Found an amateur recording of this song on an acetate record (Presto records if you're interested) that I found in a thrift store. The recording was dated September 14, 1947, and was sung by someone named Beverly.
my mother had this song at my farthers frunrel back in 2003 she siad he allways sung it to her (badly) they were together for 56 years. And just 16weeks later my mother had pass away. My mother loved and missed my farther so much that she just gave up to be with him
Being a 17 year old in California, I envy those around during this time. Not because of war, but just simplicity and such a feeling of togetherness and American culture.
A piece of trivia. Who sold more records while songs were in the top 40. Elvis ,The Beatles, or the Andrew Sisters. the answer is The Andrew Sisters. We have one left at this posting, the lead singer. Hope she makes 100.
@beowulven I don't understand your point or what it has to do with the song but there was a resistance, Alot of Jews joined partisan groups undercover as most of these groups were also very anti semitic and didn't knowingly let Jews join. You also got lots of Jews from the British mandate of Palestine fighting in the British army in WW2 (from the begining), as well as Jews from Britain, America and Canada fighting in the army. They even created a Jewish Brigade attached to the British army
The Andrews Sisters version of the song was famously popular with American soldiers fighting against the Axis during WWII.
Regarding Jewish resistance, I was thinking more along the lines of personal resistance. It's my thinking (and personal experience) that any proud, strong man would give his life to defend his freedom. Walking onto a train? Packing up your children? EVERY Jewish man should have said, "NO". Resisted. Instead..."they walked in line."
@beowulven I know the Andrew Sisters were popular with soldiers. I love them myself, there is something very sweet about their music.
And there were pockets of Jewish resistance all over. You had Jews fighting in partisan groups, Jews who instead of going into hiding would join the french resistance and the dutch underground and there was also the very famous Warsaw ghetto uprising. Until you are in a situation like that you really can't be sure of your actions.
@narusasufan101 I remember doing that as well. I went looking for cherry blossom time and came up with this... If you have lived in GA then we prob sang together. :)
Rest in peace Miss Ivy. I listen to American Treasure Trove and WNARNAM Recreation Radio online old time radio. They played An American Drama the other day. They played this one & another Andrew Sisters love song. Oh my gosh, it was so bittersweet. Hearing those songs reminded me of a time when marriages didn't split so easily, when people worked things out for the better. My hubby & I are temporarily separated we will back together in Apple Blossom Time. I wish I could find that other song.
I heard a rendition of ths song 20 years ago by the Manhattan Rythms Kings; before they performed this song the lead singer told the audience that he had the pleasure to talk to the Andrew Sister. He said that during the war years that this was thier favorite song . It still brings tears to my eyes listening to it and thinking what this song meant to so many people.
how lovely ,my sister is having this as her wedding song too in jan 2010. i was introduced to the andrews sisters by a lovely lady called elsie she was born in 1917 and was 1 of the funniest person iv ever met .
I want this to be played on my wedding day also... that'll be a long way from here. I don't care, I'll wait if I have to. This song is just TOO perfect for a wedding song. No shock If I start crying to this song while my future husband and I dance to this...
did you really dance to this beautiful song on your wedding day? I hope it was a wonderful day and that everything's going well for you.
My mom and daddy danced to this very same song when they got married during the second world war. Daddy's 90 now and he only mentioned it to me for the first time last month...
Fondest regards to you from judy in the Italian Alps
my grandad sent this to my grandma in 1946 from america, with a letter sayin they,d be married in apple blossom time (april) he was in the navy, didnt make it as was sent to australia then out on the pacific for months...he eventually made it back at christmas...
Dedicated to "Mum" we miss you very much.We hope we make you proud of us.See you when we get to heaven.Until then....We love you,Happy Birthday.Ruth M Miller 1920~2001~

Not sure this is the Andrew Sisters!! They don't harmonize like this.

I can't seem to find the faster version of this song anywhere. :/
It's getting quite depressing.
I have it on a CD, but I can't find that CD either.
can anyone else find it and send me the link?

I sometimes wonder why there wasn't massive Jewish resistance to the Nazis, as so many American, English and Russians gave their lives for the cause.

I'll be with you to change your name to mine.
je ne comprends pas l'anglais, mais j'irais bien en mai ou meme en juin si les pommiers sont toujours en fleurs, pour une tendre déclaration
In apple blossom time ce serait merveilleux, mais au soleil de l'amour... peu importe la saison
