I think you were very brave and sounded calmer than I would have been. Maybe you were still in shock at this point. Thanks for sharing your harrowing experience with us. Something to share with your grandkids decades from now!!:))))
I'm glad you are ok. I live in Arizona. Flash floods are very dangerous. People die every year here from flash floods...even people who have lived here all their lives. This is awesome video.
i've had the same thing in the grand canyon and i broke my leg, my nose, and 2 ribs because a tree came with high speed at me but that saved me the tree pushed me too the riverside and i could get out of the river.
I know I sound spastic in this video, but we really were seconds away from being washed downstream. I guess it was the adrenaline that makes me sound like a valley girl on helium.
We were visiting from the East coast, where flash floods are rare. There were absolutely no warnings at the visitor's center, and the park guides never told us there might be flash floods that day. We never would have been hiking up there if we had known what could happen.
First off, don't go hiking when there is a possibility of rain. Even if the rain is 10 miles away, you still could see a flash flood. If you do go hiking, you better be smart enough to know what could happen, and those two obviously weren't. They should have known better. I'm not being a pussy, just smart. Call me cold hearted or cruel, but that's the blunt truth.
So, read this and let us know what you think: Flash flooding in Tucson's Sabino Canyon killed two hikers and stranded a dozen others Saturday afternoon.
