  • i can play this on guitar! XD

  • I can't even count the number of times I played, sang and loved this song! It's great to hear it with Judy Collins too! Brings back many great memories!

  • This song gave me back my musical life!

  • First heard this song in '64 or '65. The Kingston Trio did it with the great, now deceased John Stewart on lead. It was wonderful, Then heard it by Judy Collins and she took it to another level. Then by Ian and Silvia and really discovered Ian's beautiful voice. Then by Suzy Bogus and she did a swell version of this. Fact is, it is a classic and many people have done it and well. It seems to be the kind of song that elevated the artist doing it. Beautiful story in the words.

  • Love this Song .........:)

  • it's nice song

  • Wow They were so AMAZING! This is still the best video! Nice harmonizing!

  • does anyone know where to buy this concert on dvd?

  • Ian Tyson is the greatest! His beautiful voice and great song writer are incomparable. It's such a tragedy that he lost his voice. I have all of his CDs and play them whenever I travel, especially when I travel into western Canada.

  • @johnnyjemimah ian tyson canadian legend

  • I have not heard this song in years;just came across this tonight !!! WOW !! Makes me think of autmn coming on;and it's just summer today !!!

  • Marvelous song, and this is a beautiful performance. Judy's voice remains clarion clear after all these years. :)

  • Ian Tyson, one of the most under appreciated singers/songwriters of the last 40 years. Great songs, great singer.

  • When you read a comment like the one below where this guys wife talks about her brother in law in a body cast from getting run over by a bull, it just brings it all home, to me at least, how much a song can mean to people about just how real their lives are or can be. I'm a pedal steel player, and I started playing steel because of the beautiful rendition that Buddy Emmons played on Judy's recorded version of this song. Funny, how a song can affect people in so many ways. Marc Trainor.

  • We're also lucky to have Ian and Sylvia....Icons with Neil Young, Gordie Lightfoot etc

  • @vinny6737 Icons indeed !!! Their songs just give me goosebumps !!! Best music ever !!!

  • What a find! What year was this?

  • What a find!

  • Judy Collins is pretty special - you're lucky to have her Canada.

  • I always remember my wife talking about meeting her brother in law for the first time - body cast from getting run over by a bull in a rodeo. He had recently been discharged from the service. That's been over 40 years ago and this song still reminds me of Dick even though he went from being a cowboy to a successful executive - he still has a lot of Wyoming in his blood. Judy captures a lot of our experiences, particularly if you're out here in the West.

  • aspen1987.......Saw thisspecial on television way back when????? I had taped it and have watched it severa times......sure enjoyed that special and this part was my favourite.....thanks for posting....Love these three singers.....

  • Suzy Boggus? How about Judy Collins/Buddy Emmons and James Burton. Life did not start in 1985!

  • @minter74

I was lucky to see James perform with Elvis and Emmy Lou Harris (one of the best shows I ever saw--Glen Hardin was in that band too) . Also fortunate to see Buddy when he was in the Everly Brothers band.

  • I grew up listening to Suzy Bogguss' version, so this one is strange on the ears. Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful, but just not what I'm used to, so it sounds real different.

  • I have loved Ian Tyson since I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin and watching Ian Tyson and The Great Speckled Bird on public TV in the late 60's I think.

  • Lord, what beautiful harmonies! One of my favorite songs, always brings a tear to my eye.

  • i just love ian and sylvia and this song with judy collins just makes it special.thanks brod313

  • Canada at its best. Sometimes we forget there's a real country here.

  • great performance..nice sound good memories

  • Fantastic, BRod. I don't think it can possibly get any better than the pure soul and depth of Ian and Judy Collins singing together. And I don't mean to slight Sylvia in the least....some fantastic harmonies here. Thanks for posting a song I've loved for many years.
