most airforce planes in history had tail hooks just in case, some f-16s have tail hooks, the f-111 had tail hooks, the f-106 sometimes had tail hooks, f-100 tipicly had tail hooks ext

actually. im in the airforce and i work on these beasts. the f-15 eagles (all models) ALL have arrestor hooks.the reason is that if the aircraft has trouble slowing down, then the pilot can deploy the arrestor hook in order to slow to a safe taxiing speed or to a complete stop by catching wires on the runway: just like in the navy.

The F-15 is used ONLY by the Air Force. Actually back in my Air Force days, the F-106 also had an arrestor hook.
