was watching the scene where Harvey holds Gordon's family at gun point, I was sucked in. I felt the scene, I felt for both Gordon and Harvey. And then Batman showed up and started talking and I couldn't take it seriously anymore
@Danthepest1 Batman talk like that because he is crazy. It's like the make up of the Joker : it's ridiculous, its the expression of his madness, his second personality. Moreover it would be dangerous to use his real voice.
It's not about what I want. It's about what's fair! You thought we could be decent men; in an indecent time! But the world is cruel. And the only morality of a cruel world is chance.
@TheVehicleDESTROYAH Oh, sorry, I didn't understand. But they are two very different villains, I think Tom will do fine, but I think Aaron will always be a better villain . . . but it's just an opinion.
@TheVehicleDESTROYAH Star Wars 3, Harry Potter 3, Toy Story 3, Rocky 3, Rambo 3, Bourne 3, Mission: Impossible 3, X-Men 3, Spider-Man 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 3... to name a few lol
@TheVehicleDESTROYAH True, but I like all of those, though. Just my opinion though. Which ones don't you like?
Although Christopher Nolan's Batman films are incredible, I believe. I think the 3rd one will be just as incredible and this will easily become the best trilogy of all time. I've always thought the older Batmans were corny, this guy finally made it right. Definitely the best of the superhero films. Love it.
@24luva I have no problems with any of them, its just some people consider them bad compared to the rest in their series, Spiderman 3 for example, I like it, but some hate it. Im the kind guy who likes certain movies alot of people will hate.
Dark Knight Rises will be amazing, to me, some people will dismiss it simply because its not as good as The Dark Knight, though Nolan has and always will suceed in making them great.
@TheVehicleDESTROYAH I don't think Nolan will disappoint, he started with Batman Begins . . . amazing movie . . . then TDK . . . . 3 times better . . . . and then inception . . . . most people (intact the only ones who don't think it are batman fans) think it's better . . . . . and then he said he will try his hardest on this batman . . . trust me . . . it will be a excellent movie . . .
I really hope that the Dark Knight Rises will capture me like the Dark Knight did. Hans Zimmer is a true genuis and James Newton Howard's parts in the soundtrack are astounding, so I have high expectations for the Nolan's next.
this movie was amazing. It has everything.Soundtrack, characters, plot. This soundtrack shows really that madness is like gravity, all that it needs is a little push<3
It's crazy how Batman has a truth to it. That any innocent person can fall so easily when they are put into despair or sorrow. It shows us how weak we really are even though we pretend to be so strong.
@Keyashii The concept of "strength" you mention is "the capacity of the positive personalities (personalities are based on emotions -> positive: the way you are when you feel the way you like to feel) not to disappear when negative emotions show up". If our enslaver, our brain, "wants to", positive emotions may disappear anytime, in any situation.
@Keyashii Most people don't have any idea of how much choice we really have in our lives, which is far less than they think, and they don't because they have happy lives. I may become Batman now and Joker a while after quite easily.
"Then why was I the only one who lost everything?"
"....You weren't."
"The Joker chose ME!"
"Because YOU were the best of us. He wanted to prove that even someone as good as you could fall."
"....Well, he was right."
"You're the one holding the gun Harvey."
I'm sorry if my incessant quotations are getting on your nerves guys. Also, did anyone else shed a little tear when Batman got shot, and everyone was whimpering like "We are dead..."
"You think I want to escape? There is no escape from THIS."
Did anyone else noticed subtle changes in Harvey's voice during this scene, sorta like he was switching between the Harvey Dent part of his psyche and the Two-Face part. Like when he says "Tell your boy it's going to be alright, Gordon. Lie. Like I lied." You hear it in the "lie" part.
Anyway, scariest scene in the movie and most gripping.
"Its not about what I want its about whats fair!!! You thought we could be decent men in an indecent time, well you were wrong the world is cruel and the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased, unprejudice...fair. His son has the same chance she had-a 50/50"
i kinda wish 2 face didnt die..or he got badly injured and we thot he died but came back in the dark knight rises, itd be interesting to see him again and what kind of things he would do and how batman would deal with him, him being an old friend thered probly be some sympathy
I feel your pain. But the reason Two-Face died at the end is because Joker was right: Batman's one rule was the rule he'd have to break in order to stop him. So in the end, the Joker won.
Honestly? i thought Dent was a more interesting villain. Joker was amazing but he just came out of no where and was way too invincible. Aaron Eckhart put alot of emotional depth in this character from when we first see him until the end where he falls.. Every time i see that scene with him and Gordon I shit myself. I keep expecting him to shoot the boy. too intense.
@MrHEC381991 i see what you're saying, but that was the whole point - Nolan said he didn't want to explore The Joker's background/beginning. it adds to the hopelessness and terror of Gotham, and besides, The Joker ROCKS. XD
The world is cruel and the only morality in a cruel world is chance, unbiased, unprejudiced, fair one of the most epic lines i have ever heard in a movie
No. And not just because Gordon would have learned, but rather Dent would not have had a significant-enough connection to Bruce Wayne for it to make much difference. I think the question should be: was Batman willing to show Dent his identity at all? Again, the answer is no, because it is all about the persona of The Batman towards ALL of its citizens.
That concept of Gotham's "spirit being broken, completely" by finding out about Dent's killings is just one of many the Joker had that made him one of the best characters in any film...ever. He's evil, crazy, suicidal even...but he knows his shit. His "social expiriment" may not have worked, but he made it fail-proof by opening Harvey's eyes to what the world really is. In life....if you lose all spirit...all hope, faith....you become something else....something inhuman....something chaotic.
@tannerkish616 Joker are just try to show the people there truth nature and use someone with are the Simbol of Gotham and see like a "Savior" Joker use Harvey Dent to show what the people could became when lose everything and the Vision of Joker of the World is not much far of the truth.
@Stynd Hey pal, you don't see us english speaking folk trying to converse in a language we cant comprehend. Go away and stop stealing our jobs. Thank you.
@kadajshm Just imagine this song being played with a line of Americans out the door at an unemployment office. The world is cruel. And the only morailty in a cruel world is chance- unbiased, unpredjudiced....FAIR. Unfortunatley, chance has fucked many of us American citizens out of the job.
Poor Harvey! A person can only take so much tragedy in their life before they break and become insane and I feel bad for him. He lost his future wife, lost half of his face and personality, lost his career, and his mentallity.
Gosh, and the Dark Knight Rises is supposed to be the end? Noooooo!!! These Batman movies are the best interpretetaions so far, even better than Burton's. *cries*

His son has the same chance she had-a 50/50"

i kinda wish 2 face didnt die..or he got badly injured and we thot he died but came back in the dark knight rises, itd be interesting to see him again and what kind of things he would do and how batman would deal with him, him being an old friend thered probly be some sympathy
andyevs10191 5 months ago
@andyevs10191 Oh god no... then it'd be like a soap opera... "GASP! I DIDN'T REALLY DIE!". nah, Chris Nolan is better than that.
MrTestMusic 5 months ago 5
@andyevs10191
I feel your pain. But the reason Two-Face died at the end is because Joker was right: Batman's one rule was the rule he'd have to break in order to stop him. So in the end, the Joker won.
DestructiveMomoKing 5 months ago
Honestly? i thought Dent was a more interesting villain. Joker was amazing but he just came out of no where and was way too invincible. Aaron Eckhart put alot of emotional depth in this character from when we first see him until the end where he falls.. Every time i see that scene with him and Gordon I shit myself. I keep expecting him to shoot the boy. too intense.
MrHEC381991 5 months ago 7
@MrHEC381991 i see what you're saying, but that was the whole point - Nolan said he didn't want to explore The Joker's background/beginning. it adds to the hopelessness and terror of Gotham, and besides, The Joker ROCKS. XD

Should Batman have revealed his identity to Harvey during this climax?
Dreaklock 6 months ago
@Dreaklock I guess the only hint was when Harvey told him, "Why was it me who lost everything?" and Batman responds,"It wasn't."
apapastrat 6 months ago
@Dreaklock
EVAUnit4A 5 months ago
@Dreaklock Hmm, probably not then, cause Gordan was there, but that would make the talk a whole lot more interesting.

In life....if you lose all spirit...all hope, faith....you become something else....something inhuman....something chaotic.
tannerkish616 6 months ago 4
@tannerkish616 Joker are just try to show the people there truth nature and use someone with are the Simbol of Gotham and see like a "Savior" Joker use Harvey Dent to show what the people could became when lose everything and the Vision of Joker of the World is not much far of the truth.

Poor Harvey! A person can only take so much tragedy in their life before they break and become insane and I feel bad for him. He lost his future wife, lost half of his face and personality, lost his career, and his mentallity.
