I think that it has existed all over "Svithiodh" or "Swiorice" which was inhabitated by swions mentioned alongside with geats(götar) in Beowulf. But there is also something similar in singing-style in Russia. There were a lot of swedes that moved to Russia in the viking-age, or is the explanation that this belonged to the cult-
ure in Europe in the bronze-age. The ways only survived there it was really needed..
Yeah, I confirm the other commenter's observation about the cat. The sound was faint in the beginning, so I turned it up. YOW! Two cats had been sleeping under the bed, apparently, because they shot out of the room like trout. Another one peeked around the edge of the doorway and then left. And no --- no cows here, either. I liked it though. Who needs a pennywhistle when they can do kulning?
