  • fantastic model!

  • very nice!

  • Quote - Wouldn't the swastika be out of place in this era of aircraft?

It was used on many WWI planes as a symbol of good luck, and not only by the Germans. It wasn't until WWII that the Swastika was used by Hitler as a symbol for evil. Even then, Hitler's Swastika was reversed from this one.

Excellent model! I'm currently building the one from Glencoe Models in 1:48th...and it's a BEAR!

  • This is Voss's earlier career plane, but not the one he was flying when he was shot down. He was flying a DR-1 Triplane, and was able to slip turn all around his opponents using the DR-1s incredible full rudder, tight turning radius and amazing climbing ability. That's how he was able to hold them all off.

  • it really was there.... but it was only symbol of victory, good luck, or something like that...

  • Very detailed ... this plane is of the 30's?

  • The plane is an Albatross DII, which served the German Imperial air service during WWI, starting in 1917. Werner voss was killed in an epic dogfight with seven British fighter planes, all flown by very expierenced pilots. Voss was able to damage all his opponents before being brought down by Arthur Rhys Davids.

  • 1917

  • Great display. Love the wood grain and the realism built into this kit. The pilot is Model Cellar's Werner Voss and the Alb.D.III is Roden's 1/32. Excellent work.
