I remember seeing Street Fighter in the theater with a friend when it first came out. I got the soundtrack on cassette as a gift shortly after. Probably one of the best soundtracks I'd ever heard, but this was my favorite song even though it didn't blend well as the majority of the songs on it were hip-hop. Hearing this brings back memories.
I see Guile (JCVD), Chun Li (Ming Na), Ryu, E-Honda, Vega, Balrog (Grand L. Bush), I think I saw Sawada, but I digress. I definately don't mind the high abundance of seeing Chun-Li in this video. She's hot as hell here.
The strange thing is that this version of the video is an unlockable in the AMERICAN game, but an alternate version with lots of scenes with Van Damme (not just movie clips - you also see him on stage with Chage & Aska) is in the JAPANESE game. Must be a licensing thing with Van Damme's agents or something.
I was about 14 when I heard this song for the last time ... some 15 years ago ... so many memories ... childhood, first love, first fights, etc ...Thank you for uploading ...
i love this song i've been listening to this song since 1996 and can't get it outta my brain over here they don't sell there album but these guys are such good artists!
humm i want this video. This was the only song that was worth buying the soundtrack for i played my cassette tape so much it broke during this song lol. I found a used copy at Hastings and I still listen to the song over and over and over.
I also see balrog, e-honda, i think cammy and ken, and not so sure, but either sawada or ryu. GREAT MUSIC and a not so bad movie (I know I'll get criticized for saying that.)
Anyone have any idea if this awesome song/video got any airplay on MTV or VH1 back in '94/'95? As a matter of fact, did Chage & Aska even make a dent in the U.S as they intended to?
@SuperAdventures They were mentioned on the '95 MTV video music awards when they did a bit on video of the year awards in other countries. This song won that award in Japan.
I am actually looking for the Karaoke track of this song. I am not sure if you have that as well. If you do, please please let me know. THANKS SO MUCH!
I used to have a VHS tape from a street fighter magazine that featured the clips from the movie. I love this song, have been looking for it for ages! And thanks for the person who put it on youtube, I had never realized the cameos, I spotted Chun-Li, Honda, Vega, Balrog, Sawada and Dee Jay; cool memory from my childhood.
raybladex you have the other 2 clips of street fighter? or know someone tell me the name of the song. One is that a boy playing video games and get into it. And the other is the film clip of 95. Wanted desperately.
Hated the film but loved the song. Sure It's a bit cheesy and yet it has a catchy, soulfoul mood to it. The video is also fantastic. I know it features the less than adequate actor from the film. But there looks and the style help make this a quality video.
Yes, the gist of the message is that when the Hollywood movie opf Streetfighter came out, it looked like Chage and Aska would make it to a worldwide audience, but all of a sudden the whole thing just disappeared and was totally forgotten. Even to this day, when he mentions Chage and Aska to people, they say "haven't they broken up yet?" (you know, like people do with bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth etc) and it's incredibly sad.
I never played the game, but I got this song on a CD that came free with the video of the movie (gimme a break, I was 12 and obsessed with Jean-Claude Van Damme, and I actually think it was an OK movie - cheesy, but entertaining) and I think I played this song, and Angelique Kidjo's "Worth Fighting For" about a thousand times each. The rest of the music was pretty cool too, but then I'm a rap fan. Some of the time, anyway. So thanks, Ray - I didn't know this vid existed, but it makes me happy.:)
Fact: to this day I *still* haven't seen the Street Fighter movie. If you knew me at all you'd figure I would be 1st in line to see it when it was released, but no. I received the DVD as a gift (thanks Andrew) but have yet to watch it.
to rikigl, it was to do with the computer game on the sega saturn and PSone. When you completed the movie mode of the game, you got this video unlocked and once you did it you could view it whenever you wanted. This vid brings back a lot of memories from my younger days with my saturn lol.
I personally made this clip and it's from the Sega Saturn version. Maybe the PSX version has a different video since I've seen the version with Van Damme floating around here.
If I can locate a copy of the PSX version, I'll upload that video as well, assuming it's any different from this one.
Thanks a lot, Ray! I am very glad that there are still someone like and care about this game. Actually this game, personally I think, is great, plus the movie itself is not that bad.
the playstation version is the same as this you have to beat story mode for it or do survival without loosing i think good song better then the new american songs
ahh the best street fighter ending evvvvvveeerrrr! the SF movie video game was really good, much better than the movie. that being said the movie is under rated. it was a bad adaptation of the video game, but was an okay alternate universe story. van damme is the man! guile....THERE'S SOMETHING THERE!!!
