  • This should be titled, "how to light a match!"

  • What kind of idiot can't light a match?

  • @2KARGARAGE U!!!!

  • just want to speak with like minded people. love the simplicity so its like building a teepee right? actually what ever happened to two pieces of wood and asking the fire for permission? ok you brought plastic into the woods you lose game over ur done son

  • My 12 year old son can build a fire with a magnesium block and striker in less than 2 minutes or faster than I can prime my MSR stove...

  • as a seasoned backpacker/ climber /fisherman I have to say that the inability of this woman to strike a match is shocking. Give this gal a lighter and check back in a year. Good Lord!

  • I think they should be covering their legs and arms to keep them warm and to prevent scratches. Also that lady needs more practice with a flint stick but I have to admit I am not too good myself but I effortlesly started a fire with purel smeared on a cotten ball with a flint stick. :)

  • @kensho3

I bet she needs to read the instructions on shampoo bottles as well, holy crap!

  • O_O

  • get the kid a blast match or fire steel! Lol!

  • really BASIC survival!! few minutes to make a fire with MATCHES.. 1/5 Stars

  • ........no backpack, no rambo knife, no "expert" gear.......JUST YOU ALONE

  • no doubt. survival means you DONT HAVE ANYTHING BUT YOURSELF. there is no civilization and you are trying to get your way back to it...thats a good start anyway.

  • u can take the foil and put in in ur rife lit on the hot coals and boil your water

  • goos kit you got there

i got a question for anyone that might know, do any of you folks out there know why some people include tin foil or aluminum foil in their survival packs? thanks in advance....!

  • it either keeps the heat or cold in...also waterproof...

  • people use big cheats of tin foil or aluminum to wrap round them if there wet.. its a great insuluator of heat especially if your wet

  • it can be used for ,water collection, lid for your boiling water, a cup to drink out of,a container for foraging, a wind shield for lighting your fire, a mirror for reflecting light, put inside your hat to reflect heat back into your body.

  • It is also good for signaling if you get lost. You can reflect the sun onto something for people to see.

  • The two reasons that I know of are; foil is a great reflecter for signaling rescue personel, and it works great for cooking things in an open fire, if you don't have a pan. You don't want to try and make a pan, just wrap the food in it and cook it.

  • well..... white tipped matches are about the easiest to light and it took her 362 trys. matches get wet and then dont work. in a survival situation is is much better to have a few lighters.

  • or a fire steel/ferro rod

  • She can't use matches and the name of movie is "Survival..." ?

    Plzz...

  • She can use matches and the name of movie is "Survival..." ?

    Plzz...

  • get a swedish fire starter

  • Ever heard of Red Head's Safety matches ?

Americans still have non safety matches...

  • Fire Steel also lasts a hell of a lot longer than matches...

  • Just bring a BIC lighter with you at all times............

  • the point is renewability, you will run out of butane eventually...

  • How long do you plan on being lost? there is an awful lot of fire starting power in one

    .99cent bic lighter.

In fact I have carried a magesium fire starter (dog tag type)on my keychain for over 20 years and havent used it yet.

  • You've obviously never gone camping only to find out your lighter doesn't work...Not fun.

  • I loose my bic lighter before the butane runs out, i´d loose whatever renewable alternate firestarter anyways... that´s why i´m learning to use the bowdrill (my bows haven´t worked so far).

  • Agreed, a fire steel is a much better way of lighting a fire in any kind of situation. Although I understand that most hikers will carry matches instead.

The trick is to cup the match and striker in your hand and once lit, leave it a moment to get bigger before transferring slowly to the kindling.

  • matches are overrated us fire steel

  • Fire steel is exceptionally awesome in all kinds of weather conditions. I'd take it over matches any day of the week.

  • No more matches, she's dead!!
