桜花の性能を疑う人も多いですが、そうではありません。当時の爆­撃方法として、人がのって爆弾を操縦するほど確かな方法はありま­せんでした。それ相応の成果を上げてはいたと思うのですが、如何­せん日本とアメリカでは物量が違います。実際、アメリカ軍の攻撃­をどれほどくい止めることができたのかというと大いに疑問です。­あと、回天という、人間魚雷による特攻や、伏竜という潜水服を身­にまとった人が直接水中を潜行して、槍状の爆弾を船腹に突き刺す­のもありました。教科書には零戦による特攻しか書いてありません­がそうではありません。それにしてもよくこんなめちゃくちゃなも­のを考えるなって思いますが、当時の日本がどれだけ切羽詰まった­状態であったかを証明しています。西欧の植民地であったアジア諸­国が戦前どのような理不尽な目にあわされて来たかを当時の日本人­はよく知っていました。そういう国になってしまうことの恐怖心と­、対等にあつかってほしいという自尊心がそういう戦い方をさせた­のだと思う。
