The answer is simple - teach them about Algae biofuel. STOP THE PATENTS!
Algae biofuel produces 1000 times as much per acre as palm trees. If they had access to the technology of producing vegetable oil from Algae, they would not NEED to chop down the rainforrest!
The core of the problem, is patents! American companies dominate the patent market, and stop others from doing what needs to be done!
Some things are so critical to humanity, that they should NOT be patentable.
I lived here when it was all jungle. The monkeys woke us in the morning. A hornbill would stop by the back door for breakfast and tiger cubs were known to walk across the front lawn. I hope that the people of Indonesia stop the rape of their treasure!
aaagghhh.. im 14 and dang i care about the environment.. holy shit it hurts my feeling looking at those people cutting the trees.. benar kata bapak tadi. jangan lagi hutan itu ditebang. when i finish school im gonna come back to indo and im gonna stop them!
He he he, Suku Anak Dalam (indegenous tribe) in South Sumatra. Well they are not that naive. They demand for their share (thousand Hectare of Oil Palm plantation) each time a company open an Oil Palm plantation. I have seen many of the tribe member riding on a $22.000 Toyota Strada with only using short pants. Few year ago they only eat a dry cassava (gaplek), now they can eat caviar. The oil palm bussines doesnt bring anything to the lokal? Well thats not true.
Bringing money doesn't bring life. Money can only buy what is offered. Capitalist consumerism is killing the Earth...
