  • Class

  • I'm 17 and I love this music. I dislike all of todays music. :)

  • @arc175 nothing wrong with that hun...my daughter loves this music also...probably cos i influenced her,lol

  • Found an amateur recording of this song on an acetate record (Presto records if you're interested) that I found in a thrift store. The recording was dated September 14, 1947, and was sung by someone named Beverly.

  • RIP dad!!

  • my mother had this song at my farthers frunrel back in 2003 she siad he allways sung it to her (badly) they were together for 56 years. And just 16weeks later my mother had pass away. My mother loved and missed my farther so much that she just gave up to be with him

  • I can't seem to find the faster version of this song anywhere. :/

    It's getting quite depressing.

I have it on a CD, but I can't find that CD either.

can anyone else find it and send me the link?

  • Being a 17 year old in California, I envy those around during this time. Not because of war, but just simplicity and such a feeling of togetherness and American culture.

  • What nostalgic Gems! When people danced together be it soft or swing..Peace via Music.Ciao, Adios, ByeBye..VIVA MARIA!

  • A piece of trivia. Who sold more records while songs were in the top 40. Elvis ,The Beatles, or the Andrew Sisters. the answer is The Andrew Sisters. We have one left at this posting, the lead singer. Hope she makes 100.

  • I love these sisters. sound quality is fabulous. brings back memories of WW 2 although I was only 2 years old at the time.

  • This is a very great song....my mother and father loved this song! The Sisters sing in such harmony!

  • I sometimes wonder why there wasn't massive Jewish resistance to the Nazis, as so many American, English and Russians gave their lives for the cause.

  • @beowulven I don't understand your point or what it has to do with the song but there was a resistance, Alot of Jews joined partisan groups undercover as most of these groups were also very anti semitic and didn't knowingly let Jews join. You also got lots of Jews from the British mandate of Palestine fighting in the British army in WW2 (from the begining), as well as Jews from Britain, America and Canada fighting in the army. They even created a Jewish Brigade attached to the British army

  • @pyrohoboy

The Andrews Sisters version of the song was famously popular with American soldiers fighting against the Axis during WWII.

Regarding Jewish resistance, I was thinking more along the lines of personal resistance. It's my thinking (and personal experience) that any proud, strong man would give his life to defend his freedom. Walking onto a train? Packing up your children? EVERY Jewish man should have said, "NO". Resisted. Instead..."they walked in line."

  • @beowulven I know the Andrew Sisters were popular with soldiers. I love them myself, there is something very sweet about their music.

And there were pockets of Jewish resistance all over. You had Jews fighting in partisan groups, Jews who instead of going into hiding would join the french resistance and the dutch underground and there was also the very famous Warsaw ghetto uprising. Until you are in a situation like that you really can't be sure of your actions.

  • @pyrohoboy

    I can''t disagree with that!

  • @pyrohoboy

Facing certain death, the resistance of a few Americans on Flight 93 during the September 11 attacks saved countless lives. RESIST fascism.

  • love this 40's stuff

  • Gives you the chills! Such fantastic harmony. 2 of the 3 sisters are gone but the lead singer, Patty, is still alive and kickin'!

  • these three are amazing - there's nothing better than natural harmony. :)

  • I didnt know this song, thanks for uploading. Love yhe 40s and all this great songs.

  • Is this the version they recorded with Vic Schoen in the 50's for Capitol? It's different than the original from Buck Privates (Decca).

  • Thank you for posting this! I am told that this was one of my Grandma's favorite songs during WWII.

  • A great song of HOPE!!!!

  • My Grannie loved this song reminds me of her soo much.

Miss you nanny Coleman we all miss you soo much.

    Rest In Peace...

    Ivy Louisa Coleman..1919-2007.

  • Rest in peace Miss Ivy. I listen to American Treasure Trove and WNARNAM Recreation Radio online old time radio. They played An American Drama the other day. They played this one & another Andrew Sisters love song. Oh my gosh, it was so bittersweet. Hearing those songs reminded me of a time when marriages didn't split so easily, when people worked things out for the better. My hubby & I are temporarily separated we will back together in Apple Blossom Time. I wish I could find that other song.

  • @Rossi1900 What a wonderful way to remember your Grandma, my Condolences.

  • How many young men didn't survive until 'Apple Blossom Time' Makes you think.

  • @fanwuren Which is why we can't let what they gave us be wasted. THAT'S how we pay them back.

  • @fanwuren Yes, it was sure a damn shame, wasn't it? They never had a chance to experience it.

  • @fanwuren It certainly does. Do NOT let their sacrifice go to waste. It's in your hands.

  • This is amazing

  • I heard a rendition of ths song 20 years ago by the Manhattan Rythms Kings; before they performed this song the lead singer told the audience that he had the pleasure to talk to the Andrew Sister. He said that during the war years that this was thier favorite song . It still brings tears to my eyes listening to it and thinking what this song meant to so many people.

  • this is gonna be my wedding song!

  • how lovely ,my sister is having this as her wedding song too in jan 2010. i was introduced to the andrews sisters by a lovely lady called elsie she was born in 1917 and was 1 of the funniest person iv ever met .

  • @cherrykitten68

I want this to be played on my wedding day also... that'll be a long way from here. I don't care, I'll wait if I have to. This song is just TOO perfect for a wedding song. No shock If I start crying to this song while my future husband and I dance to this...

  • @cherrykitten68

did you really dance to this beautiful song on your wedding day? I hope it was a wonderful day and that everything's going well for you.

My mom and daddy danced to this very same song when they got married during the second world war. Daddy's 90 now and he only mentioned it to me for the first time last month...

Fondest regards to you from judy in the Italian Alps

  • I'll be with you in apple blossom time,

I'll be with you to change your name to mine.

  • Thier Harmonies have never been equalled ... & probably never will be!

  • Wonderful!

  • my grandad sent this to my grandma in 1946 from america, with a letter sayin they,d be married in apple blossom time (april) he was in the navy, didnt make it as was sent to australia then out on the pacific for months...he eventually made it back at christmas...

  • Dedicated to "Mum" we miss you very much.We hope we make you proud of us.See you when we get to heaven.Until then....We love you,Happy Birthday.Ruth M Miller 1920~2001~

  • This was my mum and dad's song, it would have been their wedding anniversary today. Thinking of you both.xx

  • I love Jack White's version of this song.

  • This was my Nana's and Papa's wedding song... They married in 1941-- Sadly my Nana passed away during their 60th year of marriage and my Papa last year in March.... It reminds me of them so much... I will be sure to play it at my wedding.

  • Takes one back to when popular songs had a story and the lyrics could be understood.

  • This was the bridal song dance at my daughters wedding last May. It was a 1940's theme wedding.

  • Beautiful song----I think they sang just great! Makes me think of my mom, she would have been really young then.

  • I'm a big fan of the Andrew Sisters. Great song.
