It is so difficult to find fluent Teochew speakers today under the age of 25. Many younger Teochew had "Mandarinized" or assimilated and pass of as Cantonese in China & adopt their culture as well. Hope they realize b4 2 late or EXTINCT like dinosaur or Tasmanian Tiger from this world or language without speaker like Latin. Latin language is dead when Roman Empire disintegrates.

Hi...my Teochew brothers. Teochew nang, Hokkien lang, Hailam nang or Taiwan-lang; we are all "ka-ki-lang OR ka-ki-nang"; bcos we r all under d group of Min-nan roots. There are more than 60 millions of us world-wide today, ranked 21 most populous mother-tongue in the world in Minnan diaspora (refer Wikipedia). Hope to hear more Teochew songs from Singapore or Chaozhou/Shantou in China. But Teochew singers can calculate their number with fingertips today. SO RARE!!

I think we say Hokien "nang" not"Lang" in Viet Nam.Because I'm Hokien from VN,how about you?

However,you have a good explanation of Min nan dialect as well as Chao Chow dialect.

nang is usually Chao Chow (Teochew) but Hokkien usually say "lang".

I m Hokkien from Malaysia but living in Australia now. I speak Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese dialects and other languages like Mandarin, Malay, English etc. Anyway glad to know Hokkien brothers from Vietnam.

I confirmed with my parents about "nang" & "lang".They said because I grew up in a small town and got influenced by TeoChew's accent.Now I know I'm Hokkien lang not nang.

The original version of this song is sung by a Taiwanese Singer: Jeannie Hsieh Chin-yan (謝金燕) -- Titled - 起跳差恰恰. I think the lyrics and title remain the same, except was sung in Teochew. Althou I m not Teochew but I understand both version. Hokkien, Hainannese, Taiwanese & Teochew language are mutually intelligible.

haha,,this is interesting...wa ye si teochew nang..i'm an indonesian though...the place i live in is called batam,where most of the chinese there speaks the "traditional" teochew...although i know how to speak but my teochew mixes up with some local words as teochew ppl from my place didnt come up with new terms...now im learning new teochew terms and words from internet...anyway,traditional teochew is better .....pls upload more teochew stuff...thanks!^^
