  • again, he's good, but there is a such thing as over-drumming. there is a point when it just sounds like noise.

  • freaaaaaaaaaaaaking cool

  • Let's be honest, none of us subscribers are going to be playing along to this any time soon. It's slightly too difficult.

  • Will Wheaton is a pro drummer...

  • One of the best drummer video i've seen on youtube! Loved the song :)

  • Man listen to those bass parts! Someone should do a cover of the Bass on this song!

  • Anywhere I could find some tabs for this?

  • Hey Sean, you guys thinking about heading out too Michigan maybe?

  • clearly another under rated drummer that needs recognition for his skills :) amazing energy and refreshing that he does blasts and amazing fills in a different and interesting way the blast beat especially is amazing

  • that was badass

  • Its just.. amazing.. Makes me want to get really good at actually counting as I play >.<

  • Brutal as a mofo.

  • Hey bro... r u using french grip?

  • @lbpeppers it would appear he is for the most part

  • i don't want to sound gay but i want to fuck that guy

  • @jzamora999

    um...

  • His triplet blast beat technique used in this video is simply Swiss Army Triplets but with the flat flams. In his other video, the 16th note blast beat he plays is played using flam taps (again, with flat flams)

  • that blasting technique is insane, did sean lang learn it on his own, or did he learn it from someone

  • @abhimuscat I've been told a few other people do it, but I figured it out for myself while backpacking across australia, drumming on my shoes haha

  • You guys need to get signed

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls They are on itunes

  • @killzonekizza ?? that doesn't make them signed hahaha, im pretty sure that there are more unsigned artists on itunes than signed.

  • sick drummer, sick band, and i deffinately gotta try out that style of blast beating cus it looks so much easier than trying to keep triplet blast like that up at that speed for a long time

  • Sick Sick drummer and on top of that your very tasteful and void of all that generic metal drumming. I like your drums too, very nice indeed. Keep up the good work, really enjoying your videos.

  • like the drumming, the music is a wee bit soft for my taste, but I like the technical drumlicks (if you can call it that). Very tight, impressive!

  • like the drumming, the music is a wee bit soft for my taste, but I like the technical drumlicks (if you can call it that). Very tight, impressive!

  • If the sponge is soaked be thirsty minds

  • he's fucking machine

  • Great drumming dude. I play for an up and coming metal band and watchin ur vids is def inspiring! I watch these vids too much haha If you get a chance check out Incide on here or myspace. Were gonna be touring Europe next year so Ive been workin on my chops double time

  • @bustanutt177 send me a link man, I'll check your band out

  • i have to say fair play on this video dude real nice i also watched your hour long video as well. i have to ask though do you use those ear phones for recording as well and at the same time would you recommend having guide guitars whilst recording this genre of music because my guitarist is being a pain in the ass about him being a guide guitar whilst recording :P btw you have the same kit set up as me dont have to a big kit to play metal i always say.

  • this is soo going on my favorites... (headbanging in background).... .... ... XD

  • Now there's one thing I'm interested about the bassdrum pedals.

Since Axis have such a hefty price tag to them I actually wonder if there's any rational reason to get some.. or anything compareable in performance like the Pearl Demon Drive.

I think you should be able to play the same stuff on a cheap generic let's say 150$ doublepedal or you'll be disappointed because the new pedals won't make you play any better.

So is there anything these pedals can to for you except making you feel special?

  • @KillerFrettchen If you can find a cheaper *longboard* pedal, let me know. The added length makes a BIG difference. So does *direct drive*...there are a few sites out there offering fairly cheap direct drive retro-fitting.

Honestly dude, if you had tried these pedals out, you would know they feel TOTALLY different from a normal pedal, and that has nothing to do with the price tag. Its unfortunate that they are pricey, but they DO make a big difference.

  • @seanlame well, I admit that I hadn't had the chance to play those pedals. They're quite hard to get your hands on around here. Though I tried the Pearl Demon Drive which is said to be comparable. But I only messed around with it for like 5 minutes at a local store. They are a bit cheaper, I think and can be transformed into a longboard pedal.

But thanks though, I think about getting me those when I got the money :)

  • @KillerFrettchen and I agree you should be able to play on any pedal, which is why I practice on pearl eliminators even more than I do on my Axis Longboards.

  • @seanlame oh, one more thing... is there a footstopper available for the axis? On all the pictures I saw across the internet they never feature a footstopper. Which I figure would be a bit annoying. My foot tends to travel up to the chain on my cheap generic let's say 150$ pedal which doesn't have a stopper on the right pedal.

  • @MrPineapple55 the entire thing is :O haha

  • IS your bass drum triggered? If not, what brand/model is it? Really wanna know please answer :/

  • @Fettgrodan123 it is

  • thats bad ass!!!..

  • hehe I like how Sean is able to teach someone's a lesson if they're talking about things they don't understand :D

  • champ <3

  • Awesome job man! Watch ur videos a lot. If u get a chance check out my band Incide.

  • dude THE MOST BOREING DRUMMRE I HAVE EVER SEEN! he has mad skills but dude, have some fun while your playing. man, so un-motivating

  • @ddrummerNC Who are you to say I'm not having fun while I play? Music with this technicality requires utmost attention...lose your train of thought for a split second and you've lost your place in the song. Its easy to look like you're having fun when the music you are playing has lots of space for you to move around. I play for the song....and this song requires MORE attention to detail and LESS flair. Thats just the way it is. Thanks for your opinion.

  • this kind of sounds like a mix between coheed & cambria, lamb of god, and all that remains

  • This is a great piece of drumming. Thanks for sharing with us!

For me you sound like a mixture of Killswitch Engage, Opeth and Amon Amarth. This may be a strange comparison, but it's not meant in a bad way. Your band has really good songs and I'm definatly going to buy your record. First Reign needs more attention - as a guitarist i enjoyed the stringwork as well ;)

Though your rehearsal room looks as untidy as ours - maybe you want to give my band a look? -> myspace/divineimputation

    cheers

  • Goddamn O_O

  • this is one ass-kicking drumming sean...I can't remember when I last saw drumming like that...keep practicing and getting the best there ever was... \m/

  • I like how one second hes scratching his shoulder then the next second into double kick and crash.

  • this time is hard o.O

  • this is metal core, but good metal core band

  • do you have any website or somewhere where i can read about all the set up u have?

  • are those wood beaters

  • this band would be so much cooler if the vocals were better - the music is pro.

  • How much if you may please say :) how much was this drum kit and each individual part? im buying a new kit soon and it would really help to know!

  • @tomster135

hoe much would you pay... i have a pdp set, it's great and quite affordable (about 1000 dollars with hardware but without any cymbal) the sabian cymbals in the video are very expensive. again at least 1000 bucks... but there are good cymbals witch arent as expensive (istanbuls are great)

  • I keep losing track of where bars start and finish...

  • i remember protest the hero

  • ya your good i want tips :D

  • Round wood beaters FTW. Great drumming!

  • Sean lang seens like he's the drummer of first reign, he plays this song so naturally...

  • ...That's because he IS the drummer of First Reign :P

  • @skillnub70 oh xD nevermind

  • There's no way this is hardcore. It's solid metal, even if there are some clean vocals. :)

  • Very good!!!

  • this is pretty good man. this guy can really drum.

  • @birmsweedhead but I don't even have super powers!

  • @seanlame how sure are you? man i cant beleive i am speaking to a guy that is playing on youtube this good, also, i have looked at your other vids with first reign, grow your hair back!!! :D

  • DAMN! That kicked ass!! rock on! _\m/

  • nice play

  • Man,you're singer's throat must fuckin hurt:|

  • Great stuff! I like the 2-handed blastbeats.

  • Just Brilliant! :D

  • A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!!!!

  • @4espritdrummer

    You're just as good ;D

  • @finni2000 okay, explain to me, in your opinion, why this is hardcore. And....go!

  • @seanlame Dude, nice work. you might want to change some of your settings on your axis, they look incredibly uncomfortable to play.

  • @maidenfan10210 What makes you say that? They are the single most comfortable set of pedals I have ever played. Mine specifically.

  • Good cover

  • I'm sorry, but if you call first reign hardcore, you really don't have any sort of grasp of metal and it's sub genres. There are no hardcore vocals, ie call outs and group chants, there are no breakdowns, and there is little, if any, punk influence. Seriously, you have no idea what you are talking about! - Sean Lang

  • Hey Sean! Could you tell me what kind of China are you using? It sounds amazing! Thanks, and sorry to disturb you!

  • this video motivated me to play drums rather than do homework, haha, amazing drumming man, and I actually like your band a lot, you guys are not excessively screamo, it sounds great

  • Sean Lang, if it in fact IS you, no offense but I can very clearly see from what you're typing that you are an typical American, and the typical American usually doesn't know the difference between Metal and Hardcore, and you know, its okay, you cant help it. :) And if you dont know what I mean exactly, go check out Lamb of God and you will quickly see that what youre doing is Core. -Finni

  • @finni2000 It is infact me, and I am Canadian, which is vastly different from American on many levels that you probably just would not understand!

  • can you cover some dying fetus?

  • @seanlame you are a great drummer

  • @seanlame Dude Sean, Fucking Sweet Ass Playing! I see a big future ahead of you. Keep it up and definately METAL! \m/

  • @seanlame sean your my hero! <3 lmao.

  • @seanlame @seanlame agreed. and i can attest to the fact that this is the real sean lang. ive been watching his videos for many years now. but as for the hardcore comment.. i think what it is is that the kids of today automatically put any type of "screaming" music into the hardcore category, because all of the kids have grown fond of bands like underoath, norma jean, and all of those hardcore influenced "Screamo" bands.

  • @seanlame yeah theyre not that hardcorre but stil, theyre good so shut it. :)

  • @FailxscopeZ

Uhhh, dumbass, you're talking to the drummer!

  • @seanlame haha pro drummer verbal rape

  • @seanlame i have the same shoes as you! :)

  • @seanlame what brand kit do you use? even though you probly wont reply

  • @jbutt125 He uses a Casey.

  • @seanlame too right i even heard people call you deathcore i was like WTF lol :p great band though

  • @seanlame its still a damn good song, and band

  • @seanlame why do you hold your sticks that way it looks like they'd slip out at any moment(which they didnt meaning you had some sort of death grip on it) but still it looks funny o;

  • @poplord909 No its just simple french grip. I also have a bad habit of holding them too far back, near the butt end, that might be what you're referring to as my death grip!

  • @seanlame lol thx for clearing that up btw my name is sean to :D power to the seans!

  • @poplord909 woot!

  • @seanlame Could you tell me what the china cymbal in this is and where I could also go about getting this kit?

  • @seanlame I love you....

  • Does anyone know the model of the China he's using? sounds sweet!

  • It's amazing how you use all the drums set Sean!!!

  • Can someone tell me what kind of china he is using? I can see it's a Sabian, but which model?

  • possibly a AAX or HHX-treme atleast 19"

  • ehhh.

  • metal not all about those fast beats where you double up on the snare.

  • @paulrox177

Erm, its called Blast Beats, and no, but I wouldnt call this Metal or something like that.. This is Hardcore, and I will never see Hardcore as a sub- genre to Metal.. At all..

  • yea to me its just rock, hard rock, heavy metal. i hate those other genre like Hardcore and Noise-Core.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice playing; not too forced or over the top, some great rhythms and a good feel over all. Will check out the band too.

  • AWE SO ME

  • I just want to know how you "learn" this type of song. It's so irregular and long,..

  • exactly...

  • @mintcu70

my opinion is that its his own creation but even though he has to rehearse the song over and over to record them...

  • I just memorize it D:

is easy, you get the most regular rythm and you should break the parts, i mean, try to know what is the bass drum doing, and the snare (example, i hear triplets between snare and hihat" try to do it, after try to do the bell thingy, after the bass drum part

    and you will get soon

  • @mintcu70 He's the bands drummer...

  • @mintcu70 he wrote it himself!!! O_O i know huh

  • @mintcu70 im sorry in advance, but thats what she said

  • @mintcu70 Hm, i'm thinking he's the drummer of first reign, so he wrote the drum part...

  • wood drum beaterS?

  • they

    might

    have nylon

    tips but

    the sticks

    themselves are

    wood

  • LOL SECOND

But seriously, this guy is crazy good.

  • LOLFIRST
