  • Well said. And so true.

  • Buddhism is a philosophy. It's not a religion. Are you father Christmas????

Jesus forgave people after being tortured !!1 get over it, a bit of swearing is nothig compared with people ripping your flesh off and crucifying you, twat!

  • Sorry just a question .What if the person abusing and insulting does not feel degraded in his own words what if he is a low, uncultured person himself..please don't mistake me I am just asking cause i just wanted to know and have faced situations where the person insulting I personally don't think he would feel bad or low about himself after insulting someone...thanks for the time taken to read ..awaiting your reply..Thanks

  • @ariezj You cannot know the heart and thoughts of others. In my own personal experience with those who seem as virulent as their curses, being kind and loving and blessing them confuses them because it's not something they are used to. Plus, the Bible says that doing good is like pouring a pot of hot coals on the head of evil. (Romans 12:14-21) You might not see the results of such actions, but that doesn't mean they aren't taking place.

  • @ariezj If the person abusing and insulting doesn't feel degraded in his own words, that's okay. But if you respond by trying to insult them, it would probably only please them to see you angry.

  • Thank you so much, Father.

  • you are a satanist a paganist with your idolatry worship babylonian god worshippers catholics are ,, also child abuser mostly from your false religion ..

  • I agree that gratuitous profanity is essentially a waste, though at times it can be very funny. But then again, sometimes a prick "needs" to be called a prick. A great way to avoid this is to try to avoid being a prick.

  • @Naked4Jesus my response to profanity "gee, what an impressive vocabulary you have. i bet your mother is proud of you"

  • Great sermon Father. I only wish the priests in my neck of the woods could speak as well as you, or on as relevant a topic.

  • gr8 vdo

  • This can be a problem, and you're right that it's a tough habit to break. Thank you for your gentle reminder. LOve your videos Father!

  • Father Jeffrey, this was a really nice video. thank you so so much for posting it. God bless you

  • I loved the video :D Excellent.....

  • I needed this. Thank you. Not as one who is insulted (though I am, often), but as one who insults others (again, often), this helps settle me home. Thank you, Father. I can't say I'll stop acting how I do, that's a bit of a high shot, but, you do inspire me to try to hold my tongue. I know I won't always, but this helps. Thanks.

  • @alow420 thank you for saying that thats exactly how i feel and i gave you the thumbs up

  • Fucking crap the rubber room is waiting for you go back to the aslyum.

  • How more stupid could you be, he's speaking the words of love and you call him crazy ? Does that mean your minds are SO open to evolution that you insult a old man for speaking to the world about PEACE ?!

Holy internal processed nutritionally-drained biological output! You should be in a aslyum you fucking underevoled jew

  • Thank you! that helped me deal with my anger quite well :)

    God bless you, too :)

  • You just ignore it, simple as that. It really isn't hard, I've done it since I was 4 years old for fucks sake. If you need god giving them justice as an excuse you likely need some professional help.

  • Why come to a Christian video, then? Keep your mouth shut.

I'm not Catholic, and I disagree with some of the ways they do things (praying to Mary, almost god-like Pope, etc.) but don't purposefully go to Catholic videos to start stuff.

  • @sidneykylebowman1 thats exactly what i do handle this profanity FUUUUUCKKKKKK RELIGION GOD isnt real u stupid ignorant muthafuckas and this guys a fucktard

  • @SandAfilms

I wrote that 5 months ago, moron.

    Nobody asked you, anyways.

I didn't say anything offensive, BTW.

  • @SandAfilms

WOW... you have convinced me with that extremely logical argument...... obviously somewone who evolved from a rock has more intellegence than someone created by God.

  • @SandAfilms How can you possibly call anyone stupid and ignorant with your non-existent skills in English or grammar?!

I was writing better than you when I was four years old!

Go and learn how to spell and use some punctuation before you try throwing your pathetic infantile insults around, you moron!

  • @BloodOfRayne I love you Blood...keep em thinking;-)

  • There is Scum out there in the World and in every of our Societys,

that thinks not before, while and after insulting other People. And a not unimportant Part of Percets of them even attack you and want to beat you when they think that there comes not Counterviolence.

Tolerance is a pretty thing, but you CAN'T handle Intolerance with Tolerance. There were many People murdered in History because they were peaceful and could not build up great violence Power.

    Being dangerous is more safe.

  • Father Jeffrey is good.........Father Carmel is better!

  • Fulton Sheen is the best!

  • "Who ever said the pen is mightier than the sword, has obviously never encountered automatic weapons." Unknown.

  • ROFL

  • LOL, nice

  • Thank You!

    TEAMWHITTINGTON

  • if you use insult to offend, threat or make someone feel bad is totally wrong in front of what i think, if you do that to anyone you're doing it directly to God, but if it's for fun among friends not think it's bad

  • It´s always a sign of good breeding not to say bad words.

  • I agree that cursing is bad. And one should not reply in same manner.

There are exceptions to this, in religion.

Street preachers are just smiling at your face, when they claim all glory to god, all achievements of man belong to god.

by saying that they insult humanity and human intelligence.

that makes you angry, you cannot but express your contempt towards them.

they smile at you, since after all..they must take the higher road and treat people friendly.

That makes you even more angry..

  • you express yourself even more clearly after that, you might even rise your voice, even curse at them... and they keep smiling that stupid smile of theirs.

and when they get back to their church they say...there was a man possessed by devil, we bravely confronted that devil and did not shiver.

without understanding that they actually insulted every fiber in that human being, the whole humanity and human intelligent and achievements, from that person point of view...at least.

    so think twice..

  • Street preachers? I couldn't help but notice this comment. All you do with them is ask what their doctrine and dogma is, so you can find out their deposit of faith. (Ours is Canon Code of Law 1983 online Vatican that is all you have to give them. They can not be preachers of the gospel without such a thing or body to fall back on for apologetics. They also are in need of a body of people for accountability, if they do not, then tell them they just made themselves Popes of their own Church.

  • I feel this is very true. Someone insulted me because I made 1 mistake at driving (not leaving a traffic light the moment it turned green, like 5 seconds after it tuned green), they beeped their horn at me and said insults, they then turned into another street with out idicating, but I didn't insult them for that. But then that is showing them selves up, not me. Plus they seemed not to care to much, which made me dismiss there comments that second.

  • It makes a great deal of sense to control what we say. People who constantly rage at the world over every little inconvenience and frustration inevitably end up being very angry, bitter and frustrated people.

  • It makes absolutely no sense not to curse, they are just words. Yes, it's a good idea not to insult someone, but why is anyone offended by the words fuck, damn, shit, piss, ass, anything like that. They are words to express frustration or to indicate an extreme emotion. To paraphrase Lewis Black, saying pussy feathers simply doesn't cut it sometimes.

    ---------------------

Words are building blocks to your universe ... you create or destroy your own universe with your choice of words. Why create a negative universe for yourself ?

  • What do you mean words are building blocks to your universe? That is a logical progression, if you assume words are building blocks to your universe, but what does that even mean? Also, you make the assumption that "dirty" words are negative. Your first point is an esoteric one involving your universe and seems rather spiritual, but dirty words are very concrete. You cannot use something concrete with something esoteric to prove anything.

  • Hitler created destruction with words ... there is nothing esoteric in what I said.

  • I appologize, I meant to say ethereal, not esoteric.

I'm not saying that words cannot destroy, the pen is mightier than the sword. Like I said, insults are not good, but profanity harms no one. It is just a word with its own definition. There is no reason to be offended by the word fuck more than there is to be offended by the word dog.

  • Thank you Father Jeffrey

    God bless

  • wow your on some good ass happy pills lol

  • Although I am not a Catholic, I find Father Jeffrey to be very insighful and wise. As far as religion is concerned, I would rather live my life like there is a God. Better than to live my life like there isn't a God, die and find out I was wrong...

    Thank you Father...

  • The preacher uses his real name and image. No matter what type of insults he gets from annonymous commentators he takes it on the chin and just keeps on smiling. Guess he practices what he preaches. Easy to see who the wusses are and who the real man is.

  • Thank you Father, for shedding some light into this valley of darkness, it is hard to believe that all these comments were made by people made in the image and likeness of God, but it is true!

  • God Bless you Father Jeffery, a good message and sage advice. I certainly needed it!

  • congress shall make no law abridging freedom of speech, remember that. never fear words when it's actions that harm us.

  • That was good. A little hokey but... I believe in good and bad karma and the idea that the negativity you spew comes back to you... and hurts you more than any one... I really dig that.

  • lol

  • the word "control" only has one 'l'. So does 'colorful'.

  • dude, if i were you, i would go to church and prey the whole day, for all the stuff you have said!

  • that guy had a good point, whoever the hell he is

  • My answer to someone elses vid about profanity: The use of profanity is simply a childs mind lacking vocabulary skills. Ask your self...Why do i need to use those words. Does it make me a man/woman? No! I think the lack of use of those words make you a man/woman! Adults should be able to speak thier mind without reverting to cuss words. Clean it up! : Thank you father for your vid!

  • Screw you Santa, go back to the fucking North Pole and get drunk with Rudoloh! (Ha! Santa=Satan)

No, really, I like what you have to say (I was just kidding)

  • i curse alot cuz its fun and funny lolol and can rly get the angah out!!!

  • me2lololfuckulol

  • we as people who live in a free country can say what we want, who are you to say that something like fuck or shit is bad, you can compare it as to me saying that you can't say the or it, you think that is rediculous and so do i, speaking vulgair isn't about being mad or what ever reason you may say, it's about saying what you want to say because to come to a stereotype, a man can't express himself as it is.

  • A rare find on Youtube. Thank you Father.

  • I think religious people are blind, blind and ignorant. There is nothing wrong with Profanity, and there is no such thing as bad language. All language is a means of expression, in a free country we are aloud to say anything we want.

  • Some excellent wisdom. Thanks Father.

  • Smartest words I've heard from Catholic clergy in a long time. Why couldn't he be pope? :)

  • Wow, it's not everyday we find structured thinking in youtube. Thanks for your video.

  • PJ here makes some really good points. It's unfortunate that a man of the cloth is trying to educate the youth when clearly that is the job of a parent. Parents should be teaching their kids about respect, honesty, and to tolerate others. I'm not a chruch going man, but when someone is right they are just that. I use profanity in my life, but never around children, the elderly, or religious ppl just out of respect.

  • fuck off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111

  • ummmm, a preacher talking about this stuff has no effect on an agnostic. just because he is "holier"than me doesnt mean he knows what hes talkin about.

  • word

  • Father, thank you for posting this video. Father pray for me, I have a broken neck from C3 to C7, from a auto rearend accident, which a off duty cop hit me. I have a tendancy to curse frequently. Pray for me!

  • so..if someone on the street cusses at me and i say

" bless you my son" then i get beat up!...what then jeffrey?

  • lmfaoooo

  • FUCKING NIGGERS!

  • i dont think u build a tolerence to it there just words if u wanna no exactly wut i think watch "on profanity" by thecaster its not me but i agree 100% of wut he says

  • We're not degraded by our own words! We can say whatever we want! Screw other people! If they don't like it, screw 'em! 1:03

  • Indeed this entire little preaching session is a load of bullshit. EVERYONE curses and when they do they don't feel worse and may even feel better.

  • wow this is a bunch of shit i dont feel any worse when i swear fuck shit cock sucker motherfucker shit head asshole bitch dumass c i feel no different then b4

  • That's because you've built up tolerance like a drug addict does to his substances. I'm not a prude and definitely no angel but unfortunately profanity, in the wrong situation, can lead to serious violence & regret.

  • , and maybe, jut maybe by screamin "asshole" or "fuck you" or whatever "profanity" comes to my mind snaps them out of that bad drivin trance so be it cus driving is not just a faster way to get places its also a responsability to yourself and to everyone in the streets!

  • Second: when you call a small thing like cutting into traffic or going to fast, i dont know about you but with the amount of people that die in car accident everyday i dont take driving so lighty and i get angry when someone does cus they dont realize that with a little distraction you could not only end up your own life but also someones who has nothing to do with the "terrible news" you just got

  • First of all the idea of having "forbidden" words its so absurd, words got invented for a reason theay all have a meaning that may be similar to the one of another word but not the same and that why when we smash our little toe agains a corner or a table we scream fuck! not snap! because the word snap doesnt acurratelly describes the pain and anger that the word fuck describes and that why we have it!

  • lol, at 00:45, i thought he was gonne say "fucking"

  • LOL me too!

  • you're unreasonable assessment of taboos that have outlived logic is the only thing keeping the idea that fuck is any worse than ufkc or cufk or ugkf or any other sound anyone can make "profane"

  • Bless you.

  • Dude, that fucking beard is pimp as all fuckin' get out. LOL.

  • Tool bag kthnxbye

  • your a douche bag father

  • I hate religion, but the deeper meaning of Mr. Jeffrey words (Be nice to those who curse you) is the best return to an insult. Not only do they begin to feel stupid, but you feel smart alacky and satisfied. It's quite fun.

  • And the monk explained ... it may seem like I simply continued to walk ... but having read the man's aura I noticed that he was fatally ill and I got my jollies off of that.

  • L O L O_O

  • I have a quote in response to your array of quotes so conveniently placed at the bottom of the screen.

"To allow insult is to invite it a second time." Thomas Jefferson

"He who puts up with insult invites injury" Yiddish proverb

  • why are people bringing up things like "religion is corrupt" as a comment about this video? what he said applies to any person no matter what your beliefs are.

anyway, I like his points. I really don't see why I let myself get offended by some people. I'll have to keep this in mind next time.

  • Going through these comments, it becomes clear how old, repetitive and worn out profanity has become. It is possible to insult a person without using profanity and certainly to disagree without resorting to vulgarity. Many of the commentators, however, lack the ability or the will to do that. At least they help bolster Darwin's theory that we are related to the monkey.

  • haha he can't say ''r'' he said the monk walked on 't-wank-rily' or something..haha! instead of ''tranquilly''

  • Gotta check out _Vampire - Out of the Coffin!

  • If you use a curse word it only shows your ignorants. There is always a better way to say anything. It's the culture we live in and most people are narcissistic. I don't vote because it's a waste of time. Both party's are bad. I only mention this because this change took a giant leap with one man and all of his followers said "What he does is his own business." It was Bill Clinton. BJ's isn't even Sex in the 21 century.

  • fuck dick pussy ass whore slut mother fucker

  • HA THATS NOTHING

cunt shit bitch fuck slut bastard nigger mother fucker cock sucker arsehole wanker fuckface douchebag piece of crap worthless jew dead baby fucker

    ....

    ...

    ..

    .

    TOP THAT

  • haha, jew is a curse word. actaully, it's not that funny, what if we replacced jew with american or christian?

  • meh....that comment wasnt made by me it was my evil twin brother NO actualy it was an evil slut that just just apeared in my house...a hot one

  • I've found that hurling blessings is more likely to confuse the other individual and not have him take you seriously. I agree with you about the habitual use and how ridiculous it makes a person out to be in a censored society, but some do not live for higher powers nor have guilty consciences about saying such words all the time.

  • Fuck.

  • Wow, original.

  • Congratulations, you just proved "thecaster" right.

  • The Caster? Are you talking about that guy who looks like a woman? Yeah, that he/she has real credibility.

  • I agreed with most of what (thecaster) said, he made some great points that I can never get anyone to listen to myself.

  • This nigga dressed like he sings for my chemical romance and he needs to shut his ass up and get rid of the stock exchange ticker bullshit at the bottom and the trippy-ass background. Keep it real pops and slay bitches

  • You know its sort of hypocritical for you to say how some one who says a word uses a lack of thought when you just believe something some one else tells you without thinking at all for your self how things came to be.

  • What if I'm not a fucking Christian, Hindu or Buddhist?

  • Then you're screwed.

  • Excellent video!! Very true. Sad though that many responses to this video are insulting. It always surprises me how cold and unthinking some people can be. It just makes them look foolish in what they say.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Shut Up Old Man

  • You really are a "disturbed guy", thanks for proving your point.

  • Your Welcome

  • hahaha

  • Very nice. It's reassuring to me, being an American teenager whose majority of friends throw around profanity shamefully. I'll keep my vocabulary clean and you keep up the good work (not that they are reliant on eachother).

  • you getem jeffrey :]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]

  • uh....i could take this from a normal person

    but no offence...

i think all this religious shit that has found its way all around the universe won't leave me alone... so i wouldnt take it from this guy

  • He's not a normal person because he's a priest? Wow. Somebody's been brainwashed by the media. Think don't be thought for.

  • Ty for posting this. We could all do a better job speaking to ppl more appropriately and positively. I'm a "3'rd word" guy myself, and It *IS* hard to change. Opening a door for an nice old lady looses all it's intent when she thanks you, and you reply "Ain't F$%@k-all Granny." Yep, need to change.

  • "spits at the sky soils himself"???? I would think you run the risk of spitting on your self instead of shitting your pants

  • That guy was so sincere about what he said, and brought up some good points, I like the way he presented his opinion and beliefs, very good video.

  • I agree, Jordan.

  • Wow. This guy didn't mention any religion at all, except in the closing farewell. what he's said is a simple fact that applies to mankind in general, God or no. And you don't even have to accept it as that. So why must we insist on arguing about TRUE or FAKE religions when what's stated here is simply a man's honest opinion?

  • dude what the fuck?

    you're kinda...

stupid/lame/boring/and putting me to sleep goddammit!

  • I read a book once. It was green.

  • Why does religious bullcrap have to find its way everywhere? Face it, all of these dumb religions are dying. People are finally realizing how impossible all of these stories are. UGH

  • IT finds its way everywhere for the same reason you can make your comments about it here. It's called Freedom Of Speech...And people have died in wars so that you can freely make comments like that without having your nuts chopped off, or worse! Believe it, pal.

  • you didn't pay attention, did you? why even post if that's all you have to say? we'd be better off if you didn't

  • i like turtles

  • The Frederick Douglass quote was beautiful, not 'eye of the beholder' beautiful, a fact.

Anyway, I don't expect 2 convince ne1 of my opinions, just like a Muslim won't convince a Buddhist or an Atheist won't convince a Catholic of their own theological beliefs, but this does make me feel better.

There is no such thing as a bad word, because they did not alway exist and as such, if said before such time as they were invented and given meaning, they would have been completely meaningless.

  • fuck you

  • Father Jeffrey--- the woman I love has a horrible habit of cursing everyone that makes her mad. I've said what you said a million times. She doesn't listen. She's recently found her faith again and I hope she will trust it more from a priest than from me. Thank you.

  • Just say what you feel. Let the lawyers sort the rest out.

  • I live in a world of cursing and swearing. The coolest and best people I know however seldom use profanity. Bad language is really boring and repetitive.

  • Use of profanity does not make a person stupid. It just makes the person sound stupid.

  • he never sead it did man ... and this was a very insightfull vid

  • F-U-C-K is just a word made up it aint evil and it doesnt make u stupid or any shit like that

  • He failed to identify how the fuck profanity and insults immediately effect the ones that use them. Seems odd to omit any form of substantiation for the basis of your arguement.

  • I really like what you said. And I especially like that you didn't try to tie in god somehow. this is just a part of being human and its a good philosophy. passivism isnt the best way, but its a good foundation.

  • Chinaboy. I question life and all that comes with it, especially things people tell me I have to believe, as if someone tells you you have to do something, more than not it turns out wrong. If something is so truthful, wouldn't it sell itself, and not need aggressive physiological black mail to sell it?

  • Faeden. just a comment. The Bible has shown me my sin, and it claims that everyone is like me, born into a life of sin. There's a lot of thought on relative truth these days, what's right for me, what's right for you, etc. But there has to be truth. Regardless of what I believe, or what you believe, there is truth. What if the Bible is true? What if all the claims Jesus made about himself are true?

  • yeah, what if is not?.....That, is the conondrum(i think i spelled it right)

  • I could say I am the new messiah, and say you have to believe me, there is no proof, but if you don't believe me your in trouble, now your not going to are you, why? For the same reason I don't believe in the bible as there is NO proof. In fact the bible is being proven as wrong every year by science, creationism has already been blown out of the water by Evolution, yet the blind faithful still cling on desperately.

  • And how do you know that what is written in the bible is the truth about Jesus? What evidence or proof do you have? If you want to tell someone its truth and tell them to believe it you need evidence. Its shown YOU your sin, you tell me why I should believe you or anyone without proof.

  • And no there doesn't have to be one truth, different truths about politics and religion work for different cultures all over the world, its not black and white, and humans are not brainless sheep, we are all individuals, different things work for different people. And If there is a one and only truth, its not religion as there is 0% evidence for any of it, yet there is countless evidence for science, so if there is a truth, its obviously not religion.

  • Living your life based on a what if? Good luck

  • Chinaboy. The Bible might have shown YOU that man sinned, and in a way it has, but its just a book, there is no proof for any of it, and to believe it you need blind faith, I cant just believe in a book without evidence just because someone told me so.

  • Yes we are all animals, but we were supposed to have grown the bigger brain and learnt freewill and right from wrong and become civilized, yet I often see cats, dogs and other animals acting in more moral and better ways than many human animals, I don't see animals killing for selfish reasons or because another did not believe in the same manner as them. Yes all human groups kill, but no group has done it as cruelly and in as huge a number than the religious groups.

  • This video is fucking great !!!

This guy is a fucker !!!

Profanity requires context to be an insult.

It's not the words themselves, but the way you structure the sentence that makes a statment profane.

Swear words have an important place in society.

  • also, the law is there to show that all have sinned, it's a list of things that we humans fail to do. A radical group does not represent the whole. in fact, the majority of the "congregation" of westboro is Phelps' family member---some forced later were estranged. Thanks for the reply :)

  • Fr. Jeffrey, I appreciate the good counsel you give in this video. Often what comes from our mouth is a reflection of what we carry in our heart.

  • I can't even begin to describe how nomadic this piece of shit is.

  • I completely agree on the futility of trying to insult others but I completely disagree that there are good words and bad ones. The idea that some words are bad is up to the person who interprets them in his own mind. Trying to associate morality to words or trying to have vocabularian prohibition is a worthless ideal of attempted control over others.

  • Yeah, I agree. Good quote.
