  • Thanks so much for sharing this video. Truck is my cousin and I just recently found out about my connection to this great musician. Even though I never had a chance to meet him, I am glad that I had the opportunity to view his talent through this video. Once again, thanks.

  • Thank you for this post... I worked with Truck Parham for several years, and enjoyed his talent immensely; my partner Jim Beebe toured with Art Hodes, and also was a fan of George Brunis, although I personally didn't get to work with them. ("Stars of Jazz, volumes one and two)--- Truck is on my "It's Been a Long, Long Time".

  • In the early 1950s it was hard to come by Dixieland on the radio and my record collection was limited. I did manage to attend a few concertsa series of Riveboat Shuffles on dayliners out of NYC. Art Ford had live jam sessions Sunday afternoons on TV. Thanks to Youtube, Pandora and others for their platforms to not only hear but to see videos of these performances.

ps: Ray Coniff played trombone with these guys. His rhythm and tempos can be heard in the group vocals he is noted for.

  • Check out Truck Parham's bio on wikipedia

  • I think this actually was a series on Chicago public TV called "Art's Place" (?) The set was made up to look like a club. There were different guest musicians every time. I think you can still get videos of the series. Anyway great stuff. I play drums in the Chicago area with several trad jazz bands but nothing beats hearing the guys who invented it.

  • Any one know where they were playing. At first, it looked like the old Jazz Ltd. in Chicago, but, on second thought, the place looks a bit too big. I'd love to know, since I listened to Hodes and Brunis for years in Chicago in the fifties. alkuhn1

  • Nice and relaxed, thanks!

  • Georg changed his name from George - because of a superstition about same number of letters in first and last names.
