i agree music is an all time healer :) no matter how or what i feel? i turn to music and all troubles go away :)sing sing sing! let your voice be heard yeah! :)
This song is saying so much. A strong woman with a strong voice sings out to all her fellow women in the world. The song in itself, i don't think is only dedicated to African women, but to all of us. Let the women's voices be heard....and the brothers should totally sing too. The way I "read" it, basically, If you're unhappy, depressed, opressed by anything, you owe yourself to act upon it. Beautiful!
Music brings happiness with hope of touching others. I personally would like to thank you for all you have done and continue to do in the future. Many of my associates and clients are putting a word production of artist together, called the World Freedom Project. In the hopes that all country's that participates will bring revenue to there own needs as well as helping others.
Look people, nowhere in the world is the AIDS crisis as severe as it is in the sub-Sahara. The economy is literally crippled there because there are so many sufferers who are unable to work. Annie isnt giving preferential treatment - she's drawing attention to where this pandemic is most catastrophic. Research the numbers and look at the amount of people, esp. women and children, who are suffering from it there. You'll see why special attention is needed for the AIDS crisis in the sub-Sahara.
what is there to argue about? Annie wrote a song about a cause: AIDS is killing millions of people in Africa & most of those people are women... period. It's got nothing to do with why she doesn't mention the other millions of people around the world dieing of the same disease... she is drawing attention to a part of the effect of AIDS on part of our human race, that's all... geez..
So, her sisters with AIDS are only blacks in Africa...and blacks in Africa are the only ones with AIDS...and the only ones that matter...I learned something new today!
@thegorn68 I'd say I'm not unfeeling. You CAN misconstrue what I said as being a prick but I'm not. I want more attention given to EVERYONE that has AIDS. She talks about her "sisters" (I assume she means in womanhood) yet only blacks are shown..it's disappointing (a feeling). I didn't want an argument and I assumed my comment would be understood. My mistake. There's too much attention focused on Africans with AIDS than anyone else. As if there weren't others in this world that need education.
@SnjperWulf I don't want to start an argument with you because "SING" is supposed to empower us all, first and foremost. But when you wrote, "There's too much attention focused on Africans with AIDS than anyone else, " I did take pause. Yes, AIDS is a worldwide epidemic and everyone who suffers from it deserves the care they can afford. Africa, sadly, cannot afford the medications or resources because of debts impoverished small countries of the continent cannot pay off. Check the facts 1st.
@TheDeePDX WEll, I don't understand where an argument was going to take place. Your comment isn't something I disagree with. You just stated what I already covered (about severity). I don't see what fact I got wrong that I would need to check. I stated an obvious point. Whether I mentioned the cause or not, the outcome is the same..no? Whether it's willful or not, it still reaps the same results. Also, Africans aren't the only ones who can't afford treatment. Well, this will become an (CONT)
@TheDeePDX (CONT) argument if I continue; should you reply. So, I'm opting out now. Reply as you like and we'll leave it at a possible "agree to disagree".
@thegorn68 And before you go off half-cocked about the severity, think about this: How did they get that way in the first place? Neglect of education and attention to the problem. Making it that way in countries that have had it are going to reap the same results. I'm not saying there's a complete LACK of attention/education but lessening lulls people into a sense of "Well, it's not a problem where I live." Thus, people become lax on precautions and prevention. That's just part of my take on it.
Wow.. This is really good song..

The only way to ever defeat AIDs is to kill everyone with it. The only way. Call it harsh or whatever, but think about it... i'm right.
