I think this meaning holds very true. I dont have very many friends. However I do know that the one or two that I do have will die or kill for me and vice versa. I take friendships very seriously but thats just me. If someone isn't willing to take a loss for you then they aren't your friend plain and simple.

Completely agree-there's a scene in the film 'Wyatt Earp' in which Doc claims that everybody hates him, to which Wyatt replies 'Not everybody that knows you hates you, Doc', and later Doc tells him that he knows it isn't easy being his friend, but he'll be there when he needs him. Both lines reminded me of this scene in the way they show the bond between Earp and Doc. Their relationship always fascinated me, with Earp being a lawman and Doc an outlaw, it was an very interesting friendship
