But at the end of it all if you can accept ureself than that should be all that matters...bcos u have to live with ureself. This is what I try to tell people! Once we had to do an essay on something that annoyed us about society. I chose this exactly, and my teacher said I was completely over reacting.. Probably because he was a 50 year old man, but hey! I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks that we should be who we are, no matter what we look like :)

hmm I understand. When I was a teen I was a complete stick lol. I was as thin as a rake. I was so uncomfy. I would wear massive tshirts to cover it cos i know people were looking at me and judging me.
As i got older I am now curvy. Which is great. But then i felt too fat.
I learnt that I should have just realised that your body changes as you get older and you should just not care what people think.
i totally get what you're saying about material people. it's okay to watch what you eat because sometimes for health reasons, and like you said, if you're skinny already just eat healthy, don't starve yourself, it's just sad what society has done to everyone. no one is themselves anymore...

It's frustrating because a lot of marketing in the world is dishonest and they aren't afraid to lie about their "results", and aren't afraid to take your money either. Being to skinny is uggly (a woman isn't made to be looking like a skeleton in my opinion urgh ! lol) and dangerous for your health ! Being overweight is also not good for your health.

i agree marilyn monroe was a size 14! and she was one of or the first american sex symbols she was beautiful. Also, women are ment to have extra fat on them, its natural and feminin. Though being overweight isnt good either.
at the end of the day, i agree that it is wrong to be super skinny, but it is wrong to be overweight too. it is unhealthy and just as bad as being underweight.
i had anorexia when i was about 12 and its not good. tell them when they get older they may not beable to have kids. it made me change my mind same when i herd about all the other helth issues. i hope the helth scare will change there mind about not eating propely.
Make up should be used to enhance your looks, not change your looks. A lot of girls don't realize that. If you want to change something about yourself, change your outlook on things, not your looks!

Aww, this is really nice! Yeah they people in the magazines are airbrushed. There is this show in the U.S. called "How to look good naked" and there was this one episode this woman just loved how these two girls looked on this giant poster and the girls were standing behind them and popped out, they looked NOTHING like the pics. You live once, be happy.
Years ago I modelled in New York. I can state for a FACT that the photos of me are NOT me.
First of all, I was literally spray painted from my normal pale skin to a perfect, blemish-free brown. It was paint!
Then I was made up, and 3 people spent over an hour on my hair.
Even then, they altered the photos with the computer.
The fashion and beauty industries make women feel inadequate so that they will buy products! The first rule of marketing is to create a need that does not exist.

Hmm. I agree with you panacea81. It's frustrating because a lot of marketing in the world is dishonest and they aren't afraid to lie about their "results", and aren't afraid to take your money either. I've been perplexed by todays society and wonder, "What, if anything can I do to change it?". Being to skinny is uggly (a woman isn't made to be looking like a skeleton in my opinion urgh ! lol) and dangerous for your health ! Being overweight is also not good for your health.
But look at Marilyn Monroe ! She wasn't skinny and she was just gorgeous !

i agree marilyn monroe was a size 14! and she was one of or the first american sex symbols she was beautiful. Also, women are ment to have extra fat on them, its natural and feminin. Though being overweight isnt good either.

i had anorexia when i was about 12 and its not good. tell them when they get older they may not beable to have kids. it made me change my mind same when i herd about all the other helth issues. i hope the helth scare will change there mind about not eating propely.

I agree with this im 17 and have never thought about becoming a size sero im a size 8 and happy like i am. Im doing a media/photography project on how the media has influenced people over the years and this video goes to show that not everyone in the world is drawn in by what the emdia is saying.
Another great Vid Lauren and i idolise you, you yourself are perfect and a great inspiration to us younger girlies :) im sure your twin sisters will grow out of it :)

I tell my daughter that the pictures in the magazines are airbrushed and photoshopped to get the look they want. It's impossible to be like that. I wish young girls would learn that it's all fake. People come in all shapes and sizes. Imagine if everyone looked the same, how boring.

this may be true, but the power of the media, hollywood,advertising is impossible to overcome, esp 4 young people. Unless you never turn on the tv or radio or mtv

Aww, this is really nice! Yeah they people in the magazines are airbrushed. There is this show in the U.S. called "How to look good naked" and there was this one episode this woman just loved how these two girls looked on this giant poster and the girls were standing behind them and popped out, they looked NOTHING like the pics. You live once, be happy.

Years ago I modelled in New York. I can state for a FACT that the photos of me are NOT me.
First of all, I was literally spray painted from my normal pale skin to a perfect, blemish-free brown. It was paint!
Then I was made up, and 3 people spent over an hour on my hair.
Even then, they altered the photos with the computer.
The fashion and beauty industries make women feel inadequate so that they will buy products! The first rule of marketing is to create a need that does not exist.
