@chuuuck13 fella there is always one twit out there that doesnt understand what they are watching. The handy trax isnt a scratchin or mixing deck...it just a plain old record player that just happens to be able to handle scratchin and mixing but you need to be feckin smooth......have you seen people scratchin with tape decks?....I had to watch it a few times just to make sure it was real......
@DjCantFuckinMIx all i was saying is that i like this guys scratching and mixing i dont get what the problem with complimenting someone is but im sorry it bothered you
@chuuuck13 eh fella what the hell arse you going on about....lol....read my comment again you plumb!..lol.
I was agreeing with you...and yes its a shit hot video with pukka scratchin and mixing....chill Winston....you've got to be American....lol...I will look after writing this message
MAN YOUR MIXING IS AWESOME! I love it! This shows that to be a good DJ is not necessary to have an ultra-mega-super equipment, oncly criativity and skils. Congratulations man!
I'm not a turntablist so forgive my ignorance, but I thought scratching with a belt drive turntable was a big no-no because the belt slips/wears out or whatever. Is this true? You seem pretty capable with the handy trax. So I'm assuming you can scratch with whatever you want.
@trevioio It's mostly a deft touch. You can be rough, you can be gentle, it's all dependent on how you are on the record. I'm weird in the sense that I kinda "buttered" the surfaces between the slipmat and the platter, that way it wouldn't stress the belt/motor. But yeah, it's all on how you handle your shit.
Bro!!! I'm pretty impressed on how the needle did not skip while you were scratching on that turntable. I remember my first impression of when I seen this turntable appear on the market, it reminded me of some Fisher-Price toy lol!!! All jokes aside, I am very impressed and praise this awesome demonstration.
when recording music from the vinyl to PC would you need a external sound card or mixer , or is the standard PC soundcard good enough for the quality of Vestax Handy Trax?
Reliable HandyTrax, if it to use especially for mixing with DVS? What there needle type: spherical or elliptic? Is it possible to replace it? What slipmat do you use?
I understand that it not Technics, but on the other hand, Technics weighs 12kg! And for me it's the most important - mobility...and that I could carry all my setup: MacBook+NI Audio4DJ+2xTimecode Vinyl and...I hope...2xHandyTrax...when I will get it...If I will get it...In advance thanks!
So you changed the stylus on the handytrax I understand? Was that to the Shure M44-7 Cartridge? Do you think any scratch cart could let you cue with it yeh?
I've always wanted to be a deejay like red alert or primo not like Khaled, i'd always wanted to be in a rap group and bring back something thats missing from hip hop and thats deejayin
I just sold off my decks and mixer with the intent of going totally digital, but I've been considering using my Handy Trax with the control vinyl. I think it finally has a use other than crate digging!
Even if the Handytrax is not designed for Scratching I think it has an impressive torque for a Belt Drive turntable, better than many so called "beginner dj turntables" out there.
Hey I'm getting a Vestax Handy Trax Turntable . . . because I want to skratch. Is this a good skratching turntable? And also, I noticed below someone mentioned something about you using wax paper for your turntable. What's that about? Will I need to use wax paper for something on my turntable?
It's not really made for scratching; this video is more for show than something practical. The wax paper reduces friction between the platter and the record allowing for faster startup/release times. You're better off getting to Stanton T50s or something.
No, likely because the platter is still able to spin even when the record is stopped. Besides, I learned how to DJ on belt drive turntables and had them for something like two years -- the belt never snapped on them.
what was the name of the second instrumental you played? I am not sure if that is toasted marshmallow. I think you are great and you have a potential career in music.
The version I used was from Toasted Marshmallow Breaks, but Q-Bert lifted it verbatim from a song called (simply enough) 122 BPM on an 80s compilation called "Jive Rhythm Tracks."
The space is 7", so it's the same as a CD deck like Denon's. Even at that, I scratch on the outside edges without too much trouble. If you're right handed you might not be able to work the fader as easily as me, but I don't see why it would matter otherwise. It doesn't skip too easily (look at the table wobbling). Keep in mind though I grew up mixing on tables worse than this :)
I cut an extra slipmat down to 7" and used it on the Handy Trax. The unit has decent torque, but if you don't use a mat it will tear up the flip side of your records.
:) LOVE THE VIDEO

@danthedonHBB it's not a fader it's a volume level.

Super!!! How do you think, is it possible to use it with DVS, such as Traktor Scratch Duo?..
DJGarazd 2 years ago
Theoretically you could, but I don't think it's very practical.

Please explain in details why you think so?
